7th August 2019 at 10:09 pm #44707Felliani and Herrera went and needed to be replaced. Utd still have a massive pull and can sign most players around
Utd should be making at least one more player
Ed, I agree you can’t be buying to many players. Utd need a few windows but will ole get them?

7th August 2019 at 10:17 pm #44708I don’t think he will to be perfectly honest Sean. All a bit of a mess at Utd still

7th August 2019 at 10:19 pm #44709Solksjaer is still very much unproven. Why start blowing money under him? (Like Liverpool did under Rodgers last season?) What Man Utd have done this summer is sign pretty safe (but not spectacular) signings. In any case I really do think Allegri will be appointed at some point this season. So they can add accordingly later on.

7th August 2019 at 10:28 pm #44710Completely agree Mikus. Matter of time I think. As long as Real don’t get there first

7th August 2019 at 10:59 pm #44713Ed and Mikus, not sure about that.
I don’t think the United Board are going into this season with the thought that we are just treading water prior to appointing Allegri in January.
Obviously if United don’t win matches the Manager will be under pressure no matter who the Manager is but let’s not forget United have just signed Maguire for a world record fee for a defender.
Realistically who is there that United can realistically sign at the top level that meet their objectives and their budgets. It’s not an easy transfer market currently.
I’m sure without there’s a complete disaster Ole will get a full season if the season doesn’t meet the Club’s objectives Allegri may well end up being appointed.

7th August 2019 at 11:10 pm #44714Suppose Allegri had been appointed recently at Man Utd – you’re not telling me that all Man Utd’s transfers would have all been the same as they are now. Allegri would have identified some different targets – most probably players he had previously worked with, and some more transformative signings would have been made accordingly. Man Utd have instead stayed safe (if expensive) on players they are desperate for as opposed to looking for life changing ones.
Similarly, suppose Allegri had been appointed at Chelsea over the summer – do you really think Luiz would now be looking for a transfer??
Events at both clubs are rather telling for me.

7th August 2019 at 11:58 pm #44717AnonymousUtd don’t need to spend more on players. They need to have the right people in there to not be pissing away their money in the first place. £150m spent wisely goes a long way, although this is the most painful window I think we’ve ever seen for prices.
Utd massively over-spent on Lukaku, to the point where they are struggling to make their money back, even though the market has gone nuts since. This is the cost of not utilizing your talent correctly. Every match is a shop window and Utd have paid too much for their stock to be the bargain basement that they really are.
All of Utd’s problems stem from a non-footballing person making stupid decisions. Until that changes, they shouldn’t spend a penny.
i just can not believe that the owners of the club are so fucking stupid that they not only let this nonsense happen but it seems that they are utterly oblivious to the real source of the issues at the club. How did these guys get rich in the first place because they are clearly not intelligent people.

8th August 2019 at 12:01 am #44719Mikus, what life changing players are currently in the market place no matter who is the Manager at United that’s the point I’m making.
As for Luiz he didn’t start v Monchengladbach, Rudiger is on his way back and the rumour is that Luiz wouldn’t have started at United and at 32 perhaps understandably he doesn’t want to be a squad player and fight for his place whilst Frank made it very clear when joining he only wanted players 100% committed to the cause.
Would Allegri have come to the same decision had he been Manager of Chelsea after assessing all the players in pre season games as Frank had we will never know it’s a big decision by Frank but it wasn’t long ago you were questioning Frank’s limited experience to take those big decisions and to deal with player power yet that’s what he’s done you can’t have it both ways Mikus.?

8th August 2019 at 12:07 am #44721AnonymousNine, I am definitely out of the loop here but are you saying that Lampard has made some kind of call to drop Luiz from the team because he’s not 100% committed? It seems like you’re talking about it as if it’s fact. Mind filling in the gaps for the not so informed?

8th August 2019 at 12:31 am #44724Mak, as per my post above.
“As for Luiz he didn’t start v Monchengladbach, Rudiger is on his way back and the rumour is that Luiz wouldn’t have started at United and at 32 perhaps understandably he doesn’t want to be a squad player and fight for his place whilst Frank made it very clear when joining he only wanted players 100% committed to the cause.”
The rumour is from a couple of very respectable Chelsea sources is that Luiz hasn’t been happy and threw his toys out of the pram because he wasn’t going to start v United and with Rudiger coming back he was going to be 4th choice Centre Back behind Rudiger, Zouma and Christensen and that’s allegedly caused the current situation.
Luiz’s Agent is “Top football agent and boyhood Arsenal supporter ( and Arsenal season ticket holder) Kia Joorabchian who joined the chorus of fans sending a message to the club’s owner Stan Kroenke over his lack of financial backing.
On Monday morning, a group of influential Gunners supporters’ organisations, fanzines and blogs joined forces to hit out at Kroenke’s ‘passive ownership’ and called for ‘better leadership’ of their club.” Talksport.
Call me suspicious…..?
Allegedly Frank will talk about it in his press conference tomorrow where I guess it could be a done deal or a storm in a tea cup. As always though in these things it’s currently all supposition.
The good news is that Chelsea are well covered at Centre back with Rudiger,Zouma, Christensen and Tomori. Cheers 9’s

8th August 2019 at 12:43 am #44725AnonymousYou’ll have to excuse my horrible memory and also limited knowledge of the current goings on at Chelsea but as of even the end of last season, wasn’t Luiz the number 1 guy at CB for Chelsea?
I can understand someone slipping a place when a manager comes in but that’s incredible.
If I’m not just out of touch and he’s been slammed to the back of the line-up, then Frank doesn’t like him from when they played together.
I’ll be honest. I don’t like Luiz one bit. It’s always seemed to me that he’s a bit of a media chameleon. In that he always puts his best foot forward, to an annoying extent. On this, I’d say trust Frank, he’s a level headed chap and if he thinks he needs to get rid of some clown he’s previously worked with on the field, then good. Maybe he’s a part of the problem getting weeded out!

8th August 2019 at 4:44 am #44727Don’t think we’ll be getting anybody from PSG soon as we’ve just shafted them apparently (they can afford it no doubt!)

8th August 2019 at 8:03 am #44728Mak@12:43am: Mak, tbh the perception of Frank and Luiz’s relationship when they were players was that it was a very good one but things can change when a former teammate is now your Boss.
David Luiz will always have a special place in the heart of most Chelsea supporters as he was one of the players who delivered the holy grail but previous Manager’s didn’t rate him defensively.
Jose sold him to PSG and Conte left him out of his team completely in his second season.
As Andy Townsend said last night “Maybe Frank [Lampard] has different ideas, maybe he’s going to put more faith in [Andreas] Christensen and other young players and maybe David Luiz feels his time at Chelsea is coming to a bit of a natural close,”
What couldn’t happen is Luiz being a disruptive influence on the squad because he’s seemingly dropped down the pecking order the correct reaction from him would have been I’m one of the most senior players at the Club and I’ll fight my way back into the team and it looks like Frank has faced that one on head on. Prefer he wasn’t going to Arsenal though.? Cheers 9’s

8th August 2019 at 8:48 am #44730Anonymous999… Its an interesting one. Looks like Zouma will partner Christiensen until Rudiger comes back. I have to say im very surprised by this move. Will make fantasy football easier to select some more chelsea players.
thought it would have been Luiz and Christiensen at the start of the season. But if we can get some cash in for him at 32 then got to back Lampard.
Interesting times and I wonder if we’ll get rid of Zappacosta,, Bakayoko and Drinkwater today? close to 100 million in talent right there plus savings on the wages and pulling in loan fees for them.
Why leave it this late in the window as well. Strange decision but got to back the new manager.
Dybala to Spurs, bit of a game changer if that goes through. Would that be the domino that starts the pogba move and United into the market for any more today?
got to love our self imposed transfer deadline day.
