Be careful what you wish for Chucky. The PSG owners have been sniffing around your lot, as you know. It’s sad this is happening to our clubs. State ownership, just like leveraged buyouts should be forbidden. I stand by that.

30th June 2023 at 10:13 am #207578At least we can 100% agree on that… killing the game!

30th June 2023 at 10:33 am #207579Yet these clubs generally appear to be better run clubs than others because they ruthlessly get the best people in to run the club as opposed to looking to former players. Hence why I suspect a lot of Utd fans want the Qatar bid to win.

30th June 2023 at 10:49 am #207580For all the cheating, bringing the game into disrepute and generally contributing to the death of the game more than any other team you have to hand it to City they do employ the very best available. And I’m not just talking about the lawyers! They are a very well run club.

30th June 2023 at 11:29 am #207581True enough… but it’s also a lot easier to be ruthless when you have no budget constraints… just hire and fire until you get it right.

30th June 2023 at 3:41 pm #207582City havent always got it right with player signings, but would agree they dont get it wrong too often.
A lot of this though is down to Pep and he’s been bold and brave in not afraid to let good players go.

30th June 2023 at 5:42 pm #207583“Hakim Ziyech’s proposed move to Saudi based Al Nassr is off after a knee problem was raised in his medical, according to reports.
Chelsea are working on a summer clear-out ahead of new manager Mauricio Pochettino’s first season in charge and stood to recoup £8m from the sale of Ziyech”
I’m pretty sure that wouldn’t matter over 8m if this was some conspiracy to benefit chelsea.
Guess the logical conclusion is the correct one and all the conjecture was just cynical conspiracy theory based on bugger all.

1st July 2023 at 10:24 am #207585The Chelsea players off to Saudi Arabia league are all basically for peanuts, players that didn’t do well in the EPL. The best and most expensive players will be sold to other EPL clubs or to Spain, Italy, Germany, France.

1st July 2023 at 6:25 pm #207586As we saw last season, a few of the top teams are shifting to a sort of 3223 shape when in possession with a box in midfield of 2 sitters with 2 number 10s ahead.
Looking at some of the purchases I think we will see more of it.
Mount and Bruno as double 10s at utd?
Szoboszlai and macallister at pool?
Havertz and odegard at Arsenal?

1st July 2023 at 8:16 pm #207587Lucky, being a supporter of football, I embrace this innovation of being able to create a formation. Why do people have to copy though? Why can’t some just stick to their guns (principles)?
My thinking behind this is adaptation and being able to create and establish alternative playing systems to the ‘deck of cards’ presented. Sure there’s a likelihood of injuries, so this is where you pull together bringing in the synergy to drive a different winning formula.
There can’t be too many complaints too mate if there is somebody out there regardless of who they are ready to take your players off your hands.
Sounds like more of a clean and tidy Chelsea 🙂 🙂

2nd July 2023 at 7:51 am #207588I often wonder if players stick to tactics or even understand it, I feel most players just pretend to acknowledge coaches tactics and go onto the field and do their thing. They probably do try to stick to their alloted formation and that’s as far as they go.

2nd July 2023 at 9:08 am #207589Hence that’s why managers are often screaming on the touchline to try to keep their players disciplined and one’s like Pep are even still badgering their players after they’ve won the game. I actually think this is why Mount was in demand because imo these players are actually very tactically disciplined and do follow the instructions of the manager to a ‘t’ and even if you only have a few of those players in the whole team, I think their example rubs off on others.

2nd July 2023 at 1:03 pm #207591Well let’s just say, I rather follow instructions and do what’s asked of me than be shouted out by my boss. Pep’s secret ingredient is that he shows who’s the boss. He couldn’t care less if it’s in front of thousands. Remember his bust up with Aguero.

4th July 2023 at 3:06 pm #207593Starting to question the players Levy is bringing in apart from Maddison.
Top target was David Raya, we end up with a 16m Italian stopper who I’ve never heard of .
Then we go after Edmond Tapsoba our supposed top LCB target, but apparently he is too pricey, so now we are after Micky van de Ven who is half the price, it seems Daniel hasn’t learnt the lessons of the previous 22 years._____________________________

4th July 2023 at 5:37 pm #207594Van der ven is a good player mate. Tall, quick for his size and left footed. I think he is a decent target although all I know is from footie manager 🤣
