1st August 2023 at 5:40 pm #207783Adlab, dont know anything about the lad myself, unlike Haaland who everyone knew before he came to prem.
Just watching this now to get an idea of what sort of striker he is

1st August 2023 at 5:55 pm #207784He’s very raw. The media comparisons (with Haaland) are inevitable because of where he’s from and the similarly sounding names. If he’s half the goalscorer Haaland is, I’ll be delighted π. Haaland is a once in a generation talent. Comparing Hojlund to him won’t do him any good.

1st August 2023 at 7:13 pm #207785I was getting all excited when I heard we had just signed Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael, thinking that would be enough to make Sir Harry stay for sure… how wrong could I be!

1st August 2023 at 9:55 pm #207786Yes it’s very sad not seeing Nine’s posts, you immediately wonder where he is before suddenly remembering.

2nd August 2023 at 8:20 am #207787Although I find it very difficult to visualise I really hope there’s an afterlife where we can all communicate with one another again, probably would be a mind thought process.

2nd August 2023 at 8:39 am #207788Ed, I think the comparisons are he is left footed aswell. Chap needs plenty of time to bed. Havenβt seen much of him but seems to highly rated
Lucky, why are Chelsea buying all these young players mate? I just find it sll a bit bizarre at Chelsea still after all the signings over the last year
How much have they recouped in sakes tgis season? Looks a bit messy from the outside but you would know a lot more then me

2nd August 2023 at 8:50 am #207789Had a look at the Chelsea preseason line ups and it seems like Enzo plus a kid in the 2 of a 4231? Not that kids cannot be great players, they are probably similar age to Lavia who we are after, just I never heard of them.

2nd August 2023 at 9:59 am #207790Yeah lads, they are my club but that doesn’t mean I have any more of an idea of what’s going on than any of you right now π€£
Imo we need a top goal keeper, defensive mid and striker. I am concerned we are going into another season with kepa in goal and with the lack of experience in midfield.
I would like a striker but until we offload lukaku for good we can’t finance it. Nico Jackson is looking very good though and along with nkunku I think we have some good additions to front line.
The only thing that keeps me chilled about it is the firm belief that we can only do better next season than we did last π plus the optimism that without european football and plenty of time for coaching we can be one of the most tactically astute sides if not the one of the most experienced.
Can only wait and see.

2nd August 2023 at 10:00 am #207791No thread for this but really enjoying women’s World Cup
Even fancy one of the linesman.. I mean assistant referee!
One downside is the time VAR is taking. But big amounts of time being added often 10 minutes plus. Shades of things to come in the EPL next season._____________________________

2nd August 2023 at 10:02 am #207792Going into this season so many teams have so many variables it’s going to be a nightmare to predict anything… (not that I was any good at it anway!)… I can see having a relatively settled team being a huge advantage, so other than thinking last years top 4 being the same, everything else is up for grabs… and expecting Villa to be the dark horses!!

2nd August 2023 at 10:03 am #207793Lucky…You’ve already signed about ten players on 20 year contracts!!!!!
In all seriousness I think your squad is too big.
But I do agree you need a better keeper._____________________________

2nd August 2023 at 10:08 am #207795You’re after Robert Sanchez by the sounds of it Lucky. Him and Caicedo won’t be cheap from Brighton. Raya to Arsenal and Sanchez to Chelsea. Sanchez should be decent enough for you. Lots of goalkeeper changes this summer.

2nd August 2023 at 10:09 am #207796Case in point watching Italy v RSA. Already in the 14th minute of added time due to injury. It started with 11 minutes added.
This is what the new rules are about I think.
Finally finished with + 16mins._____________________________

2nd August 2023 at 10:34 am #207797Ye thatβs it lucky. Nkunku is very good. I think Chelsea will get Caciedo but will have to hit close to 100 m
I donβt get raya to Arsenal? Is he going there as backup? People raving about Ramsdale last season. I donβt Ramsdale to be honest. Made loads of mistakes last season but surely there no ditching him for raya? Is raya Spainβs 1st choice
If the season started tomorrow, city, Liverpool look well short after many players go.

2nd August 2023 at 11:06 am #207798But the season doesn’t start tomorrow.
We’ve replaced Gundogan with Kovacic. But we have lost Mahrez and not replaced.
The upside at this moment is our academy players coming through including MacAtee, Rico and Palmer are well good enough for the bench or Carabao Cup games. Also Walker is still there at the moment and I don’t think Bernardo is going anywhere.
Ederson, Stones, Dias, Akanje (Laporte Cancelo Gomez) Ake
KDB Rodri Kovacic (Foden Phillips Lewis)
Bernardo Haaland Grealish (Alvarez)Net spend at the moment approx plus Β£30m
I suspect one or two more incoming too

2nd August 2023 at 11:27 am #207800Yeah we linked with Brighton keeper Ed, can’t say I am happy to outsource our scouting to Brighton π apparently we have agreed terms with a French club for the player Brighton had lined up to replace caicedo!
