Mak, If Coutinho goes he will go for a lot less than the supposed Β£140m Barca paid for him but it’s unlikely to be as low as Β£50m imo.
I doubt Coutinho will end up at Chelsea although allegedly is his favoured option given the current transfer ban plus the Club are turning down all offers on any major loan players until Frank is through the door which is probably next week and I’m sure the same will apply to potential buys should the Club request CAS to suspend the ban???

23rd June 2019 at 6:55 am #42763Spurs or rather Daniel’s asking price of allegedly Β£100m for Eriksen will put off potential suitors given he’s in the last year of his contract.
It might work in Spurs favour with a frustrated Eriksen signing a new improved contract alternatively he could do a Ramsey and sit it out and sign for free and big wages to one of the European Clubs in January. Always a risk in these situations.

23rd June 2019 at 12:21 pm #42764AnonymousNine, I get you but that’s the value I put on him. If a club wants to pay (what I feel are) over the odds, it’s up to them. Who knows, maybe he’ll be right back to the 100m player if he gets the right team but you’d be upset if Chelsea paid that for him after the last season, right? Anyway, its all moot as he’ll surely end up at PSG. I cant see anyone else making an offer that Barca will accept. Liverpool have received well over Β£120m at this point. It may even have reached 130… I know they triggered a sum when they reached the CL semi’s and they did it again in the cupa del ray final too.
AS for Spurs, they havent a hope of getting anywhere near 100m. I guess he’ll be running down his contract, or maybe signing a new one.

23rd June 2019 at 12:56 pm #42765Mak, agreed mate I think Barca will be very fortunate to get circa Β£100m for Coutinho.
I doubt he will be coming to Chelsea even without the transfer ban it’s a regular goalscorer that’s Chelsea’s priority.
There’s a promising Egyptian lad who looks capable of scoring a few at Chelsea. Oh hold on some idiot sold him.?
Double edged sword Spurs holding out for unrealistic fees in the case of Eriksen Spurs could end up losing him for nothing and then the players Spurs want Clubs will feel what’s good for the goose is good for the gander and may unrealistic fees of Spurs as well.
But that’s Daniel for you. Eriksen be a good signing for Liverpool at the right price imo he would add a bit of creativity to your midfield? But not at Β£100m.

23rd June 2019 at 1:10 pm #42766Reading in the press again today suggestions of United wanting to sign Kante where do they get this stuff from. I’m sure Chelsea would like to sign Neymar and Mbappe. but it’s never going to happen even without a transfer ban.?

23rd June 2019 at 2:03 pm #42767AnonymousNine, maybe you remember but Spurs actually poached Eriksen from us, originally. This was back when Spurs were the better side, getting CL when I think we weren’t. It’s weird how over time , the top 6 has been doing quite a bit of rotation, amongst themselves anyway. I mean who knows, Spurs could finish above us next season but of course that will only happen if Levy is genuinely ambitious.
Could Eriksen be holding out on a contract decision, based upon this ambition and ability to keep Poch? It’s got to be a pretty big factor and it might just be enough to force the ball into motion. Honestly, I can only hope that Spurs do push on, they deserve to get something from Poch’s time in charge. Like Rafa at Newcastle, you have to offer the manager the tools to take the club as fart as he can and neither club is anywhere near as supportive as they should be, in my opinion. Obviously newcastle have a much stingier owner, who really only has the bottom line in mind. Their fans must be praying for the take-over to happen already but it won’t be on time for Rafa, or the transfer window.

23rd June 2019 at 5:00 pm #42768Mak, little known fact we had Eriksen on trial at Chelsea as a kid and he played 3 games for the Under 18’s but at the time at such a young age he felt it was too big a step to sign for Chelsea.?

24th June 2019 at 3:18 pm #42776Rafa leaves Newcastle and is immediately linked with the Chelsea job.
Rumours on a Frank appointment have been too strong for that to happen now imo.
Appointing Rafa would be seen as going backwards particularly by the match going fans although he might be a safe pair of hands whilst Frank is seen as an exciting appointment and going forwards
Rafa wouldnβt be that well accepted again by the fans as there has been universal support for a Frank appointment.
Whilst I understand the linkage Frank still looks likely to be tied up this week.
βWith the appointment of Petr Cech as the Technical and Performance Advisor, the Blues are trying to bring the feel-good factor back to Stamford Bridge.
However, appointing Benitez would take that away in an instant and the Blues board will not be planning on doing that.
Lampard is still expected to be the new head coach, with a resolution to be this week.β Football London

24th June 2019 at 3:23 pm #42777AnonymousConfirmed, Rafa is leaving Newcastle. Mike Ashley is a tight arse and I hope it costs him.
A shame though. You wondered what they could be like if they just backed him but Ashley clearly just wants to do the bare minimum to collect that PL TV money. I guess he thinks a mid table Rafa side can be led by someone else and still not get relegated. Maybe he’s right but its a he’ll of a risk and a huge wasted opportunity.
A shame now as Rafa will likely go manage in China for insane money. I hope he waits for a good, ambitious side of course but you can’t hold it against him. He really wanted it to work out at Newcastle. He rightly saw potential there but Ashley needs to sell for that to be realised.
Like, Ashley wouldn’t allow the signing of Rondon! Imagine that…. he was too old for a long term contract… what a stupid, counter productive policy.

24th June 2019 at 5:37 pm #42780Agree Mav Rafa deserves a top 6 Club that can compete for honours.
United are out of it because of the history between the two Clubs and if you go through the others there are reasons why he wouldn’t be appointed . Leicester would have been a good appointment for him and allegedly they were interested by Rafa stood loyal to Newcastle. Terrible owner who never backs his Managers.
Can only see Rafa going abroad now.
