“Chelsea are set to sign Real Madrid midfielder Matteo Kovacic on a season-long loan, according to reports in Spain. The 24-year-old has already expressed his desire to leave Madrid this summer as he is unhappy with the amount of playing time he has received since he joined from Inter in a £22.5 million deal three years ago. Despite Kovacic wanting to change clubs this summer, Madrid have been reluctant to sell and have attempted to convince the midfielder to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu. But according to Marca, Madrid have now given up with their efforts to keep Kovacic and the Croatia international is now on the verge of joining Chelsea on loan for the new season. The report claims that Chelsea have reached an agreement with the player and the deal will be announced at some point on Tuesday.”

I know it’s Chelsea and 4×6.25 will get his knickers in a knot, but if we wanted prove the “loan” system is completely being “abused”, how can a team with 23 players, and counting, “out-on-loan” be allowed to “in-on-loan”? (If the above story about Koviac is true of course!)

Totally agree Chucky a Club of Chelsea’s stature bringing in a player of Kovavic’s stature makes a mockery of the loan system if that is what happens but it’s up to the authorities to sort it out. By the way 4× 6.25 = 25 not 27. ?

I’m not sure about the credibility of these Kovacic stories surely Real would have held back on doing a deal until on Kovacic until they had agreed a price with Chelsea on Courtois.

Good bit of business by Chelsea though if it happens.
