28th June 2019 at 1:08 pm #42857A lot for Wan Bissaka? One season! Adlab-If it turns out anything like the utterly useless, fat” cant stay away from MCD & custard” L.Shaw, even a fiver is too much! But if he can improve just a little and stay for the next few years, then it will be a good investment.

28th June 2019 at 1:59 pm #42859Aubameyang is an interesting one Emery needs to create funds to buy and if Lukaku goes to Inter United need to replace him. Aubameyang is probably more of a United player than Lukaku.

30th June 2019 at 3:28 am #42875Anonymous“A lot for Wan Bissaka? One season!”
Honestly, I think the prices have gotten silly.. and not just because thats the way football is going.
Take a look at the price Liverpool paid for Van Dijk and Alisson. Insane figures that some rival fans had a lot of fun with initially. Now? Not a peep. I’m not bragging, just using them as a perfect example of why the value marker has gotten so high. The thing that makes this all not work for me, is because Van Dijk and Alisson are still the extremes. Everyone is demanding these kinds of figures now (or ballpark) for their best players… but of course their best doesn’t equate to THE best.
The market always rights itself. Some of these lads will go for silly money and they will fail at their new clubs. The scars will be topic of discussion, instead of the successes and we’ll see sense prevailing, to an extent.
Now, obviously there is an ongoing , upward financial trend within the game. I don’t expect to ever see a good player sell for 10m again but I can see 20 to 30m being the values once more. Maybe Im wrong.. They cant all be going for 50+.. is it just me or are transfers way down this year? …

30th June 2019 at 3:32 pm #42882AnonymousPrices are going totally insane alright. Clubs see Van Dijk etc going for 75 and think “we can get 50 for our star player” but… only a desperate club would agree to this, unless we’re talking about a special talent.

30th June 2019 at 3:43 pm #42883The transfer fees are bonkers but as always a player is only worth what the selling club demands and what the buying Club is prepared to pay and in the case of the European Clubs whether a buyout figure is included in the players contract.
The alleged Zaha fee is Palace putting a price on him to scare other clubs off having already sold Bissaka.
I’m sure there will be sillier prices paid still yet in the PL.

1st July 2019 at 7:32 am #42889Rafa’s letter to the Newcastle fans piles massive pressure on Ashley.
Dear NUFC fans.
Thank you for three fantastic, exciting and, at times, challenging years.
What we have had here β your support, your affection and your passion β has been unbelievable for me.
St Jamesβ Park has been always special, the 5-1 win against Tottenham , 15-05-2016, was so emotional that since that day I have always felt as though I belonged at Newcastle and I thank you for making me feel so welcome and at home.
Thank you to everyone at the club who has helped the team and of course to the fine players who grew and fought with us and to the staff (One of the best I have ever shared time with).
From winning the Championship, to our two season in the Premier League, fans, staff and players have all been United. I wanted to stay, but I didnβt just want to sign an extended contract, I wanted to be part of a project.
Unfortunately, it became increasingly clear to me that those at the top of the Club did not share the same vision.
Iβm very sad about that, but I do not regret for one moment my decision to come to Tyneside and Iβm very proud about what we achieved together.
I will always have you in my heart. Best of luck for the future. Cβmon Toons!

2nd July 2019 at 3:56 am #42890AnonymousAs expected, Rafa has signed with that Chinese club. He’ll more than double his salary and after such a shitty time at newcastle, you kinda couldn’t blame him for cashing out but I just feel kinda sad about the whole thing. Ya, sad for the guy pulling in a minimum of Β£12m/year… but I’m not talking about the money.
Rafa is a truly great manager and he deserves to be a top, ambitious club. I guess he’s coming to that age where he has to think about his retirement and his family. of course he might stay there for 3 seasons and come back refreshed and financially able to take on another passion project.
As for Newcastle, the fans have no more reason to not form a complete boycott of the club. Previously, there had been a divide between fans who were unhappy and unwilling to fund the club and those who were also unhappy but wanted to support the lads…
Rafa leaving like this unifies them. Their light at the end of the tunnel is out and they know who’s responsible. I would bet money on significant action from the supporters.

2nd July 2019 at 8:17 am #42900these rules seem to have flown under the radar….
i think if every PL club had a Β£50m budget less than arsenals that would be good, so everyone would have a minus -Β£10m budget this year….

2nd July 2019 at 2:16 pm #42904That’s a bit cheap, even for the Goonies… in today’s ridiculous market, you have to be looking at somewhere in the 60/70 range at least… (but not the 100 that the Budgies are after!).
