It is a pity about the Ox, he was looking the business before the injury after a slowish start to his Pool career.
As for replacing him, it seems Kloppster knew about this for a while and I reckon this is why they’ve bought a couple of decent midfielders/attacking midfielders already, along with the Fekir (potential) signing.
All in all, they’re looking favorites for 2nd for sure, still can’t see past City for top spot. As for the Cups, who really knows, but nobody will fancy drawing them in any of them.
Just wish Poncho would get his wallet out…

19th July 2018 at 7:39 am #24174We are still light though.
We need a number ten and cover for Firmino
Fekir deal is off going by reports.
Cheksea have a fantastic squad with a brilliant new manager
City will run away with the league
Utd have a very good squad aswell
Spurs are very consistent. I wouldn’t write anyone off
Jim, no excuses. Klopp has to win something this season
If I’m honest, I don’t think we will. We play well for the majority of the season but when it comes to the final hurdle , we will fail like we have done in previous years

19th July 2018 at 7:53 am #24175Mak. You need to win something! Then there is a little matter of City, Utd, Chelsea, Spurs.
I question whether Klopp has got it. League cup maybe._____________________________

19th July 2018 at 8:11 am #24176Sean, no one knows what will happen this coming season. I doubt City will run away with it again, but I also happen to think we will be a bit stronger as the team gels better. Liverpool will be right up there along with Chelsea who always bounce back after a poor season. If I were a United fan i would be worried. The WC showed how Lukaku and Pogba can play. The question is can Mouriniho get them to do that at United? The evidence of last season indicates that he can’t. He hasn’t moved with the times imo. Interesting to see how Arsenal fair with a new manager tbh their squad is pretty poor months will have to buy a few quality players.

19th July 2018 at 8:13 am #24177I think Spuds have kinda peaked myself, be very surprised if we get Top4 again, especially if we don’t get some top draw signings.
If we lose both Toby and Moose, and that look’s likely, highly unlikely we’ll replace with equal or even better quality. Going to be a small step back whichever way you look at it.

19th July 2018 at 8:25 am #24178Chucky Poch works miracles every season with the budget Levy gives him. You guys tend to think the same every season. Then he comes up with a gem like Tripier or Ali.

19th July 2018 at 8:34 am #24180I suspect Klopp’s quotes of never wanting to spend big like United etc may be raised in press conferences this season.?
Liverpool have stepped up a level now and they are now one of the clear favourites for the title alongside City and that’s a new kind of pressure.
It makes the new season even more appealing imo with City and Liverpool slugging it out for the title maybe United too.
Unlike last season I think we might get a much closer fight for the title which has to be good news for the PL.

19th July 2018 at 8:48 am #24182I wouldn’t worry too much about Spurs not buying anyone yet other than Liverpool nobody has been really active in the transfer market yet a lot can happen in the next three weeks and I think it will.

19th July 2018 at 9:06 am #24184cant see Chelsea doing too much in Sarri’s initial season his style cant be implemented overnight-his no Conte so maybe hope for a top 4 finish.

19th July 2018 at 10:18 am #24187Sean, there’s far too much uncertainty and far too much to do at Chelsea including implementing a whole new system of playing under a new Mansger for a title challenge I would happily take 4th place now if it was on offer!?

19th July 2018 at 10:47 am #24189Swap deal being suggested Gianluigi Donnarumma for Morata?
He’s very young at 19 but a real talent and solves the Keeper problem but it leaves a striker problem?

19th July 2018 at 10:47 am #24190Jim-Not worried at all for the coming season,as dont expect United to win the title! Expect it to be a fight between City and Liverpool for the title,Chelsea and Arsenal have new managers so dont expect them to finish ahead of us either.Spurs will probably be there or thereabouts too,but it appears United are not losing the only world-class player we have-in DDG,which would have really killed any hope we had of top4.If by December-January United are out of the title race,I expect Jose to leave @ the end of the season.Simples!

19th July 2018 at 1:02 pm #24194Sean, me too mate but I’m split as to whether it’s a good decision or not given his age but there are so few top strikers available.
He’s close to Sarri which will probably be the deciding factor in any transfer although Poch is from Argentina?
Tbh I would have liked to see Morata given another chance under Sarri as I think he might prosper under Sarri’s brand of football but it looks like we might do a deal with Milan for Donnarumma swapping him for Morata?

19th July 2018 at 1:05 pm #24195Bookies have suspended betting on Courtois to Real so it doesn’t look like Sarri will get the chance to look him in the eye. I can’t see Chelsea letting him go though until they sign a replacement.

19th July 2018 at 2:10 pm #24196Re Hazard if a deal can be done I think Hazard would like to go to Real but Chelsea dont want to sell him and seemingly value Hazard at £200m plus and seemingly wouldn’t let him go without he puts in a transfer request which I think he will be reluctant to do and Real don’t want to spend the kind of money Chelsea would want for Hazard.
That’s my guesstimate on it all putting all the bits and pieces together.
I think how it might work out is that some kind of deal is done where both Hazard and the club revisit it all next Summer with some sort of buy out clause agreed if Hazard still wants to go then which also might involve a more generous contract as part of that.
Sarri has said he wants Hazard to stay and wants to talk to Hazard face to face and experience his training methods for 4/5 days and Hazard doesn’t return until 5/08 which makes any transfer this big very difficult to pull off in such little time because Chelsea not only don’t want to sell Hazard but won’t let him go without a suitable major replacement is secured.
A swap deal involving Asensio might overcome that but Chelsea would probably still want something between £100m/£150m plus Asensio to make that happen and I think Real will find that too rich even for them.
Courtois is a very different kettle of fish to Hazard in terms of length of contract and his relationship with the club and the fans but similarly and sensibly Chelsea won’t let him leave unless/until they have a suitable replacement.
But time will tell on it all.

19th July 2018 at 2:29 pm #24197Massive,massive mistake signing Higuain imho, a player who will be 31 in December and going for ca £60m!
999-You mean Asensio and £50m surely? Otherwise it would value Hazard @ close to £400m?

19th July 2018 at 6:15 pm #24198Mav, no Chelsea seemingly value Hazard at £200/250m and Asensio at £100m take one from the other and it would cost Real either £100m plus Asensio or £150m plus Asensio on that basis.
Very unlikely to happen that way imo for all sorts of reasons but given only 3 weeks left in the window if Real really want Hazard and Chelsea definitely don’t want to sell him and won’t even contemplate it without they can get a heavyweight replacement under those circumstances that’s probably the only way it could happen.
However I still think the most likely outcome is in my third para above. Cheers 999
