I can honestly see Levy going for Micky and Lenglet on the cheap , he can’t help himself ….

6th July 2023 at 8:42 am #207600To be fair for Lenglet, I think getting a player of that experience for the supposed fee (might even be free!) isn’t a bad deal at all.. he’s arguably better than Dier, Sanchez and Tanganga… and would be a very decent 3rd choice behind Romero and “A.Nother”, and maybe A.Nothers brother making him 4th choice (and let’s face it, Romero isn’t going to play 38 games a season with suspensions and injuries)…
Can’t say I’m ‘that’ disappointted so far this transfer window… we’re obviously having a bit of a rebuild, and getting in some semi-decent young players… we’re not going to get top draw players, while having no Euro footy…
Top 7 is probably the best we can hope for, maybe a decent run in the cups if we get some favourable draws..
Just hoping we keep Harry… let him go on a free next year, he could practicaly pick any club he wants then!

7th July 2023 at 9:10 am #207601Joao Felix it would appear on his way out. I just think of avalanche and these players joining at a time of transition and everything else that needed addressing at Chelsea. They need really stability and to be able to settle down.
Hopefully Poch is the man to steady the ship and one of his jobs being to formulate a new 11 with a good playing system.

7th July 2023 at 9:10 am #207602Xhaka will be missed. That guy had his heart on his sleeve.

8th July 2023 at 5:59 pm #207605There is so much nonsense (as always) in the press etc about who is signing who.
I think yet again we will be going for a low net spend.
I hope we don’t sell Bernardo but if we have to we should be asking substantially above £70m given how much United had to pay for Mount. I think Bernardo is the better player….some may not agree.
On another tack what’s going to happen to Sterling? His first season wasn’t good. I’d have him back. Particularly if we sell Mahrez but I know it won’t happen._____________________________

9th July 2023 at 9:06 am #207606Just hope nobody bothers with the likes of Mbappa, not a bad player but bound to cause a lot of trouble and controversies and also unhappiness the dressing room. That gloating face says it all.

9th July 2023 at 12:44 pm #207607There isn’t justification for a 500k a week salary and a fee in excess of 170 million. We might as well call it a day. Let the Saudis have it in their world.
It’s fantasy not reality. A ‘B’ grade player that be invested in to become a Top Player is surely more rewarding.

11th July 2023 at 8:21 am #207608If players do go to Saudi so what. Saudi teams don’t play in any relevant competition.
In our terms, there have been many people going to work there over the years..nurses, engineers etc. Nobody levelled criticism there. If somebody said to you earning say £50k a year that you could do the same job for 2 years for £200k a year in good working conditions in Saudi would say no? Or are we just suffering jealousy and hypocrisy?_____________________________

11th July 2023 at 3:11 pm #207609Man City on course to break new record for academy transfer sales
Manchester City will bring in more than £25m from the sale of two academy talents and can expect to at least double that figure in the window
This is a clear strategy and one which shows a good return on the investment into the a academy. Sales of academy players will easily cover the cost of Kovacic.
Other sales we make will go significantly into the cost of other signings giving once again a relatively low net spend pushing us further down the chart of net spenders from 8th largest spender to maybe 9th or 10th
It shows how important, in ANY business, is proper timely investment.
So when people, jealous people, go on about our spending check out the last six years since Pep. Of course we pay big salaries too so it’s not all hunky dory.
The only other point I would make is that there should be a maximum amortisation period of 5 years and not the 8 Chelsea are using but that’s for debate._____________________________

11th July 2023 at 5:46 pm #207610Jesus adlab it’s really boring now this debate. We all know the real story and I certainly won’t be discussing it again

11th July 2023 at 5:49 pm #207611Chucky I’ve being away for a bit and stayed away from football but I see spurs have signed Maddison and a new gk. centre bsck coming in soon aswell
I’ve never seen the Hungarian lad we signed play so can’t judge him but seems to be highly rated. Good we have two midfielders bought quickly. Still then we need a real enforcer is a number 6 to challenge fabhino not sure if Lavia is that man but the owners are supporting the manager so far

11th July 2023 at 8:27 pm #207612Hey Waspy, pretty chuffed with Wee Jimmy signing, we’ve been crying out for a player of that ilk ever since Wee Erik departed… not too sure about this new winger (never watched him play for Fulham) but seems to be a Sonny-lite according to those who have so hopefully Sonny will realize he’s got some competition now and up his game.. new goalie who sounds like we might have a bargin… chuck in a couple of new CB’s (at least one!) and I’m starting to feel a little optimistic… obviously we won’t be challanging Abu Dhabi for the title but with the breaks taken off it could be fun at least…

13th July 2023 at 3:24 pm #207616Another one off to Saudi Arabia. I think ideally we would have kept him to keep a bit of cohesion in the dressing room. But this was ultimately going to be a transitional season ahead no matter what. If it gives a new guy more minutes of the pitch, that’s not a bad thing. Suspect we could see 2 more additions in midfield now, particularly if Fabinho leaves too. If Thiago were to leave as well, can’t think of a time where a team has a completely new midfield going into the new season. But this transition should have happened more gradually over the years rather than waiting this long and all at the same time.
🚨 BREAKING: Jordan Henderson has accepted Al Ettifaq proposal. There’s verbal agreement in principle. Contract agreed.
Deal now depends on Liverpool and Al Ettifaq discussing on the fee, no chance to let him leave for free 🇸🇦

13th July 2023 at 5:54 pm #207617Mikus, a mate of mine what’s app’d me this earlier. He also messaged about Fabinho and a possible 40 mil move. I get the impression strongly that these moves will happen. We have good recent history of being able to fetch money back buy selling players. The money already spent this summer will come at a price; that’s how FSG operate as we know.
We had players leaving which has a positive have come off our wage bill, but they were the ones with expired contracts. Cloth has to be cut accordingly from a business point of view.
Now translate this on to the pitch and I do actually see a long-term positive and a transition in progress. We may take a hit losing these guys; Henderson no question will be emotional, but Klopp has reached that point where he needs to significantly rebuild and repeat what he built circa 2016, 17, 18 to rechallenge Pep for the Title.

13th July 2023 at 9:21 pm #207618Far to much change for me lads. Whole new midfield and wouldn’t expect much next season
Also Henderson will look a right hypocrite if he moves to a country he has being so outspoken againest

14th July 2023 at 8:08 am #207620If memory serves me didn’t Henderson speak out publicly against Saudi Arabia and their human rights? Who wouldn’t do the same?
Only those who don’t get the big money complain!!

14th July 2023 at 8:52 am #207621He did adlab and he will look at absolute hypocrite if he moves there now.
Outstanding captain for us and absolute legend but he will tarnish his reputation if he goes. Money talks

14th July 2023 at 11:01 am #207622I honestly hope there’s movement on this, in fact all 3 can go. Not in a nuance of good riddance but we need to think of the bigger picture and in terms of what we can render financially and clear what we’re going to need to clear anyway. We are in rebuild. I just dont see the point holding out. These players too have seen their best days and have history of injuries. If the Saudis want to take these guys off our hands, then all the political stuff can be pushed to one side as far as I’m concerned because this could be really useful income and a catalyst too for our rebuild.
