Mount would work well as a supplement to Bruno Fernandes, because of Bruno being involved deep to support defense and initiate build up play. Mount would work well behind a Striker which is what I believe United to focus on.

25th June 2023 at 1:18 pm #207508Sean, there’s nothing madder than the £65m Arsenal have paid for Havertz. That truly is a ‘head scratcher’. Limited talent, not a natural goal scorer and, imo, worth about £30m, tops.

25th June 2023 at 5:54 pm #207514Havertz is one of those who is deemed to be good by those experts but I don’t see it. He’s certainly not a striker. Is he a number 10, so called? Don’t think so.

29th June 2023 at 7:26 am #207539So we’ve got Wee Jimmy… have to say I’m quite happy about that, exactly the sort of player we’ve been missing since Wee Erik… looks like it won’t be enough to keep Harry (unless Levy “blocks” all calls!)…
Not sure about the goalie… seems a bit cheap but then again, he’s not English or has played in the Prem before… seen some comments from people who know more about Pizza Ball than I do and they seem to think we’ve got a bit of a bargin there…
Left sided CB up next with a bit of luck…

29th June 2023 at 9:52 am #207540Gabriel’s absence was a great miss so maybe a new center half or an additional center half would make the Gunners an even more of a stronger proposition next season and could challenge for the league title again.

29th June 2023 at 10:14 am #207541No, Rice is obviously a good all round player but never worth that amount of money, yes he can make a difference for a team but not really a huge difference.

29th June 2023 at 4:21 pm #207543That’s bound to happen and never of any surprise in the present climate. Leicester will do the same with James Madison.

29th June 2023 at 6:18 pm #207544That should be FFP sorted then, thanks to utd and arsenal chiefly.
Not happy about selling mount to utd on the whole but given he wanted out this is a good deal for all.
Best thing from Chelsea POV is all these big sales have come before July 1st and so will allow us to cover this year’s expenditure and give us scope to persue a few more additions as soon as new season technically commences on 1st of July when poch finally starts.

29th June 2023 at 7:41 pm #207545You can thank the Saudis too Lucky. Very convenient considering how involved the Saudis are with Clearlake 🤔👀.
Not convinced by Mount at all but have to trust Ten Hag knows what he’s doing.

29th June 2023 at 8:55 pm #207547Yeh I’m not sure there’s been any groundbreaking transfers yet in the league, i.e. transfers that will have a significant impact on the team taking them up a notch or two. You obviously tend to pay a premium for internal premier-league transfers because they already have experience of the league so should hit the ground running. Long way to go in the window yet.

29th June 2023 at 10:37 pm #207548No Ed 150m has come from prem clubs, are they in on the conspiracy to benefit chelsea too?
Saudi are getting them in left right and centre in any case, it is fortunate for us.

29th June 2023 at 10:59 pm #207549P.s Ed, just checked, it’s 3 sales to Saudi clubs, all for market value, ziyech, mendy and koulibaly. All fit the profiles of other players genuinely touted by Saudi clubs independent of the needs of chelsea fc.
I am sorry we didn’t struggle to offload players and breach FFP as many would have hoped, but again we have utd at 60m and arsenal 65m chiefly to credit for that. So thank you.

30th June 2023 at 6:16 am #207551Lucky, there’s absolutely zero chance of any club getting any meaningful punishment through FFP so I’m not sure why you thought anyone was hoping or expecting Chelsea to get that. These clubs are far too smart to get caught out and know all the loopholes. As you say, the Utd and Arsenal money is by far the biggest help but you can’t tell me you haven’t questioned the convenience of the sudden Saudi influx of money considering their involvement in Clearlake? Chelsea are as good as state owned by the looks of things, just as we’re unfortunately likely to be soon too.

30th June 2023 at 6:44 am #207553Must of these new owners are top business guys and whether some of them come across as shady they obviously intelligent people business wise more than all of us anyway and appear to know what they doing as far as finances are concerned. The reality is the big clubs don’t need protection from financial rules, it’s just all about fixed control from authority so those top 6, 7 or 8 clubs stop their domination, basically we becoming or already are in a socialist environment. And it grows on from that point in time.

30th June 2023 at 7:39 am #207555Starting to suffer from NSOS… (New Season Optimism Syndrome)… happy with Wee Jimmy, hoping we’ve got a bargin with the new Goalie, got a manager who’s threantening to “unleash” the team (and we’ve certainly got the attacking talent to cause problems for anybody!)… and mildly confident that Harry will be seeing out his contract… add that lot up with what sounds like at least one new CB to partner Romero (and it would be hard to find one worse than the options we currently have!) and I’m fully expecting us to finish higher up the table than last year…
How high? I have no idea but hopefully we’ll need to get the passports out for the season after!!
And good luck to Winksy, could be a good move for him, fancy them to come straight back up even if a few of their first teamers are leaving, and possibly a goodbye to Hodge-Podge… I’d quite happily take 30ish million for him to put in the pot…
