Be more than happy if we can nick a Europa League place next season Chuckster.
We’ve got a rookie Manager, lost arguably the best player in the PL, we’re still short of a top quality striker, have a two window transfer ban and last season we stumbled over the CL almost by default. On that basis EL would be a bonus next season imo.
As far as I’m concerned Frank has a free hit this season to sort out the current squad bring through one or two more of the exciting youngsters.
I won’t start judging Frank until next season when he’s got a free hand in the transfer market and is in a position to mould the team and squad how he wants it to be having had next Summer’s transfer window to fill in some of the gaps.

Re Ake Chelsea inserted a buy back clause into his contract when they sold him to Bournemouth as they do now with all young players that are sold.
Even without the transfer ban I’m not sure Chelsea would have activated it this Summer given who they already have for the Centre Back spots plus the returns of Zouma and Tomori too all of which currently gives Chelsea too many players for the two Centre Back spots without signing anyone else.

Pogba seemingly off if the right bid comes in. Utd facing the very real prospect of losing Herrera, Pogba and Lukaku in the same window with DDG not far behind. In isolation, any one of those is no big deal but to replace all in one go is some ask, considering how badly Utd needed strengthening even without losing anyone. Could be a long old season

Ed, at the end of the day Pogba has not lived up to his price tag at all. We have seen I flashes how good he is but half of the time he just doesn’t look bothered.

Sean, I don’t disagree that Pogba hasn’t been good enough consistently. But when he has been good, he’s been very good. We can live without him though. My point was more about losing so many in one go, not that any one of those players are irreplaceable, because they’re not.

Nobody in their right minds would pay £80-£90m for Maguire including us.
For that kind of money you would want world class. On todays silly prices he is probably worth £50-£60m but no more than that. And tnat includes a premium for being Englisn.VVD looking better and better value!

£50m, no more. The problem there is they won’t sell him for that, so he’s essentially unavailable, or will be sold way over value… whatever that is, oh wait, the market keeps re-determining that.

City might have spent a lot of money but they don’t over value players. A player will always only be worth what the buying Club are prepared to pay and what the selling Club want for him.
Seemingly City don’t value Maguire at the same level as Leicester who realistically don’t want to sell him hence the exorbitant price.
Problem is the alternatives are limited and City need a Centre Back after Kompany left the Club.

They do alright and Leicester trying to keep their player may push City on to Koulibaly, or someone like that. Now, what would he cost? £100m? More?
Maybe they will cave to Leicesters demands, who know they are putting City in a tough spot and fair dues to them. Southampton did similar (although not entirely the same :P) to us for Van Dijk.
Many laughed at Liverpool for paying £75m. Our own fans (myself included) were nervous about that price tag but when someone breaks the world record fee and then has such a season that he takes a lot of praise from all around the globe… ya, it’s gonna have every other club wondering if they have the next Van Dijk and we’ve seen a few already 😛
I hope Leicester bleed them dry for this but come on, City could drop £100m and not even bat an eye.

Steveo, bearing in mind how long it took us to properly replace Schmeichel, I’m happy for our best player to be given a contract like that. He had a shaky season last season, no doubt due to a really poor defence in front of him. Still by far our best player.
