All the prices are silly Buffy, but to use an equal level of stupidity would say 40 mill is a bit low. They (Palace) just sold their RB (with 20 minutes experience) for 50 plus… no way would Palace take 40, Spuds will get back the Champions League Final again before that happens… 🙂

2nd July 2019 at 3:31 pm #42913. I guess he’s coming to that age where he has to think about his retirement and his family. of course he might stay there for 3 seasons and come back refreshed and financially able to take on another passion project. Rafa is close to 60 yrs, mate.Lets hope thats the last we see of him, wish we could fuck Jose off to China, too.
Think of his family? The man is a multi-millionaire even without going to China, surely even his great-grand kids would be able to live off his $$$$???_____________________________

2nd July 2019 at 3:40 pm #42914The problem is that all clubs have money and mostly dont need to sell. Zaha is good but £100m!? Dont be silly. What does that make KDB worth? Hazard was cheap by comparison.
Just as when a person borrows money there should be affordability checks. Also at least 75% should be paid up front. This might take the heat out of the market.
Also there have to be debt limits so you cant acquire a player with just more debt.
Whatever is done something needs to be done._____________________________

2nd July 2019 at 4:11 pm #42915So, it’s beginning to look like Terry N-Dumb has signed on the dotted line, not bad at all according to Youtube, so I’ll wait and see him kick a ball in anger before getting too excited. I’m sure there is at least another midfielder of the attacking mould coming in to replace Wee Erik… and still waiting for the two new FB’s we need…

2nd July 2019 at 4:15 pm #42917Really not too keen on our Maguire bid. In today’s crazy market 70mil might just be ok but it’s likely to go up a lot and, in my opinion, he’s a very average defender. Other than that, quite pleased with our business so far. Wan Bissaka was probably the best RB in the PL last season aside from TAA. Big ask for him to kick on from there though, as we saw with Luke Shaw and his early promise.

2nd July 2019 at 4:22 pm #42918Steady,lazy Eddy-And to consider De Ligt is going for £72m?!And to think we were mocking Liverpool for paying £75m for VVD,eh??

2nd July 2019 at 4:28 pm #42919Bale absolutely insisting on staying put at Real so he can keep up with his golf. Just pleased though that our heads haven’t been turned by him. A season or so ago, Woodward would have been all over Bale thinking of the shirt sales and the amount of Instagram followers. The fact we went for the likes of James ahead of Bale might not work but it’s a much more sustainable strategy and one I’m delighted to see.
As for Zaha, he’s definitely worth a fair bit more than that. Much better player than Mahrez, for example, and he went for 60mil. I think he’ll go for 60-70 which is probably about right

2nd July 2019 at 4:32 pm #42920But it’s irrelevant what DeLigt is going for Mav, because we can’t compete for him. In fairness I don’t know who else we could get around 70mil at CB that would be a sure bet to succeed. The likes of Koulibaly are easily 100mil+ and I think even he has looked very average at times.

2nd July 2019 at 4:36 pm #42921I’d personally prefer to see us go for Nathan Ake who I really rate but even he’d be probably 50mil+

2nd July 2019 at 4:36 pm #42922Agree with the Ed Zaha is worth at least £60m in today’s market the higher price put on him by Palace reflects the fact they don’t want to sell him. Apparently Arsenal’s offer of £40m was also for staggered payments over 5 years. ?

2nd July 2019 at 4:40 pm #42923Eddy from Sweden-Agreed,there arent any great defenders out there right now-except MDL & VVD! K2 would be a huge risk considering his age.Should have gone for someone like Manolas,a player who has been very consisten the last few years and only cost £30m! But now, youth must be the way forward.

2nd July 2019 at 8:45 pm #42930If City get Ake for 40mil and we pay 70mil+ for Maguire, we’ve been absolutely done there. We should have been all over Ake at the start of the window

3rd July 2019 at 5:09 am #42933Anonymous£40m is at least “reasonable”, I only put that in quotes because of the crazy market. Maguire is no Van Dijk. £70m would be paying way over the odds.

3rd July 2019 at 6:22 am #42934In fairness, nobody thought Van Dijk was worth 75mil back then though either. Buying someone of near Van Dijk’s quality would probably cost around 200mil in today’s market. Certainly someone like Varane would be up there. I have no issue with us paying top dollar for a very good CB. I just don’t think Maguire is that good. Clearly both Pep and Ole think differently but he’s one I hope we get outbid for.
