The Med diet is not only more healthy but also very tasty. A lot to do with the climet.Lampard? Jury is out for me. Wish him luck but not too much.
One more signing for us I think. A CB. Ake maybe?

4th July 2019 at 5:38 pm #43038Nine, how long are you in Catalonia? I’m pretty sure DAZN has the legal broadcasting rights to the Premier League for the next 3 seasons in Spain. For 10EUR a month I really cannot recommend their service any higher, it’s superb for the price. Sadly for me over in DE they lost the rights so I have to get Sky for the forthcoming season, although they broadcast far more games than UK Sky do and still cheaper.
How much has Ake been quoted at? The prices these days for even just an alright but not set the World on fire kinda player are pretty obscene. Ake is pretty rapid but also short for a CB (think he is 180cm).
Regarding Lampard, if he plays Kante in his correct position and moves Jorginho up the pitch a bit so his quality passing can actually be effective then he might do alright. Will be interesting to see how Mount and Hudson-Odoi do under his guidance.

4th July 2019 at 6:17 pm #43039Just saw Lampard a interview. Comes acruss very well
I see he is talking about top 4. Heβs right. Chelsea have a better squad then arsenal at the minute.
Some great players and finishing outside the top 6 be terrible. This squad has been thorn apart. They are more then capable of finishing in the top 4.

4th July 2019 at 6:50 pm #43040AnonymousI seen Aka play often, his a decent average player, Chelsea would not have let him go if he was special. Then again same applies to them, Kovacic also an average player but they paid 40m for him I think.

4th July 2019 at 6:51 pm #43041It doesn’t matter what the fans say because if Lampard does not at least challenge for a top 4 place, he’ll be a goner.
These kind of appointments are brilliant when they come off but they extremely rarely come off. There is absolutely no reason why it would work, though, IMO.
Anyone else has half a decent season with a well financed Derby side and gets the Chelsea job and everyone would be astonished. But give it to the man who is the club’s record scorer (in no way correlated to coaching ability) and it’s seen as a gamble worth taking.
They’ll naturally get off to an absolute brilliant start and the media will be all over him. The true test will be what the club do when the inevitable dip kicks in and there appears to be no way back. For all the sentimentality, the club doesn’t exist to get kids from the academy into the first team. It exists to win trophies and they’ve just let go of a manager who won one trophy, should have probably won another and finished a very respectable 3rd ahead of some strong sides, for a manager with less than a year in coaching who faltered at the final hurdle in the playoffs after spending a decent amount of money.
People say it’s a risk. It’s not a risk because they won’t think twice about ditching him if it does go wrong and they’ll be on the phone to Allegri. Allegri will fancy his chances of being either the Utd manager or the Chelsea manager by the end of this calendar year imo.
And you can screenshot that for when Lampard wins the treble ?

4th July 2019 at 6:53 pm #43042Chelsea would not let Ake go if he was special. KDB? Sturridge? Lukaku? Matic? The latter 2 they tried to re-sign.
Also Chelsea themselves wanted to bring him back!

4th July 2019 at 8:42 pm #43045Moos, I donβt get Kovacic at all.
What does he actually do?? Whatβs his best position?
Ed, very interesting comments on Lampard.
Even if Lampards fails badly, his legacy as a player will never be tarnished.
Itβs going to be very interesting to see how he gets on
Likable bloke I have to say

4th July 2019 at 8:57 pm #43046I think a problem for Solksjaer at Man Utd is that by giving the players the freedom to play where they wanted to play, it lost him some control over them because youβll inevitably lose some player discipline over such things (because youβve given in to them to some extent). Itβs key that Lampard doesnβt fall into this way of thinking. As I said before he needs to have the conviction to play his way, even if it upsets some of the players. Thatβs when a manager earns his crust by instilling that belief into a player to convince him that this particular way works (especially when theyβre not initially convinced).

4th July 2019 at 10:25 pm #43052One difficult decision taken by Lampard already. Zola on his way confirmed by the Club.

4th July 2019 at 10:30 pm #43053Ed, not sure you could class Derby as well financed, their three best players this season were loan players, and the fact theyβve now had to sell their ground to the owner for Β£80m and have still only made a profit of Β£14m. I think they currently spend Β£135 for every Β£100 of turnover. This is not bigging up Frank as I think you are probably right about his credentials itβs just about stating where Derby are right now….Pagan

5th July 2019 at 7:17 am #43055Sorry Pupstar, but it’s too much too soon for Frankie, should have enough quality to stumble over the line for Europa footy next season once the transfer ban is lifted, but if they have a bit of a wobble and/or Everton/Leicester get their respective acts together next season… could be interesting (and you could possibly put YooUtd/Goonies in there too!). The title is a straight shout out between those two with a three-peat most likely, Spuds pretty safe for third, but that 4th spot is going to be really interesting next year.
Going back to transfers, I see Herrera has signed a supposed 5-year deal worth 350k a week at the age of 29… now, I quite liked him to be honest, a very tenacious player, but no frigging way is he worth that. Example #257 that football is simply eating itself in my humble opinion.

5th July 2019 at 7:56 am #43057Family Bag of Mars Bars and 2 cans of Tango (the flavour of your choice, but I warn you now, they don’t do “Humble Pie” flavour), I’ll even throw in a bag of Monster Munch, Pickled Onion Flavour, that Top 3 will be City, Pool, Spuds in that order… strangely enough I actually fancy Goonies for 4th but I wouldn’t put a bag of Sherbert Pips on that.

5th July 2019 at 8:29 am #43060Thing is Buffy, for a number of reasons, I fully expect Spuds to get about 12-15 more points next season than they did last season… and I do not see how YooUtd/Chelski/Goonies are going to match that “addition”. Expect Spuds to finish “mid-eighties” and those three to finish in the 70’s… flares and all.
