18th July 2018 at 4:24 pm #24144Β£200m plus. Remember they got big money for the little Brazilian.
Good luck if it comes off. We spent β¬40m on Ederson with lots of tutting in the press. If you need a player AND can afford it its the game. We dont NEED anything further. Mahrez is an additional luxury -a top player. Perhaps we will need an extra holding midfielder but we dont NEED one now.
Lets see what happens!_____________________________

Keita, fabhino and vvd out of couthino money
Doesnβt really matter. We are now spending big without having to sell a key player which is first for us

18th July 2018 at 5:19 pm #24147Anonymoussean – the numbers suggest otherwise – all taken from transfermarkt.co.uk
14/15 – spent 136m, brought in 90m
15/16 – spent 112m, brought in 81m
16/17 – spent 72m, brought in 76m
17/18 – spent 151m, brought in 157m
18/19 – spent 108m brought in 0m – this is excluding Allison for 65m.where this money has come from i have no idea and if i were a liverpool fan i wouldnt give it a shit. suppose i’m just jealous considering the money we’ve spent is the same as what liverpool have brought in so far and need to complain about something.

18th July 2018 at 5:46 pm #24148Fair comments Paxton
I think we have had the money for a while as we wanted keita and vvd for the start of last season. Looks like we had the money but couldnβt get the players
Itβs great that we can add to the spine of an already good team
We needed a proper central defender and we got one in vvd. His price is rarely mentioned
We needed a central midfielder and a e got two.
Our front 3 is very good. Now if we get a proper keeper then itβs the most solid soine we have had in years.
Klopp buys well but we will have to wait and see how the new guys fair and our runours targets fair.

18th July 2018 at 6:41 pm #24149Looks like good business by Klopp and Liverpool but does Klopp forget saying this after Pogba went to Utd:
“Other clubs can go out and spend more money and collect top players. I want to do it differently. I would even do it differently if I could spend that money.”
There are 4 categories of positions on the pitch and Liverpool will now have the world record in 2 of them!

A few times edAll managers are hypocrites. They have all said something in th past that comes back to bite them
Great that we can now spend like others have been spending for years without having to sell our best players
Pressure is on klopp this season. Only time will tell if we have spent wisely

18th July 2018 at 9:04 pm #24153Pax, those figures you’ve posted equate to a net spend of Β£175m excluding Allison over 5 years, a spend of Β£35m a year on average which is nothing outrageous, especially as we have made a profit the last 2 years. Even adding Allison on to that it puts the average up to ‘only’ Β£48m a year. Now with Fekir coming as well, and my sources tell me that that is definitely happening, then the average does go up to over Β£50m a year…and they’ve developed the ground. But we all know the TV money has gone up a huge amount and our run in the Champions League have brought in massive revenue over the last 24 months, so I guess FSG know what they are doing. It’s exciting times for Liverpool fans at the moment, and it is down to our manager. He attracts top class players, of that there can be no doubt.

18th July 2018 at 9:12 pm #24154As Paxton says who cares and good luck to Liverpool they are having a great transfer window.
I doubt Fenway will be spending more than the Club can afford and if they are and they don’t balance the books then they will have to justify it to UEFA.
It’s going to make the PL very interesting this season as given Liverpool’s strengthening it should be a two horse title race at least which can only be a good thing unless you’re a City fan of course but maybe even the City fans will relish the challenge?

18th July 2018 at 9:25 pm #24156Too right Sean and ours is the worst hypocrite of the lot! It’s starting to feel like it’s a good time to be a Liverpool fan. As you say, though, with heavy spending comes heavy pressure so it will be interesting to see how the manager and the players deal with that added pressure.

18th July 2018 at 9:36 pm #24161Hightown, have Chelsea even bid for Allison I’m not sure they have I think Liverpool probably had a free run at him .
“From what I’m hearing, even if #cfc came in with a late bid now, it’s too late. deal almost done with #lfc https://twitter.com/sjstandardsport/status/1019539752381448193 β¦
tweet from Simon Johnson Evening Standard who is close to all things Chelsea. The Goalkeeping situation at Chelsea remains confusing until Courtois confirms he is definitely going to Real. Although I think that will be the final outcome Sarri said today in his unveiling he wants him to stay and talk to him face to face?

18th July 2018 at 10:43 pm #24165No way is this a two way race. Utd will add to their squad so will all the other teams
Cheksea already have a very strong squad
I wouldnβt write any of the top 6 off.
Anything can happen as last year showed.
Pressure is on klopp. 4th isnβt good enough now. We need to challenge for the pl and win trophies but I can only see city running away with it again

19th July 2018 at 3:04 am #24170Anonymous“sean β completely agree with you. you cant go round spending in excess of 200m and settle for top 4.”.
Agreed, however we don’t NEED to win the league this season “or else”. Good, worthwhile projects take time. We finished a mile behind City last season, I think the realistic goal has to be to push them for the top but not to expect it. 2nd place and a trophy would do nicely. If the new signings settle in well and we really hit next gear then you never know but if we get carried away with expectations, we risk being disappointed when the extremely difficult doesn’t happen.
“adlab β the coutinho money is long gone. that went last season on VVD and oxlade-chamberlain. ”
No it’s not. We were interested in signing Van Dijk long before the Coutinho situation became clear. LFC tried their best to keep him after we’d paid for both players, so the Coutinho money is what we’re spending right now.
I think the question isn’t, can we afford Allison but can we also afford Fekir?
As for where the extra money is coming from, I’ve heard the CL run was worth Β£70m to us. Maybe it’s wrong, I’ve no idea but Β£44m sounds low. Even if it isn’t low, we’re much more marketable each season under Klopp (don’t forget that on top of that possible Β£44m, we’re assured of more CL football this coming season). He’s starting to deliver, not trophies (yet) but we’ve made 2 European finals in the last few seasons. That’s a big deal to FSG who know exactly how to fully exploit that. They see that Klopp REALLY IS THE GUY and they are investing whatever it takes to get us to that next level.
Klopp is paid huge money by FSG but him and his team have all paid for their wages alone, by increasing the value of the squad. They have worked with and taken in new signings. Most of these players have gone on to increase, or at least hold (Van Dijk) their values.
If ever there were a man to bring LFC back to winning titles, it’s Klopp. I do have a small concern about Buvac and how much we’re going to lose with him going. How much of what we love is his. I honestly hope it’s very little but his nickname and the length of time he’s worked with Klopp gives me a headache.
