17th June 2021 at 7:04 am #180501Hightown, “wouldnβt most Chelsea fans agree that he hasnβt looked a Β£70m player for 90% of the season?” Couldn’t disagree with that mate and as Lucky’s post suggests there were a number of reasons for that.
However I think most Chelsea fans would also say that towards the end of last season they’ve seen signs of Havertz undoubted ability and positional play and that there’s a real feeling amongst the fans that Havertz could have a very good season this season.
As always time will be his judge but Havertz has got a lot of credit in the bank with the Chelsea fans for scoring the goal that won Chelsea the CL.

17th June 2021 at 7:54 am #180506Bale when fit and in form is a truly works class player.
Is he wales beat every player? Considering heβs played in a sales team that got the euro semi finals and heβs been a brilliant player for them
You could argue John Charles and maybe giggs but giggs missed to many games for Wales.

17th June 2021 at 7:58 am #180508You canβt be writing players off after one season. A season which was very bizarre. Young lad coning to a new country who caught Covid etc. Give him time. Heβs shown glimpses of how good he can be. Same with Werner. Letβs see how they g etc on next season
Players get written off far to quickly. Thisgo was being written off by our own fans after a horrible injury abd Covid. No patience whatsoever. He then got fully fit and showed his class

17th June 2021 at 8:18 am #180509Sean, while giggs played in worse Wales teams he still never cane close to the influence bale has. In terms of impact and performances for country it has to be Bale mate

17th June 2021 at 10:17 am #180513Harvetz is not that type of player that catches the eye a lot like say Maradona was where he went on runs weaving past 3 or 4 players, his more of a link man with subtle skills and one touches but he also obviously can go on a ran and score goals as many other players do. Just saying don’t expect him to go waltzing past defenders.

17th June 2021 at 11:02 am #180516Yeh was just thinking that last night regarding Bale. Heβs certainly not disappointed on the international stage and has very much risen to it. I think he has that footballing arrogance which helps a lot and he also seems very content and settled in that Welsh group of players.

17th June 2021 at 9:45 pm #180529It makes me think watching the Netherlands this evening how good they are. This is where England for example would need to dig deep into the depth of the squad and field their best 11.

18th June 2021 at 7:02 am #180531Nil, I’m sure Southgate will go with what he feels is the best starting eleven v Scotland taking everything into account.
Of course that may not necessarily dovetail with the thinking of the England fans.

18th June 2021 at 9:22 am #180532Havertz and Werner both had difficult seasons for several reasons and both are still young and having to settle in a new country. Given time Iβm sure they will both come good. I would expect Chelsea to have learned from past mistakes when young players have been discarded too soon, De Bruyne and Salah the obvious examples.

18th June 2021 at 10:05 am #180537Nine, absolutely mate. I was thinking about Southgate taken Kane out if he had to which would be a bold move, but for me one that would open up a different choice of formation and attack. I don’t think it would be a bad thing.

18th June 2021 at 11:25 am #180538Nil, Kane was poor v Croatia for sure personally I wouldn’t leave him out on the basis of that one game and I’m sure he’ll start v Scotland but if he continues to struggle possibly because of the uncertainty surrounding his Spurs future then I think you’re right and Southgate would have to consider his options.
I wouldn’t rule out Kane scoring tonight though.π
I think Southgate will need to consider right back though and perhaps ahead of right back too because nearly all of the danger from Scotland came from Robertson at left wing back and he has to be controlled.

18th June 2021 at 2:00 pm #180551Sounding like Shaw and James are both being brought in for this one which is the right call IMO.
