It will really test Klopp and FSG’s relationship if that bid starts going up much further. FSG will, somewhat understandably, see certain offers being too good to turn down for a 31yr old who will never fetch anywhere near this kind of money again.

1st September 2023 at 2:22 pm #209059Unbelievable that they would want until last day off window!!!
Hope Salah doesn’t force it because pool can still get big money next summer

1st September 2023 at 2:52 pm #209060Won’t he only have a year left next summer though? I’m not sure they’d get that kind of money again after this summer

1st September 2023 at 3:01 pm #209061I think they might Ed. These guys don’t care how much anyone costs by the looks of it. If we could get 100m next summer then he goes once we have a clear plan to replace him
We can’t sell now as no replacement. Mikuis, two quality passes for goals already tvis season. Absolutely world class player
Ed, if they offered 200m they won’t turn that down

1st September 2023 at 3:38 pm #209063If Chelsea can get 60mil for Mount with only a year left, then we should hold out for close to a billion for Salah.

1st September 2023 at 4:18 pm #209064Ed What do you think of United’s transfer strategy.
Avoiding bias I get the feeling that much seems to have depended on a previous relationship with Ten Hag. Nothing wrong with that in principle but somewhat limiting. Net spend is pretty big but the loan deals suggest financial pressure

1st September 2023 at 4:24 pm #209065A billion, Harry? 😂 for what will be a 32yr old Salah next summer?
Adlab, yeah a bit all over the place. Not sure about Hojlund yet. Mount I was never sure about but I hold some hope there simply because all the big clubs in the league wanted him so maybe it’s something I’m missing. Otherwise, seems a bit of a scattergun approach again. Filling gaps really now because of holes in the squad rather than really improving the team.

1st September 2023 at 4:28 pm #209066I wonder what Salah and his family think .
Riches beyond dreams and playing in a Muslim country. He would be a football god there.
He could get injured in the next game here and limit his career. How could he turn it down?
What a difficult decision 😪_____________________________

1st September 2023 at 4:35 pm #209067Agree entirely with your thoughts Ed.
Not saying we are the greatest.
Strategy: lose Gundogan sign Kovacic
Lose Mahrez sign Doku
Lose Laporte sign Gvardiol
KDB OUT for months sign Nunez
Sell Palmer for £42m
It may not work out and the incoming may not be as good but you can see the strategy. Older plus 30 age players replaced and refresh the squad.
If KDB returns fit it will be like signing a £100m player._____________________________

1st September 2023 at 4:43 pm #209068200 million apparently. I guess it’s now a matter of time. Lol must be like quick-sand, but then again, these Prem teams target will deliberately hold out and play ransom.
When will the oil run out?!
Messing about to one side, what is Al-Hilal and Al-Ettifaq all about? Makes me proud to surrounded in an existence where we still occupy and entertain 3 leagues outside the Prem. It just seems more of a holiday camp than a place of history and heritage.

1st September 2023 at 5:04 pm #209070There’s players that are established Adlab and formulated into a team that delivers results and success. That’s the key.
Other teams need to be hitting that grade. I’m seeing it a little bit with Man United in Martinez, Casemiro and Fernandes.
I just think there are teams buying players that may well be needed but the manager needs the knowhow in how to use them.

1st September 2023 at 5:09 pm #209071Lol ed, I was being facetious, but the point stands. 60mil for Mount was daylight robbery and man utd are skint. The Saudis are rolling in dough, so we should take them for all their worth.

1st September 2023 at 5:43 pm #209072I wish I could disagree about Mount Harry but I’ve never particularly rated him. Not sure what that has to do with Salah though.

1st September 2023 at 8:43 pm #209075One of them has transferred and the other potentially in the same window. Comparison of market value is all I’m doing. Other than that there is no link.

1st September 2023 at 9:43 pm #209076City have the best set up not just because of Pep but because I think they ultimately just use players and aren’t really in hock to them. They offload them if a good offer comes in and immediately replace them. The players are disposable because the club is bigger. They have no fear even if a big name leaves. They have no attachment to them from a business point of view. That’s the way it should be. Most of the other teams I think are to some extent more in hock to their players, and so I think they arguably become more comfortable and powerful.
Yes City have had the money to build it, but even so, the general strategy of ensuring the club is bigger and keeping the players as disposable products is rarely followed at other clubs. Its not rocket science what City have done, so why do so few others seem to follow their blueprint? I think its more than just money, I think having the faith in this plan and assertiveness to execute it, is a rare quality. I think others get worried about investing (i.e. lack the faith) or they maybe panic or they perhaps pursue other flawed plans that may make them feel better but they just won’t bear the same fruits.
