Hopefully the news in today’s papers is accurate and Chelsea won’t be bullied by Real into selling them Hazard at the kind of price they have been floating around.
If Coutinho went for £142m and Real turned down bids for Asensio of £130m Hazard’s price is north of both imo and Chelsea don’t want to sell him anyway.

22nd July 2018 at 1:02 pm #24302It maybe the going rate but it is getting out of hand. Clubs should say no. Too much. And with the money saved reduce season tickets

22nd July 2018 at 1:31 pm #24304Where are those figures from Mav? 70m for Zaha is ridiculous. He’s good but surely no one thinks he is as good as Mahrez do they?

22nd July 2018 at 1:39 pm #24305Big Jim-Media m8,newspapers are running riot with all sorts of bull! United are been linked with Maguire and Willian for crazy money! Willian being 30 years old is simply stupid, same goes for Alderweireld or whatever his name is? There is far too much money in the game,so many teams able to afford average players, and now China getting involved as well.

22nd July 2018 at 2:29 pm #24306Mav, I would take Higuain over Lewandowski because of his relationship with Sarri but I would like us to give both Michy and Morata another season too.

22nd July 2018 at 2:48 pm #24307I agree with Adlab the PL needs to make sure that more of this money gets through to the match going fans. Something they seem incapable of understanding the importance of. Put a cap on home ticket prices and the ridiculous prices clubs charge for the shit food and drink served by incompetent people.

22nd July 2018 at 3:32 pm #24308Transfer prices are driven up from outside the PL as well, so far the most expensive outfield signing is by City with Mahrez who is also a club refresh signing, although that prce will get beaten for sure.
The PL can’t afford to be out of kilter with the other major European Leagues the PL transfer window closing on the 9th August is already a disadvantage.
The Zaha price is currently pure media speculation on what Palace might require in order to agre to sell him.

22nd July 2018 at 3:43 pm #24310The recommendation of FFP 2 which has gone quite currently would limit all club’s actoos all the major Leagues in Europe to 100m Euros net spend per season which would go a long way to controlling expenditure and transfer prices. But imo any control of transfers should be managed on a pan European basis.

22nd July 2018 at 6:49 pm #24311Sky Italia reporting Chelsea have accepted a bid of £67.1m for Willian from Barcelona?
Good money for a 30 year old if accurate.

22nd July 2018 at 7:00 pm #243123×9-If true m8 would represent a much better piece of business than Ramirez and Oscar, and @ the same time would most probably mean Hazard staying as I cannot see Courtois,Hazard, and Willian allowed to leave.

22nd July 2018 at 7:18 pm #24314Utter nonsense 9! Lukaku and Pogba were more expensive. And UEFA are just as bad as FIFA bent and incompetant as a forty pence piece. IF only the FA could take over or we could go out own way? Oh wait a minute the FA!

22nd July 2018 at 7:59 pm #24315Jim, to be fair City have spent more on transfers than any other PL club over the last two years that’s not a criticism because I don’t begrudge City their expenditure or anyone else for that matter how could I but transfer prices reflect the marketplace and it is driven by the club’s Chelsea were responsible in the early Abramovich years of driving the prices up and the fees between the major European Club’s also impinge on the fees in the PL.
I know you’ve got a bit of a thing with UEFA but putting UEFA to one side for a moment the proposal of limiting Club’s expenditure to 100m Euros net would limit Club’s expenditure almost certainly reduce transfer prices and would potentially allow club’s to reduce ticket prices which was your objective.

22nd July 2018 at 8:24 pm #24316Mav, not sure mate Courtois will almost certainly go imo because he’s in the last year of his contract and if Real really want Hazard they are going to have to come up with a much higher offer than their current suggested offers certainly imo well north of the £142m Barca paid for Coutinho and even then Chelsea are likely to be reluctant sellers.
I will be sad to see Willian leave but if the offer is accurate it’s too good to turn down given his age.
I’m not too bothered about Courtois but I wouldn’t want to lose Hazard and the key to Chelsea’s season is who they can bring in of sufficient quality to replace any of the players that might be sold.

22nd July 2018 at 8:47 pm #243189 firstly your statement was plain wrong. lukaka and Pogba and Dick Van dike cost more than Mahrez in transfer fees. The statement and my response was nothing to do with who has spent more so stop changing topic. Secondly I suggest you do a straw pol amoungst your mates and see who is in favour of Fifa and UEFA and they way they govern the sport. You might be surprised. They stink of corruption and incompetence but you know that don’t you.

22nd July 2018 at 10:26 pm #24319Jim, just to clarify what I said was that Mahrez is the highest transfer fee for an outfield player my mistake for not confirming in this Summer window but that was clearly what I meant.
We can’t just blame everyone else for the inflation in transfer prices both Chelsea and City are guilty of expansive spending which has helped to increase transfer prices and the transfer fees paid by the major European Club’s have added to that.
Real paid £80m for Ronaldo more than 8 years ago now and the major European Club’s have significantly helped to drive up transfer fees in the last 12 months Coutinho £142m, Mbappe £166m and Neymar £200m
I’m obviously aware that Pogba,Lukaku and Van Dijk went for record fees but we can’t just wash our hands and say it’s got nothing to do with our Clubs and the inflated transfer fees are just down to United and Liverpool albeit like Chelsea and City they have both played their part.
What football fans think of both UEFA and FIFA is not really relevant as to whether limiting Club’s expenditure to 100m Euros net is a good idea or not.
If it were to contribute to limiting Club’s over spending, reducing transfer prices and perhaps encouraging Club’s to reduce ticket prices for fans surely that would only be a good thing imo. Cheers 999
