no it didnt but when you have a player that cost so much, taking huge wages who barley plays and wont leave then whats a team supposed to do?

22nd July 2019 at 8:19 am #43745Stevo, I think the Clubs will need to have a big think about the significant wages that they are offering to these supposed star players which when it all goes wrong means it’s virtually impossible to move them on.
It’s not just the Real Madrid’s and PSG’s of this world that is effecting both United and Arsenal have similar problems with Sanchez and Ozil and anyone buying Bale even if his wages are subsidised by Real are likely to repeat the problem.

22nd July 2019 at 8:29 am #43746totally agree, contracts need to change, for the money being spent the return is often awful, caveats should be introduced, metrics to go against, fitess and minutes played etc among them, if players dont hit their goals set through the contract then the wages should decrease in line, these players would then either step up or be easier to move on….its all silly and unsustainable

22nd July 2019 at 8:55 am #43747You can’t have it both ways guys… Real Virus game him the bloody contract and if the boot was on the other foot (Bale decided he wanted to leave rather than Real Virus pushing him out) you both know damn well Real Virus would be waving that contract around and asking for a bezillion bucks or something. Contracts go both ways… both deserve each other and I have sympathy for neither.

22nd July 2019 at 9:21 am #43749But I do agree the money in football these days is a bit on the ridiculous side… but as long as us mugs keep pumping money into the game in one form or another, it’s going to keep going the way it is. We’ve all been saying for years (or at least I have!) the game is going to eat itself eventually, and I must admit a part of me can’t wait for it to happen… even if I’m not holding my breath over it! π

22nd July 2019 at 10:46 am #43750Spainβs sports papers and sections were dominated on Monday morning by the news that Gareth Bale is about to leave Real Madrid.
βGARETH SALE,β said AS on their front page in a headline which would work in English too, but actually means βGareth leavesβ in Spanish.
AS added that negotiations were βvery advancedβ for the winger to transfer to a Chinese club and on their cover, Marca featured a photograph of Bale being substituted by coach Zinedine Zidane. βHeading to China,β it read. Evening Standard 22/07
I guess that would take care of the salary issues.?

22nd July 2019 at 3:10 pm #43756“David De Gea wants to captain Manchester United after agreeing a six-year deal at the club.
The Spain international is set to end the uncertainty over his future by signing a Β£375,000-a-week contract when the club return from their pre-season tour to Australia, Singapore and China.
Although the deal is still to be officially confirmed, De Gea gave the clearest indication yet that he will be at Old Trafford for the long term by outlining his ambition to succeed Antonio Valencia as captain.”
Not sure about having Keepers for Captains but things seem to be beginning to fall into place for United now. Still a midfield signing to complete, getting the Maguire deal finalised and sortiing out the Pogba/ Lukaku situations.
