Chucky, clubs usually require written transfer requests and are unlikely to accept any of the above. Anyway going AWOL is a much more effective way to ehsure a move albeit accompanied by a big fine. Courtois will be gone as soon as Chelsea have secured a replacement.

6th August 2018 at 7:52 pm #24909Surely he didnt have to be @ the training,he could have just handed in the request and off to the nearest pub? I take it players drink too?

6th August 2018 at 8:00 pm #24910AnonymousIf as expected Toby goes to Utd it could be too late to get a replacement, so as with Walker we go in to a new season weaker ……..loving the thinking behind that Baldy.

6th August 2018 at 8:01 pm #24911Boateng is a top class defender. Vastly improved after he left city but utd need full backs in my opinion.
Utd were good at the back last season. Jose has bought two centre backs for 60m so is lindolf going to be cast a side?
I donβt think sky have a clue whatβs going on. Pickford was Chelseaβs 1st choice now itβs Butland who is very average and no way a top pl teams number one. I wouldnβt believe that for a minute

6th August 2018 at 8:05 pm #24912Mav. allegedly Courtois was due to return to training and allegedly he had a meeting arranged with Sarri. He did neither. Poor form imo.
There’s a picture of Courtois on twitter in a Spar in Tenerife today? You couldn’t make it up if true.?

6th August 2018 at 8:09 pm #24914Sean, I would be more worried if Sky were saying we were in for Karius.?
On a serious note where do Chelsea go for a Keeper now there are very few alternatives I would prefer Oblak but he has a 100m Euro buy out clause.
All our own fault tbh, poor planning at Board level it’s not as if Courtois contract situation is a suprise.

6th August 2018 at 8:09 pm #24915Anonymous9 , isn’t about time there was a level of comeback on players who don’t turn up/refuse to play apart from fines ??

6th August 2018 at 8:12 pm #24917Ye Iβm not sure nine. Iβm not a fan of Butland. We were heavily linked with him in may and was hoping it wasnβt true
I donβt rate him. Never impressed by him

6th August 2018 at 8:20 pm #24921Sean, would Chelsea be looking to buy Butland were it not for the current situation they find themselves in with Courtois? Probably not. But we are where we are and we need a Keeper because Courtois has to go now. I saw a but if Butland yesterday and he made a great save and then let in a really difficult goal but when he’s played against Chelsea he’s often been brilliant.
Ultimately I think it will all come down to who Chelsea can sign between now and Thursday currently Butland looks the most obvious and the easiest to get as I said I would like to see Oblak coming in but Β£89m is crazy money and I don’t think we could fund it taking FFP into account as currently we’ve sold no one to generate extra funds.

6th August 2018 at 8:35 pm #24923Butland is the only obvious choice now for Chelsea and his not too bad, every keeper has his days, De Gea rated the best in the world had a terrible world cup. Theres always room for improvement as well.

6th August 2018 at 8:36 pm #24924Bayern sold Kroos and he turned out alright didn’t he? Vidal just about to join Barca too. Boateng is a completely different player from the one who left City. Look how much he’s won since leaving there at club and international level. Streets ahead of Maguire whichever way you look at it.

6th August 2018 at 8:43 pm #24926I think Butland is a good keeper, a mistake last week end but there is not a keeper playing to day that will not make a similar mistake so I would not hold it against him. Boateing, his time at City, was injury riddled and I do not think he really wanted to be in Manchester. Agree with what has been said, if he was still quality and injury free Bayern Munich would still have him in the squad, they would not let him go. I think he will stay in Germany somewhere

6th August 2018 at 8:50 pm #24927So is it Toby, MacGuire or Botang? Or are YooUtd simply planning on playing 7 cd’s every game and hit long to the Romulan up top?

6th August 2018 at 10:04 pm #24932Kroos was something to do with what he wanted in terms of money and what Bayern were prepared to give,I believe.Vidal is closing on 32 Ed mate, they just trying to get some money back for him, very good piece of business selling players that old!.Boateng ahead of Maguire any day of the week, ideally neither.

7th August 2018 at 8:45 am #24934Anonymous999 – you are aware that you don’t have to pay the release clause to sign players. there is this technique used called negotiating which can be very effective. the release clause is a fee that the selling club have to accept. they can if they want accept a lower offer. ronaldo’s release clause was something like 500m euros (maybe more) but he didnt go for that.
