19th July 2019 at 9:39 pm #43672Sean!
I am biased as hell but I try to put wbat I think is the truth in my posts. Having had to suffer the Utd press for decades I see our success as a bit of “up yours”.
I was speaking to a Liverpool fan today and he said that he would swap the CL any day to win the EPL. I think Klopp thinks so too.
To say the players are just there for money….dont wholly agree. Some actually play for the club and the fans. For us:
Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Aguero Silva all there for the best part of 10 years Yes well paid but they delivered and were/are loyal. Fernandinho in his 7th year._____________________________

19th July 2019 at 10:33 pm #43675No such thing as the Utd press Adlab, certainly not how you describe it. Utd create news and headlines, but the same applies with negative news. You only have to look at all the stick we’re getting over the Maguire bid, over asking for excessive fees for Lukaku, Pogba.
City have had so much positive press. So many articles about Pep and his team. Article after article about how they’re the best side ever, despite not having won the CL. There’s been such a City love-in in recent years. I don’t have an issue with it but it just astonishes me that you spend so much time digging out Liverpool and Utd. Utd, in particular, are not even competing with City. You should be enjoying these years, not spending your time moaning about Utd. When it’s someone else’s turn, you’ll wish you spent less time moaning about things which are clearly insignificant.

20th July 2019 at 10:19 am #43679Bloody hell, not another debate between the ugly sisters about who’s prettiest again… but then again, with all the wankfest going on about another bunch of Norffern monkeys, I’m guessing they should be referred to as “The Fugly Triplets” from now on… π

20th July 2019 at 10:25 am #43681Anyway, after a dramatic start to the transfer window for us Spuds, all gone a bit quiet. Still expecting perhaps the lad from Fulham, this Argie chap from Spain and possible the CM from Leeds to join before it closes, and hoping for a RB as I most certainly do not have the same faith in the choices we have as Poncho does…
Quite happy for Danny-boy to stay, just can’t figure out what is going on with Toby and Wee Erik. Would love for them both to stay, obviously (and sign new contracts!), and I would have thought if they were to go they would have gone by now. Don’t understand this Toby to Roma one little bit… that is obviously a step-down and a pay-cut at the same time…
Just hoping it’s all sorted before the 8th… would not be happy if they scarpered after that and left a bit of a hole in the squad…

20th July 2019 at 2:18 pm #43690Adlab,
Have you read “Manchester United ruined my life”. Written by Colin Shindler who is a life long City fan?
“Colin Shindler was dealt a cruel hand by Fate when he became a passionate Manchester City supporter. In this brilliant sporting autobiography he recalls the great characters of his youth, like his eccentric Uncle Laurence, as well as his professional heroes. Threaded through these sporting events is the author’s own story, which touches on a universal nerve, growing up in a Jewish family, his childhodd destroyed by the sudden death of his mother and his slow emotional recovery through his love for Manchester City. It is a tale that reveals what it is like to be on the outside looking in, with his nose pressed up against the sweet shop window watching the United supporters take all the wine gums.”
Well worth a read no matter who you support.

21st July 2019 at 7:07 am #43705It’s insane how much money is being thrashed around for so many average players. I must have been worth quite a bit myself in comparison to these times.

21st July 2019 at 7:41 am #43711“Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale is “very close to leaving” the Spanish club, says boss Zinedine Zidane.
The Wales international, 30, was left out of Real’s 3-1 pre-season defeat by Bayern Munich in Houston, USA.
Speaking after the game, Zidane said: “We hope he leaves soon. It would be best for everyone. We are working on his transfer to a new team.
“I have nothing personal against him – but there comes a time where things are done because they must be done.” BBC Football.
Bayern Munich?

21st July 2019 at 9:33 am #43712Bale, another British player that has hugely failed to win over the Madrid fans despite his successes. At Madrid, personality and stature strikes me as being as equally important as talent. Beckham, probably the only recent British player to win over their fans (even though he arguably had less talent than Bale).

21st July 2019 at 10:23 am #43715“we hope he leaves” is a brutal reply from Zidane. At 30,it makes you wonder where it all went wrong for Bale, if it indeed did at all. It’s quite strange that no big clubs are after him. He’s surely worth a gamble. I can’t put my finger on what it is but, even ignoring his fitness record, I’d want Utd to steer well clear of him. Maybe it’s the whole Sanchez thing.
Compare him to Ronaldo though who was still chased by top clubs and eventually joined Juve for a huge fee, despite being a few years older than Bale is now. It seems Real can’t give Bale away
