7th August 2019 at 9:01 pm #44678Whether Chelsea agree to let Luiz go is open to conjecture personally I donโt want players at Chelsea that arenโt 100% commited to the cause, this is a big problem for Frank to deal with before a ball is even kicked in anger and of all the players who might be difficult for Frank to manage Luiz was always the most likely given that they were previously team mates and now Frank is the Boss.
Luiz is a big character in the dressing room at Chelsea and on his day a very good player albeit prone to the odd defensive error.
Whatever the situation with Luiz I don’t think Chelsea should be strengthening a direct rival especially as it would be potentially be at their cost.
However I think the Club will do whatever Frank says should be done.
Weโll know by 5pm tomorrow but even if Luiz leaves Chelsea still have 4 very good Centre Backs in Rudiger, Christensen, Zouma and Tomori.

7th August 2019 at 9:22 pm #44684Can’t beat a bit of excitement around the closure of the transfer window. Hope tomorrow springs some surprises. Neymar to Real would be crazy. Just praying the window shuts before Woodward gets tempted to bring Bale in on a loan deal to offset Neymar’s wages!

7th August 2019 at 9:31 pm #44687Luis looks like heโs going. He was excellent under conte. Prone to the odd mistake but thatโs an excellent summer for arsenal with him and tierney in

7th August 2019 at 9:36 pm #44688Coutinho to rumoured clubs this week is not going to happen; certainly for the foreseeable future.
I don’t know whether he’d go to Chelsea, but as biased as this may come, it seems to me there’s only one move he’s holding out for.
We’ve had Shaqs from last year so that’s Klopp’s existing Boy haha.
Pining for a move back to us, maybe that’s more in the hands of Klopp.

7th August 2019 at 9:39 pm #44689Well lots were saying Utd were asking for too much for Lukaku. Looking like we’re getting back what we paid for him (ยฃ75mil) and they’re going to pay him ยฃ300k a week! Decent bit of business that for once from Utd.
Still, it leaves us very short in midfield and attack now as I’m certain we’re not bringing anyone else in. Best we can hope for is some temporary cover up top such as Llorente/Mandzukic

7th August 2019 at 9:42 pm #44690Ed, if utd dint bring anyone else in thatโs crazy mate. It really is
Herrera needs to be replaced. A right winger is needed. Maybe another central midfielder , centre forward and also still they havenโt sold any of the deadwood
Surely utd should be buying someone like Bruno ferndes. That have the money
Is it really Ed Woodward just being incompetent?
I still believe utd will bring at least one more in.

7th August 2019 at 9:54 pm #44695Sean, Utd have never spent more than ยฃ150mil in a single window and I can’t see that changing this summer. Agree though, so much deadwood left and we desperately needed to strengthen in midfield. Naively, Ole seems to think our young players can step up.
On Fernandes, the MEN are saying Utd have only ever been vaguely interested, nothing more. Apparently, it’s someone their side making out we’re more interested than we are, to start a bidding war. Unfortunately, happens all too often with Utd.
With Lukaku going, we’ll have only spent around ยฃ70mil of the club’s money on transfers. Ridiculously low amount considering how far behind we are.

7th August 2019 at 9:57 pm #44697Ye valid points Ed but my question is why?
Why arenโt they spending the money ? Do they not have it?
They need players mate

7th August 2019 at 9:58 pm #44698“I really like how Frank Lampard has handled this David Luiz situation. You’re not with me? Fine, do one. My kind of management.” Matt Law Daily Telegraph.
Matt Laws is a journalist who is never far off what’s happening at Chelsea, but ยฃ8m C’mon!
“Sky Sports expert Kaveh Solhekol thinks Lampard has given Luiz his blessing to move to a London rival.
โLetโs not forget that Chelsea are under a transfer ban at the moment so even if they wanted to sign a replacement they wouldnโt be able to,โ he said.
That just shows you how much Frank Lampard is happy with him going.โ
But at the end of the day who really knows what is and isn’t true. Frank to speak on it all tomorrow allegedly?

7th August 2019 at 10:00 pm #44699I’m sure we have it, but being happy to spend it is another question. Unfortunately, I think our owners are happy to spend whatever they think will get us back into the money positions which is the top 4. I’m not convinced they care beyond that. Even so, it’s looking increasingly unlikely that we’ll go into the season with a side good enough to even secure top 4!

7th August 2019 at 10:01 pm #44700Sean, having the money is only part of the equation the right players have to be available to spend it on. No good imo United just making signings for the sake of it.

7th August 2019 at 10:03 pm #44701Anonymous“Why o why nobody wants to buy United players?Lol”
Because prices are based on a number of factors that are mostly governed by form. Utd have been unattractive and also pretty ineffective of late. The players are not (to my knowledge) playing to their strengths, as a group, so we’re not seeing just what they can do. They also seem to have a toxic environment (Pogba attitude).
If ye got a real manager in there who could get them playing some quality attacking football then the players ye want to sell would actually look to be worth their previous purchase prices.
Apologies for being so Frank.

7th August 2019 at 10:05 pm #44703Yeah another fair point Nine. When you try to buy young and British players and looking at nigh on ยฃ150mil for Maguire & Longstaff, it’s understandable that they’ve held back a little in some ways.
Also incredibly difficult to bring in 5/6 players in the same window. Very rarely works to do so any changes at once.

7th August 2019 at 10:06 pm #44704Good players are available nine.
As spurs and arsenal and a host of other clubs have shown.
