I think us Spuds had a bit more than a decent window considering the lack of outgoings… most of us were expecting more than just Trippier to leave (still wonder what those comments were about!), and would think it was explained to all those with one foot out the door if you don’t go before the 8th, then you won’t be going anywhere (despite it still being open until Sep 2nd everywhere else!).
Goonies are certainly fav’s for 4th now they got a couple more at the back… time will tell!

9th August 2019 at 1:36 pm #44848Chuckster, I was focussed on incomings tbh, if I included outgoings it would have written it up as a terrible window for Chelsea.?
But I agree with you holding on to players like Eriksen is a big plus although what happens from here with him is open to conjecture, the Spurs squad is stronger than last season and Spurs have a full season in their new ground now so I’m expecting a good season from them be interesting to see whether they can push City and Liverpool for the title.

9th August 2019 at 1:51 pm #44849I’m not going to get my hopes up to fair with regards to a title push. If everybody in the squad knuckles down and plays as well as we know they can, and our “injuries” aren’t as bad as last year, then maybe. Still concerned about RB, but obviously Poncho has some sort of plan there, we’ll just have to see what it is. Overall, I’ll be very disappointed if we don’t finish in the Top 3, and maybe a Cup if Poncho takes them a bit more seriously (the domestic ones!).
Anyway, you have to consider the squad as a whole I think, what it was when it started, and what it was when it finished. No point in signing Messi if you sell your entire 1st team to pay for it!! ๐

Fair point and I’ve suitably amended my assesment above.

9th August 2019 at 2:30 pm #44857Good point Mav it can’t be a true assesment until all the windows have closed. How bonkers is it not to have a unified transfer window across the whole Europe inc the PL.

9th August 2019 at 3:28 pm #44870Chuckster, the above doesn’t really work with Eriksen though does it.
If Eriksen continues to refuse to sign a new contract Daniel might well accept an offer from Real than lose ยฃ50m in January as he can sign on a pre contract free then.

I’m surprised thought it would be more than that. ๐

10th August 2019 at 5:40 pm #45034“transfer talks are โmore advanced than beforeโ, according to Paris St Germain sporting director Leonardo.
The Brazil star is said to be unsettled in France and has been linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid this summer?
“Barca are wary of the threat posed by Real Madrid and the latest reports indicate the Catalans could offer Philippe Coutinho and Nelson Semedo plus โฌ50m in cash to tempt PSG into selling the Brazilian.” Evening Standard.
Griezmann Suarez, Messi and Neymar could be one hell of a front 4.

13th August 2019 at 2:41 pm #45215“Not signing Pogba puts Zidane on the brink of resigning,โ Torres, who works for El Pais, said.
โZidane personally promised Pogba he would bring him to Madrid, and now he is left looking bad.
โThis has only increased the lack of confidence between Zidane and Florentino.
โFor Zidane, his project and Pogba are almost the same thing. Nothing that he was promised has really come to pass.
โZidane returned as a protective shield for Florentino, but he has already fulfilled that political and social mission.โ Daily Express 13/08
All falling into place for Jose??

15th August 2019 at 5:54 am #45354I think chelsea deserved to win the super cup or whatever it’s called, they looked fresher & were unlucky not to win it. I’ve been a strong advocate of the need to buy a couple of players of quality to strengthen & said if we didn’t we’d fall behind city. Bit of a concern that our lads looked tired 1 game in. Yeah it might have been just one of those days but I fail to see our current squad pushing city like last season. They simply have too much quality in depth and as noble as it is to try and develop players I think it will backfire and we will fall behind city even further. By January it could well be too late to strengthen as I fully expect city to get well into the 90’s for points yet again.

16th August 2019 at 5:52 am #45442So much for City deciding he was too expensive! City were even wanting to pay him almost ยฃ300k a week. Players like Maguire, who really wanted to be at the club, are exactly the type of players Utd needed
Harry Maguire turned down ยฃ278,000-a-week Man City offer to join Man Utd instead
