Chelsea fans knew it was coming this Summer. Just a matter of when.
Thanks for everything Eden and all the very best at Real without we get drawn together in the CL of course.
Just a matter of the official confirmation now.
Well done to Marina in negotiating a great deal with Real with £88m down and achievable add ons taking it to £130m for a player who Real could sign on a free in January.
Of course everyone at Chelsea would have preferred Hazard to stay but everyond understood his desire to follow his boyhood ambitions he’s given Chelsea 7 great trophy filled seasons and been a joy to watch. Chelsea legend for sure

6th June 2019 at 6:41 pm #42220AnonymousI kinda don’t believe those figures, if it’s true that hazard has only 6 months left.
I mean, Real may be desperate to back ZZ this second time… that’s the only way they do this. Honestly, if this is the case then Real are being really stupid about things and is that a bad things for the PL? Nope.
Liverpool are on the verge of bidding for Pele from Lille, if you believe the rumours. Probably BS but hey… You never know.

6th June 2019 at 7:53 pm #42224The numbers are well reported Mak across all the media both here and in Spain and Chelsea were never going to give Hazard away they would rather have hung on to him for another season than do that.
Hazard had 12 months of his contract to go and Real could have signed him on a pre contract free in January but he couldn’t join them until the 2020/21 season.
“Real Madrid’s bid to sign Belgium forward Eden Hazard from Chelsea for a fee in the region of £88m is expected to be concluded in a matter of days.
Hazard, whose Blues contract is due to expire in a year, scored twice as they won the Europa League final last week.
The 28-year-old has scored 110 goals in 352 games for Chelsea after joining from French club Lille in 2012.
In seven seasons at Chelsea he won the Premier League and Europa League twice, the FA Cup and League Cup.
Hazard has made no secret of his interest in a move to Real, describing a move to the Bernabeu as a “dream”.
In June 2017, the Belgian said he would “listen” if Real Madrid offered him a deal, before admitting “it might be time to discover something different” after six “wonderful years” at Stamford Bridge following the 2018 World Cup.
“It is my dream since I was a kid. I was dreaming about this club,” he said when asked about a potential move. BBC Football.

6th June 2019 at 7:58 pm #42226Real have spent over £220m already and seemingly haven’t stopped yet. You would think they will need to move some out too.

7th June 2019 at 9:25 am #42240“Chelsea have officially filed an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the two-window transfer ban imposed by Fifa.
The Blues were deemed liable for violating Fifa regulations on the status and transfer of players, and as such as banned from registering new players until the summer of 2020.
The west London club were initially punished by the world governing body in February for breaking rules over the acquisition of 29 foreign minors.
Chelsea then filed an appeal to Fifa – which was rejected in April by the organisations appeals committee.
But in a statement released on Friday morning, the Court of Arbitration for Sport confirmed the registration of Chelsea’s new appeal.
“The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has registered an appeal filed by Chelsea Football Club Ltd (CFC) against the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA)”
“It is not possible to say at this time when the Arbitral Award will be issued,” the statement continued. “CAS will not provide any further information in relation to this procedure, except to issue a Media Release announcing the Panel’s decision.”
We might get to spend the Hazard money yet.?

7th June 2019 at 11:33 am #42244Sean, Chelsea have appealed the ban which will take a long time to be fully heard it’s not known whether Chelsea have asked for the ban to be suspended pending the CAS hearing which still leaves the Club unable to sign anyone and Chelsea won’t comment on whether they’ve asked for the ban to be suspended?
That’s the big unknown which could free up the chance to sign players this Summer if Chelsea request the ban be suspended prior to the hearing being fully heard and CAS agree.

7th June 2019 at 11:54 am #42248AnonymousReal got a good deal they got the the world’s 3rd best player for only 100m plus his at his peak now. Pity though his not going to be watched by the same amount of football fans world wide, just read the EPL has more than 67% of world wide TV football audience, next best is the Italian league with 9% foowed by the Spanish league with 7%.

7th June 2019 at 4:35 pm #42262We all know it’s just a matter of days or even hours before Hazards transfer is confirmed. But the below is just poor from Real.

8th June 2019 at 1:38 am #42269AnonymousHazards transfer fee makes a lot more sense knowing that he has 12 months instead of 6 alright. If those clauses are really attainable then it was a really good deal, if not then it’s only average. All the same, Hazard was the best of professionals for Chelsea and he didn’t leave on a free, so you have really gotten good mileage out of him.
I’d wish him luck but not too much, as I cant stand Real or Barca. Let him play as well as ever but no more CL wins for Real please…

8th June 2019 at 4:38 am #42271Good luck to Hazard in his new challenge. many players has played and left but the club stood. i appreciate his services to the club. you don’t get more than 6 years from skillful players, but got more at least 7. so at 28 the time was right for him to seek a new challenge. likewise the time is also right for the club to build a new look side. i will be interested to know who our team will be built around. if that is CHO, then that means a long term solution. give him the no 10 shirt and 8 year contract. for the last two seasons since we lost Costa, we become completely dependent on Hazard for goals. so let us now focus someone else. a new core of mostly young English players had been emerging towards the business end of last season. RLC,CHO and Barkley. as well as Rudiger and Kepa could form the back bone of the team in post Hazard era. and we also have Pulsic and Abraham to add.
Now our next focus should be to conclude this Sarri uncertainty. if he is keen to leave just release and appoint his successor in days. we can’t afford managerial uncertainty for the second summer in a row.
The fact that the club have appealled from the transfer ban to CAS suggest they have a clear picture about who will be in charge and will dip in to market. to get one or two signing mostly RB i think as Azpi is showing signs of decline. and centre forward now that Higuain has left. there are no indications that Kovacic formed any part of the Hazard deal. i’m led to believe it was a straight cash upfront. and there is no mention of his future. i wouldn’t be too keen to take Asensio either as we have a total of four wingers.
One boy from Lille excites me. Nicolas Pepe is doing fine in france. and the last time we had done business with Lille. it was an ispired one. infact our only flop from that league in recent times was Bakayoko. Drogba, Essien, Azpi and Hazard were all from there. and him plus CHO on both flanks would be a nightmare for any fullback. pace and trickery will be in abundant. also Christensen has shown this season whilst fragile he could be relied on. the more games he played the more solid he was so no need for a CB. a leftback and right back should Alonso and Zappacosta leave.
and i beg your pardon for my rants there. i know there aren’t that much Chelsea guys here. ?

8th June 2019 at 7:39 am #42272Be surprised if maguire wants to go to City – he must have seen what’s happened withJohn Stones. Game time is important and if he does decide to go there then John Stones must think his time there is up.

8th June 2019 at 7:40 am #42273Hazard going and the transfer ban could be the best thing that’s happened for Chelsea for years. We can now start building a team, not around one player but a team that works together. The last season or so the style of play was “pass the ball to Hazard” that’s park football.
The transfer ban will force us to use our youth/loaned out players, it gives the older and better players their chance, and then they have to take it, if that happens then it shows the younger players there is a pathway to the first team if you work hard and are patient.
The only question for me is, is Sarri the right man?….Pagan

8th June 2019 at 7:53 am #42274Pagan, looks like the decision on Sarri has already been taken and he’s joining Juve next week.
Personally I would have given him another year but hand in heart I don’t think he was the right fit and it’s probably best for all parties to allow him to go.
“The times they are a changing”. ?

8th June 2019 at 7:58 am #42275Good post CM. Pulisic, Abraham, Mount, Reece James and Zouma can all be added to the squad next season we won’t win the title but I’m sure we will still challenge the for a top 4 place imo and think how much money we’ll have to spend next Summer for a title push if the ban isn’t lifted.?

8th June 2019 at 8:32 am #42277It’s exciting times for Chelsea they now have the opportunity to take a new approach to strengthen the squad and still continue to be successful. After all if you look around the world markets there are not many players at the required class that can brought in. They have enough now to mount serious challenges on all fronts, consistency though is the problem as it is with all clubs.
