“Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny has refused to travel on the club’s pre-season tour of the US.
The 33-year-old France defender is out of contract at the end of the 2019-20 season and is a reported target for French clubs Bordeaux, Rennes and Lyon.
“We are very disappointed by Laurent’s actions, which are against our clear instructions,” said Arsenal.
“We hope to resolve this matter and will not be providing any further comment at this time.”
Bordeaux have reportedly offered Koscielny a three-year deal.” BBC.
Not what Arsenal need,
Koschielny still probably their best defender and defence is already their weakness.

11th July 2019 at 1:42 pm #43234According to The Sun, Unai Emery and Arsenal have offered Palace unwanted trio Mohamed Elneny, Carl Jenkinson and Calum Chambers, plus £40m, for Zaha?
I wouldn’t go for that if I were Palace and they have to pay United 25% of any sale too.

11th July 2019 at 1:55 pm #43235Nine, I really fear for Arsenal this season. They’re enduring a legacy of poor buys, have not been able to make much from player sales (rather they’ve let players run their contracts down), have seen very poor commercial growth compared to their rivals and have a very mixed bag of a playing squad with little natural fight and leadership in it. And they don’t now have the resources to spend their way out of trouble. They’re going to have to play the long game now like Liverpool did 4 years ago with Klopp.
Swiss Ramble pretty devastating here:
As Arsenal fans nervously await the outcome of this summer’s transfer window, I thought it might be interesting to look at why the club is facing more financial challenges these days. Some thoughts in the following thread #afcb

11th July 2019 at 2:10 pm #43237This tweet from Arsenal fan Ahmed made me chuckle.
Emery’s 5 captains:
Koscielny – refuses to play
Özil – not interested in Emery
Cech – joined Chelsea staff
Ramsey – moved to Juventus
Xhaka – half of fanbase want him sold729

11th July 2019 at 3:54 pm #43239They are in a poor state. They need two full backs and two centre backs
Decent front line. I thought Xhaka did ok last season but he seems to divide fans

11th July 2019 at 5:57 pm #43241Just like Instagram United with Sanchez,I fear Arse are gonna have to pay Ozil to leave, and maybe cover part of his massive wages.Like we did with RVP & Nani.

11th July 2019 at 6:16 pm #43242Mav, United won’t win the title but they’re not finished in the transfer market yet and I think they’ll probably finish above Arsenal.

11th July 2019 at 6:29 pm #432439-Not a chance mate,Arse will never have a better chance of getting that 4th place with Chelsea losing their best player & under a transfer embargo. One thing it seems they are doing better than anybody else-getting rid of their deadwood. We in the other hand are handing new contracts to all our deadwood.

11th July 2019 at 6:39 pm #43244Mav, that’s what you said last season Mav.?
Now Arsenal are worse off than they were then their defence badly needed strengthening last season and Koschielny who is probably their best defender now wants out which would weaken it further as he has refused to travel for the pre season games, Ramsey their most influential midfield player has left for nothing and they have a very limited transfer budget. Then there’s Ozil?
They’re in a real mess imo mate and it’s going to take some time to get out of it. And I can see Emery agitating to move on next Summer.
All the Gooners will tell you it’s down to Kroenke and I think they’re right.
Arsenal’s one positive is the appointment of Edu as DOF but that’s a medium to long term strategy.

11th July 2019 at 8:50 pm #432489-Kosc is one of them geriatrics Im talking about mate, him leaving its actually a good thing for Arse.Ramsey wasnt playing on regular basis anyway, and if they can get Ozil off and freshen the team up,then they can fight for that 4th place.
Last year Chelsea still had Hazard and no transfer ban.And as for United,we have become Instagram._____________________________

11th July 2019 at 11:05 pm #43249Mav, if you had read any of my previous posts I’m not expecting Chelsea to finish in the top 4 this season for all sorts of reasons.
Specifically on Arsenal though Koschielny may be aging but he’s still Arsenal’s best defender and Ramsey played 28 times for Arsenal in the PL last season. Criminal mate to let a player of Ramsey’s ability leave for free.
You won’t find too many Arsenal fans who think Arsenal will finish in the top 4, you predicted the same last season and this season Arsenal are in a worst place now than they were then and have a very limited transfer budget but they do have one or two exciting youngsters so we’ll see.

12th July 2019 at 6:33 am #43251nothing new or unexpected here for me! Kos,is our best defender (that shows how bad the rest are) but is to old and often injured now and not without a mistkae in him either….id let him go, been a great servant, use whatever money we get in…do we not have any youth CB’s worthy of stepping up….sad days for me but not unespected as i said…

12th July 2019 at 7:40 am #43252Don’t worry Buffy, keep Lucazade and Boomerang happy, and with Dick Emery in charge, you’ll have enough to stay above YooUtd and Chelsea… Of course, with how far the three of you have fallen, that might not be good enough for 4th if one of Leicester/Wolves/Everton have a particularly good season, but you finish top of Banjo’s “How The Mighty Have Fallen” Table.
Oh, just finished reading the Goonie pages “over there”… 🙂

12th July 2019 at 7:50 am #43253is that becuase you page “over there” is dead ….
we have fallen less far as we had less far to fall, what with not being a “big club” spending sill amounts of money….that said, we are actually an utter mess at the moment, this year like many past i have zero expectations for the season, may sound a little silly but it is quite nice, as no expectations means you get less angry not fulfilling them and get the odd nice surprise a long the way!
best i can come up with to keep sane 😉

12th July 2019 at 7:52 am #43254Ha,ha so says the “trophy dodgers” didn’t Chelsea finish above Spurs in the PL last season, eliminate them from the League Cup and win a European trophy too. At least you can say “how the mighty have fallen” about Chelsea, Arsenal and United though!?

12th July 2019 at 8:03 am #43255Stevo@6:33am agree with all of that mate problem is selling him won’t bring much in based on the fact he’s 34 next birthday and in the last year of his contract too plus his injury record.
An injury free season and bringing in someone to play alongside him is what Arsenal really needed to happen. You need to get rid of him now though fee or no fee.
