Jim & 9 ,Levy is a very astute businessman who knows fuck all about football.
As it stands we will be a weaker team than last season which is indefensible, if i was a Spurs player I would look at this lack of ambition and probably start looking for another club .
When Poch signed his new contract he asked Levy to take risks and be brave ……..yeah right._____________________________

9th August 2018 at 1:52 pm #25053Anonymousbricklayers – i completely agree with you. levy has proven he doesnt care about winning trophies and our current players wont like that at all. i think we need to see this as our last season with players like kane and eriksen.

9th August 2018 at 1:57 pm #25054Is this all tied up with the problems of Spurs financing the new ground the same happened at Arsenal?

9th August 2018 at 1:59 pm #25055Dunno Bricky, standing still, yes, but I wouldn’t say weaker. Putting on my glass half full glasses, both Rose and Lamela are coming back from long-term serious injuries, and Vicky had a fair few issues last season. Add into the mix Lucas now has a proper pre-season under his belt, that’s almost like 4 new (ish) signings. We still have Moose and Toby too (at time of writing anyway! LOL).
We may have made a bit of a tit’s up with wee Jacky, but do you want another Disco Sisisikko or “What’s a barndoor” Jannssen? Or even another “Granddad” Llrornette?
Personally, I like what Pool have done, spunk the cash on same players who are going straight into the first team (and the Stoke lad). And if you think about it, in todays market you’re looking at 100 mil plus to get somebody who would arguably walk into our 1st 11.
With the stadium to pay for, the last thing I want us to do is just waste money on more dross that we can’t even shift.
Our first team (or one of them!):
Lloris
Trippier, Van the Man, Dirty Sanchez, Davies
Moose, Dier,
Ali, Erik, Son,
Kanewith
Lamela, Lucas, Toby, Vicky, Winks, Rose, Vorm
Not that bad to be honest…
Still want Bale…. 🙂

9th August 2018 at 2:07 pm #25056AnonymousPaxton, sadly I think you’re right, this was the most important transfer window for Spurs in years and he’s let the fans and players down.
9 , according to Levy the transfer fund was set aside and wasn’t linked to the new ground , I think he was telling Porkies._____________________________

9th August 2018 at 2:07 pm #25057I’m glad that Zinchenko turned down Wolves. On todays prices £16m is not enough and he is a good utility player and is young and can improve.
Jose looked miffed in his press conference.
Sky seem mortified that so far Utd have not signed anybody. Interesting Minna going to Everton – one of Utds targets.

9th August 2018 at 2:09 pm #25058Joking aside, I still think 1st & 2nd are sorted (City and Pool) but as for the rest? All up for grabs. The one issue Spuds don’t have is new managers implementing a new style of football with more than a few new players who also need to adapt the the Prem (Chelsea and Arsenal). Don’t also think things are that rosy at YooUtd either. Relatively settled squad with a couple of additions (of oversea’s players!) and hardly light years ahead of the London trio to start with, and we all know what typically happens in Maureen’s 3rd season, don’t we?
Anyway, still waiting for this Austin Powers signing Spuds have supposedly made, our “International Man of Mystery”… could it be Goosey-Lucy? Yeah, baby, yeah… (sorry, went all silly again!).

9th August 2018 at 2:10 pm #25059Ed and Mav . Why do you think Utd havent signed anybody?
The US stock market?
Jose’s longevity?I think both

9th August 2018 at 2:32 pm #25060Jim, I would say Spurs are a very good team and a much more settled team than Chelsea currently with a Manager who is a very good Manager who unlike Sarri knows the PL very well and on that basis if we say positions 1 to 3 are probably settled in whatever order between City, Liverpool and United then imo Spurs are probably the still the favourites currently to finish in 4th place ahead of Chelsea despite the bookies rating the odds for both teams as equal.
I would be disappointed if Chelsea don’t challenge strongly for a top 4 place though as we have shed the problems surrounding Conte and improved the team substantially with the signings of Jorginho and Kovacic and considering we only finished 5 points off of 4th place last season I think Chelsea will go very close if not claiming a top 4 spot.
If it doesn’t work out in the PL Chelsea are favourites with the bookmakers to win the Europa League so maybe we can reclaim a CL place there.? Cheers 999

9th August 2018 at 2:49 pm #25062BJ-Yes in the final since its only a one game mate, but you got spanked 5-1 on agg in 2 games.
Adlab-If Jose doesnt explode and go all-Chelsea on United,I fully expect United to fight Liverpool for the 2nd place, the improvements were required to challenge for the title, albeit it wont happen now.

9th August 2018 at 2:53 pm #25063Can I have some of what you’re smoking?
I remember a 4-1 to Spuds at Wembly and a 2-2 at Anfield… certainly don’t remember any of those games being considered a “Mashed Potatoes”… don’t recall the cup games (is that what you mean?)

9th August 2018 at 3:11 pm #25065Considering Real Madrid are selling their best players, the CL this year will be very interesting.PSG and City have the best squads on paper,so Liverpool it is then!

9th August 2018 at 3:24 pm #25068Mav, I think BJ was right though City were unlucky in the two ties v Liverpool the Salah goal in the first game should have been ruled offside, the City goal they scored at the Etihad shouldn’t have been ruled out for offside which would have seen City go into the break 2 nil up and City hit the post too.
Credit though to Liverpool on riding their luck and deservedly going through.
Unfortunately for Liverpool that luck ran out in the CL Final. I was convinced that given Liverpool’s good fortune in those games v City the Gods were in their favour and they would you on to win the CL sadly it didn’t work out like that.

9th August 2018 at 3:30 pm #2506927-Yes m8,but the game ended 5-1 on agg. With Real Madrid seemingly breaking-up their squad, I can see Liverpool going all the way, albeit City and PSG having the best squads-on paper!

9th August 2018 at 3:34 pm #25070Mav, not denying that mate but all the big moments in those ties went in Liverpool’s favour and goals change games had those breaks gone City’s way we would probably have seen a different outcome.
