The Dybala to Spurs deal was always likely to fall. Spurs don’t pay the kind of money he was wanting.

8th August 2019 at 1:20 pm #44762Weβll see Nine, my initial worry with the saga was that some of the senior players perhaps didnβt have complete faith in the manager (which could spread). So long as Frank was the one completely in charge of the situation and knows exactly what heβs doing, then thatβs fine. For the record I actually quite like Frank and think he could do ok at Chelsea (though there will be some bumps in the road ahead). And Iβll always admire the way he gave James OβBrien both barrels on LBC when his private life was being discussed.

8th August 2019 at 1:33 pm #44765Mikus, that’s your own personal interpretation I’ve not seen anything from anyone that suggests that including David Luiz himself “Everyone knows Lamps is a legend. It was a pleasure to work with him as a player and it’s a pleasure to work with him as a coach now. When you play with a player like Lamps, he is a leader anyway so he is still leading the team now in a different place. He cannot run anymore and cannot score goals any more but he’s still a leader.” David Luiz.
“However, a key area that will face Lampard is whether he will have the conviction and be given the authority to freeze out players he doesnβt like or is unsure of?? (particularly when he canβt make signings).” That question seems to have been answered Mikus.?

8th August 2019 at 2:53 pm #44779Nine, very much stand by those comments. As I said it was my βinitial worryβ that Lampard wasnβt in charge of the situation regarding Luiz and was taken by surprise by it. If it is as you say it was and had been brewing for some time and that Lampard knows exactly what heβs doing, then Iβm happy to be corrected about it, and indeed it does demonstrate authority and conviction.

8th August 2019 at 3:10 pm #44780Mikus, come on mate Frank has had a pre season to asses who he wants to start and doesn’t want to start it’s his job to select what he thinks is the best team Luiz wasn’t selected for the last friendly and wasn’t going to start v United.
It’s Frank’s right to select his best team given how positive Luiz has been about everything Chelsea over the last few weeks his reaction to that should have been I don’t agree with you Boss and I’ll fight hard to win my place back instead he threw his toys out of the pram and imo Frank has handled it perfectly and perfectly answered your original question.
This is not unusual is it player doesn’t get selected and reacts badly it happens at every Club slightly different situation but three years ago JΓΌrgen Klopp revealed he sent Mamadou Sakho home because of a lack of βrespectβ from the player. The Liverpool manager cut the defender from his squad from a pre-season tour of the States, after he was late for meetings on three separate occasions. Players have to show respect and respect of Managers decisions.

8th August 2019 at 4:48 pm #44790I was just about to make the same point!!!
Liuz strengthening a defence. Arsenal’s maybe. Anybody else’s??United selling Lukaku. Despite the media crap the reality is it balances the books and that was needed. Front three of Martial, Rashford and Sanchez. Ok on paper. Wan Bassika is unknown but cant be worse than Valencia or Young. Maguire certainly better than Jones,Smalling, Rojo etc.
So they should be better but is the managef up to it?Weve signed Scott Carson. Good back up keeper.
Spurs have made signings and should be better.
We will find out!

8th August 2019 at 4:49 pm #44791AnonymousYa Mikus, I began respecting Lampard after hearing him chew out that radio talkshow dude, or whatever it was. A few other things he’s said over the years tell me that he’s got a head on his shoulders and seems to be a decent fellow. On top of being an admirable player, ya I’d wish him luck at Chelsea also.
as for this Luiz thing… Lampard played alongside Luiz before. When he got the job, you know he had a much better idea than most incoming managers would have on who is a bad apple and there’s just something about Luiz that I’ve never liked. For the life of me I can’t think of examples but they were there. I’m not racist against Brazilians π
Luiz is basically just a bit of a tit and I’m glad to see Lampard have the sense in removing him. Asa for Arsenal, well they got an ok deal. They needed a CB who could play the ball out and distribute it a bit. 32 or so years old but 8M in todays market isnt bad, if he doesnt sow seeds of discontent there.

8th August 2019 at 4:54 pm #44793Nine, as I said, Iβm happy to be corrected after I initially read the situation wrongly. (The comments I stand by were that you need to be authoritative and have conviction to move players on you donβt need, standing up to big players if need be, and obviously Lampard has done that).

8th August 2019 at 5:23 pm #44796All over now bar the shouting.
Been a bit boring for us Chelsea fans but we’ll be back next summer seemingly with a hefty transfer budget in our back pocket to spend.
In fact assuming the ban isn’t lifted in January I can see us maybe trying to do a Pulisic deal or two then.
