A slow day for Chelsea today, with Penders signing as their 8th(!!!) goalkeeper and Neto likely coming in as well.
Most clubs can only work on one deal at a time, which Iβve always felt was a bit lazy, but Chelsea are something else.

9th August 2024 at 3:46 pm #215205Yeah all other shit aside Alfie the fact they work and get so many deals done so quick at the same time is impressive and always wondered why clubs donβt do that
Shows it can be done tho

11th August 2024 at 8:11 am #215210Just cannot understand how chelsea can keep signing these players. How is this sll within fffp and also it hust makes no sense. Squad is so deflated then getting rid of honegrown players? Anyone idea how this works?

11th August 2024 at 8:40 am #215211Sean, itβs a mixture of selling academy players, which is pure profit for PSR calculations and allows them to spend five times that amount in a window, selling hotels back to themselves (which is a flagrant piss take) and they have also sold their womenβs team to themselves. They will probably sell themselves to themselves next.
They meet the rules on paper but the ownership structure is clearly putting huge amounts of cash in. The ownership structure is a little fuzzy too as Bhoey is just a front for Clearwater, which is an investment fund, and the feeling is that the Saudiβs are heavily involved. If so they are likely to have sold players to their own Saudi league too.
A bigger problem will be when they try to offload these players as many are on extremely long contracts (to help with FFP and PSR, and whilst FFP have limited their amortisation calculations to 5 years PSR havenβt) so if, say Mudryk were to be sold he would show as a huge loss unless they can recoup the majority of his original transfer fee.
I think they have a huge bump in the road coming, both with the financial rules and also with squad problems with the sheer number of players in the squad (50 plus players who have played for them or their national team are already on their books).

12th August 2024 at 8:01 pm #215214Might all be complete bullocks, but there are some vry “logical” reasons why my Spuds went for Solenko afterall… now I’m strting to look forward to the season… as it stands, still fancy us for 3rd!!!

14th August 2024 at 6:21 pm #215232Gallagher back at Chelsea could be problematic for them. I guess they will be looking to sell him to someone else, unless they do a deal for another player from Atletico, which I think the Gallagher deal hinged upon as they couldnβt afford him otherwise.

14th August 2024 at 6:27 pm #215234I think he’s being treated atrociously by the Jammy Todgers… reckon we’ll be trying our luck again soon… wait until the end of the window, and if nobody else has, bung 20 million or something on the table.

21st August 2024 at 1:15 pm #215333Joao Felix:
23/23 11m loan fee to Chelsea. Flopped.
23/24 Loan to Barcelona. Flopped.
24/25 45m and another 7 year contact transfer to Chelsea.Fair play to Chelsea, they are going all in trying to take Leeds Utd’s title away from them as the worst run club in PL history.

21st August 2024 at 1:34 pm #215336Add in the fact they sold their captain to buy a player that they didnβt actually want to sign.
Itβs like a footy computer game you leave open for an hour so you can have lunch only to find your little brother has taken the time to sell your best players and sign some random names in their place.

21st August 2024 at 1:37 pm #215337I think it’s called money laundering, or at least financial fair play laundering… you give us 42 million for Wee Conner, so we can “up” our FFP balance by 42 million, we give it back to you to buy wee Felix but only show 7(?) million a year on our books… basically swapped two players and made a FFP profit of 35 million without actually spending a penny…
Part of me actually admires the balls behind the brains here, but can’t wait for it to all blow up in their faces…

21st August 2024 at 1:43 pm #215338It’s the 7 year contracts that will trip them up, not the fees. They seem pretty good at avoiding PSR violations.

21st August 2024 at 2:06 pm #215341I think the Jammy Todgers “beancounters” are operating under the “if you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, then baffle them with bullshit” approach… nobody can work out what they’re doing… π

23rd August 2024 at 12:08 pm #215347Gundogan back at City.
Barcelona are a strange club. Buy players who they cannot register.

26th August 2024 at 11:25 am #215405Not convinced by Ugarte. Watched him against Newcastle last season and he was all over the place. Had a extremely poor game. If PSG or any big club want to get rid of you at the age of 24, then something isn’t right.
Just play Toby Collyer, who looks promising.
Use that Β£50m on a striker instead. Get Toney in.

26th August 2024 at 11:55 am #215407Not convinced by Ugarte either CM. Looked like a good prospect at Sporting Lisbon but has massively regressed since going to PSG. With that said, PGS (a bit like us at times) can be a bit of a graveyard for big prospects who go there. He does well for Uruguay by all accounts but then so does Pellistri who has always looked average when given the chance for us. We’re signing some proper players at youth level but I think it will be a while before we start to see the benefits of the improved structure at the club in terms of recruitment at senior level.

26th August 2024 at 12:34 pm #215410My concern is we are going for players who some top teams see surplus to requirements. I am happy with De Ligt because he is better than the CB we already have, but you ask why did Bayern let go so easily. Same with the full back they sold us. Ugarte is not wanted at PSG, yet United want him.
Ten Hag says we need a player like De Jong in order to play the style he had at Ajax. So why didn’t he go for Zubimendi who has a similar style to De Jong. Ugarte isn’t that type of player. He literally has 0 trust in any other players besides from the ones he previously has managed.
