Still say the whole loan system needs to be reviewed. Too many clubs are now abusing the system beyond what it was designed to do.
Loaning 27 year-olds to get them off the wage bill for a season?

4th August 2019 at 8:00 am #44348Silly money being thrown about. Maguire has one ok ish season and United spend Β£80m on him. Hes a bbg gamble at that money imo. Paper talk I know but Pogba talked about in a Β£270m deal. Lol That is utter nonsense. On his day he is a great player but his day is interspersed with 5 bang average ones. The most overrated player in the PL. Imo he’s not worth the money United paid for him. If solskar really wants to keep him United will do well to get 4th. He must be just saying that to drive up his price. Sterling KDB Laporte Walker Stones Sane all look real bargains in today’s market. Sane looks like he’s staying which is good news. Munich tapped him up, City know this and they have now backed off. Wonder if they will get sanctioned for it. I doubt it being an old guard club and who they know. Slap on the wrist at best.

4th August 2019 at 8:48 am #44353Interesting comment on Maguire having no CL experience, however the success that PL teams had in the European competitions last season could possibly offset that.
Having said that itβs the money thatβs the main problem for me, bang average players with the ability to tie their own laces Β£30m+…..Pagan

4th August 2019 at 10:26 am #44356Jim, that Pogba price is with all the wages, agents fees etc all included in. Of course it’s a ridiculous price. Ole doesn’t want to sell him. Why would he quote a low price for a player he doesn’t want to lose? I’m glad we’ve started standing up to Madrid though. We’ve been terrible in the past at getting top prices for our players and it’s about time we changed that. Also, when Utd go after a player, there is always a premium. Β£50mil for Longstaff?! If Longstaff is worth that after 10 games, we’ve every right to ask for a ridiculous fee for Pogba.
Maguire price is silly. Completely disagree that Stones looks cheap though. Sterling looks very good value though. Stones is one I’m glad we stayed away from. Think he’s massively overrated tbh. He’d probably do well to fetch 30mil if he was out up for sale now. All that said, he’s better than most of our CBs ?. Mahrez looks crazily over priced too. Wan Bissaka will be one of those who will go on to make his fee look small imo. James too I think.
I tell you what though, I bet Pep wishes he coughed up the fee for VVD. City would have had no competition at all last season if they’d have got him.

4th August 2019 at 10:55 am #44361Stones & Walker are surely not footballers? And what happened to Β£30m Danilo?Lol Β£42.5m on Mangala and now he is available for free??
On United, just listen to what Shearer has to say but,if an complete unknown A.Webster of Bristol City is going for Β£22m,a L.Dunk for Β£40m,and a J.Tarkowski for Β£50m,then money has lost all meaning in football today.ps:on the Instagramvirus-he just doesnt want to be here anymore, its plainly obvious for everyone to see!

4th August 2019 at 10:57 am #44363Yeah Walker was top quality in his first season at City but I think he’s become their weak link defensively. I think RB for England is wide open with Trent probably now number 1 closely followed by Awb and Walker

4th August 2019 at 11:10 am #44368Tripper should be nowhere near that RB position Mav! He was good in the World Cup, granted, but awful last season. Spurs have done well to move him on

4th August 2019 at 11:12 am #44369Agree with Chucky Barca for instance being prepared to loan out Coutinho highlights that the loan system isn’t being used in the way it was intended same for Kovacic last season.
It has to be restricted to young developing players.

4th August 2019 at 11:15 am #44372Steady Eddy from Malmo-He was brilliant @ the WC and he is brilliant defensively, its just going forward lets him down a bit, imho.Ideally Trent & Chilwell would occupy the wing-back slots, but Trippier is much better than the awfully overrated Walker!

Except when clubs are loaning 12 million young players in an effort to flog ’em… that’s also taking the piss! π

4th August 2019 at 11:37 am #44375Chucky. I agreed months ago that for loan system was wrong and needs to change but the bulk of Chelsea young players out on loan are Academy players and there’s nothing wrong with a loan system that helps to develop young players even Harry Kane benefitted from that!

4th August 2019 at 11:43 am #44377Dress it up any way you want cyber chum, there should be limits on the number of players a club can send out on loan. Clubs do have numerous age levels and leagues to play the buggers in, and any club loaning that many players out all over Europe undoubtedly have one eye on future sales.
A very clear abuse of the system.

4th August 2019 at 3:05 pm #44386Chucky, seriously what are you talking about I’m not dressing it up any way I’ve said I agree and fully support the new rules months ago as I confirmed again in my previous post above.
But that doesn’t mean young players shouldn’t be loaned out to aid their development there is a massive difference between youth football and mens football and under the new rules that will continue and so should it.
Let’s not forget such loans to Orient, Millwall, Norwich and Leicester helped Kane become the player he is today!
