Double B-Crazy m8,absolutely bonkers imho! Can see some silly deals going ahead once the WC is over. Also, how on earth can Mahrez be talked of £50m player? Not much worth than £25m imho.

5th July 2018 at 9:03 am #23598Mav, although I have reservations about how Mahrez can improve our 1st team and squad and don’t think he’s worth anywhere near the £90m Leicester were originally asking. He has been PFA player of the year and instrumental in Leicester winning the PL. He is a quality player and is on a long contract and if Sanchez, Pogba, Dick Van Dyke were sold for what they were it’s fair enough to expect Mahrez to go for about £50-60m? He is certainly worth more than £25m. Cheers Jim

5th July 2018 at 1:35 pm #23601Jim-In the current market yes I agree, but not based on his qualities. He is not on the same league as Pogba and Sanchez, and VVD is a defender, cannot be compared. But if Fellaini is worth £27.5m,then yes,Mahrez should be worth @m least double that. But if he is not coming to improve the 1st team,£50-£60m to stay as a sub?

5th July 2018 at 1:50 pm #23603City are doing the right thing in improving their squad imo by looking to recruit Jorginho and Mahrez £100m is crazy money for the both of them but the transfer market is bonkers and if City have got the money and can justify it good luck to them.
It’s a squad game now especially when you’re chasing 4 trophies and it will make it an even bigger challenge for everyone else to try and catch them in the PL.

5th July 2018 at 2:11 pm #23604Jorginho is absolutely a class player, was hoping United would go for him instead of Fred tbh.

5th July 2018 at 2:34 pm #23605Pogba vs Mahrez interesting debate Mav. Why do you think Pogba is a much better player than Mahrez? It can’t be based on goals and assists as his stats over his career as a whole and the even last season were worse than Mahrez and yet you state that he is not in the same league as a player who you value at 3-4 times the value of? Serious question Mav

5th July 2018 at 2:40 pm #23606Pointless debate lads a players value is decided by the market place and what another club is prepared to pay for him.
It’s been that way ever since United paid a record fee of £115,000 for Denis Law when buying him from Torino.

5th July 2018 at 2:50 pm #23607Fair point nine, I supose what I was asking was why does Mav think Pogba is in a different league as a player than Mahrez as his goal and assist stats don’t substantiate the claim?

5th July 2018 at 3:15 pm #23608Jim, actually career wise Pogba has slightly more goals and assists than Mahrez according to Transfermarkt and has often played far deeper.
But it’s all irrelevant mate, if City think Mahrez is worth what Leicester want for him and are ultimately prepared to pay it that’s what he’s worth.

5th July 2018 at 3:40 pm #23610Jim-I should have not compared the 2 players, different completely! No player is worth what they are going for right now,but Mahrez just not a type of player that makes the difference in big games! As for Sanchez,I wouldnt have gone anywhere near him if I was in charge. But,where does he fit @ City?

5th July 2018 at 4:27 pm #23615Nine. Clearly I am little bored at work so I went and checked ? Pogba career wise has 47 goals and 45 assists in all comps at a ratio of 1 goal every 436mins and 1 assist every 455 minutes. Mahrez has bizarrely also 47 goals and only 34 assists but these were scored at a ratio of 1 goal every 280mins and 1 assist every 387mins. I don’t wish to sound ungreatful but I have to echo Brian when I say I can’t see how Mahrez will add to this City team. If we were linked with Pogba I would be disappointed. Jim

5th July 2018 at 4:35 pm #23616Anonymousjim – something you have to understand about mav. he doesnt want any world class players at united. he doesnt want any current premier league players at united. he doesnt want any united players at united. no player is good / young enough to play for united.

5th July 2018 at 5:48 pm #23619Jim, I don’t think Mahrez is a game changer signing for City but he definitely strengthens the squad and it’s a squad game nowdays particularly for a club like City fighting on so many fronts.
Clearly Pep rates him given how hard he has tried to sign him across two windows. Cheers 999

5th July 2018 at 6:25 pm #23623Pax-United only has one world-class player and that is DDG! I would Like a different manager to start with,a manager who would start with clearing-out all the deadwood we have @ the club.i.e.Young,Valencia,Fellaini,Jones,Shaw,etc.We did finish 19 points behind the title-winning team, right? Never wanted or want to have the most expensive players in the world like PSG or Real Madrid, but for a manager to build a team like we used to in the past.A added bonus would be to be playing entertaining football and not fall into a coma with 6 defenders like Jose does!

5th July 2018 at 6:36 pm #23624Forgot to add, the local lads to be given a chance, instead of overpriced, overrated foreign imports like Darmian,Fellaini,Mata,Herrera,Sanchez etc blocking the next Kane,Scholes,Giggs,Neville-s,Rio,Beckam,Gerrard,Lampard,Terry,Cole-s,Owen,Fowler,Shearer,Lineker,etc from been unearthed.Much rather go a few years without winning anything @ all but building a successful side, without wasting millions on players like Fellaini!
