Mak, the Firmino thread is still up and running on the General football site.

Rob, the thread you talk about was “Is Teamtalk on the slide” it was focussed on the football sites on Teamtalk and was started and driven by someone who had never posted on the football sites and didnt intend to post on the football sites which is a tad ironic and was totally negative and predicted the death of Teamtalk which may or may not happen but I can appreciate why an Editor wrestling with the current problems he has on Teamtalk most of which are beyond his control would want to delete such a negative thread.

Nil is a former Teamtalk poster and whilst he was rightly critical of Teamtalk on this thread he also included his opinions of how the site could be improved had others on that TT thread followed what Nil did on this thread I doubt the TT thread would have been taken down.

Teamtalk still seemingly has some posters that are loyal to it on the General Football site, has three very active club sites in the Liverpool, United and Chelsea sites with more than 100,000 posts across the three sites and despite having less than half the staff it once had the editorial team still provide live football news 18 hours a day.

I’m not on here to defend Teamtalk as it does clearly have its problems and I now post mainly on the Chelsea site but having been on TT for so long and being a club Moderstor on there I do know a little bit of what’s gone on behind the scenes.

Anyway let’s all be grateful that we’ve got this site which doesn’t have any of TT’s problems. Cheers All 999

they might provide live news but they dont write anything. its simply copy and paste. they’ve probably got a widget somewhere that just takes stories from elsewhere and publishes them on their site. they are all a complete joke.

ed – i might not be able to help regularly but i dont mind giving a hand with the site where i can.

Pax, from my experience of it growing up 20 years ago (showing my age! :-D) to how it’s evolved, as described in my previous 2 replies, it just reminds me of a black hole and how my High Street is now.

Back then, this was revolutionary in being able to be the first in delivering News Stories and Updates. There was no Sky Sports News or anything of that ilk really back in 1998.

I relied on Ceefax, Itv Teletext, and those adds on the side called Clubcall – I’m sure I even phoned up these ads and ran up a bit of extra’s on my folks’ Telephone Bill!

The key fulfilment of the Site for me was having regular interaction with posters and back then, we were fortunate to even have our own Club Editor who would regularly chip in with his thoughts. We had 2 Editors.

I remember some kind of a revamp around 2010 of the site and remember the change at first not going down too well and one of those issues being on Login-in.

There was a good change I felt on your say where one post sent by a poster could be replied on and that would essentially be your thread of conversation. Mark Holmes was fantastic in being able to edit and update the page on a regular basis which kept the chat active, interesting and thriving.

That fella put his heart and soul into the site, you could tell. And with this creation a few years or so bad, the Site was pretty healthy despite the withdrawal of a massive sponsorship from Sky Sports.

I just felt from personal experience, once he had decided to leave the Company, the site just appeared as though to me neglected or delayed on any real attention given or work put in.

I really feel for those loyal contributors and felt that possibly a good 50 percent, even as far as 75 percent gradually just vacuumed and never to be seen again.

Its pity that Team Talk has ended up like this. but given that i had been a regular poster for nearly 6 years, i won’t say anything bad about it. besides that we read the sports news without being charged a single penny. sometimes i don’t want to be unappreciative person. the best way is that we post here and there and spread the word on both sides. with that we can have more posters here at Footydebate and more posters in to TeamTalk. i only have good words to say about Teamtalk.

C/Man, feel that way myself based on my own life experience in which I’ve shared already on here. There are lots of loyal people though realistically due to the ongoing issues, that’s just them done.

CMan, I’m with you there the Chelsea site is still active as are the United and Liverpool sites the problems on Teamtalk stemmed from the ownership issues with all the knock ons from that and now there are just 3 editorial staff running a site that was run previously by 7 editorial staff which was bound to have an effect.

Obviously Teamtalk still has a place in some people’s hearts otherwise there wouldn’t be 7 pages to this thread. ?

Just a heads up. Went on to the site and it redirected me to the following page.

Obviously it is fake. A website like that should not be directing to a malware site. Shows the security flaws.
