Tugay, all about opinions mate but totally disagree. Barnes is as average as they come and I predict he will flop at the toon

24th July 2023 at 2:12 pm #207675Not transfer related as such, but just seen Nunez’s 2 finish from our pre-season game today; he looks like he is fined tuned. Salah provided him on both occasions, so this could be what we see in the prem next season; a new partnership formulated.
It’s just that defensive midfield and right-back that needs sorting if Trent is moving to mid.

24th July 2023 at 5:01 pm #207680The world of football has gone completely mad
Β£259m for Mbappe. If this goes ahead the game as we know it will be in turmoil.
And he’s not worth that either. But money talks as always.Again RIP on of our best.

24th July 2023 at 5:05 pm #207682Don’t FFP rules apply to oil rich nations or what’s the story?

24th July 2023 at 5:19 pm #207683Rover, rules don’t apply to those countries, full stop… in case you hadn’t noticed, they pretty much do whatever they want and then throw money at the problem until it goes away…

24th July 2023 at 5:23 pm #207684Even I think there needs to be a major rethink on football finances not just stupid unworkable FFP.
FFP should be parked for a year or two and a better set of rules introduced._____________________________

24th July 2023 at 5:49 pm #207685Struggling to get head around the mbappe offer.
It’s 300m euro offer to PSG and rumours that he will be offered 700m ONE YEAR deal and be allowed to join Real next summer.
Potentially one billion in total investment for one season.
Also confusing is why the first offer to PSG would be so high considering they want to sell.
And even more baffling is why spurs are still being linked with him despite all this π€£

24th July 2023 at 7:08 pm #207687Adlab, there’s just no ceiling. It’s the usual certain clubs breaking boundaries beyond. Insane.

24th July 2023 at 7:20 pm #207688Stolen from another forum but made me chuckle regarding the Mbappe bid
“heard talk of Β£700m a year for the player himself…….footballt has not just eaten itself, but shat itself out too”
Its another nail in the coffin for me. I’m actually starting to feel ashamed that I part of this greed machine otherwise known as football.

24th July 2023 at 8:28 pm #207690Yeah ally, I don’t think the media even have grip of the scale of this now mate.
As it stands mbappe is guaranteed 100m this season if he stays at PSG. He is in complete control.

25th July 2023 at 12:44 pm #207691Who is actually televising these games in Saudi Arabia? (Not that I’m greatly interested in watching them). Presumably they’ll be broadcast around domestic league games so as not to clash with them? Just looks like another New York Cosmos story when Pele joined them in the 70s. But will the greater availability of worldwide broadcasting/streaming make it more sustainable in the long term?

25th July 2023 at 1:30 pm #207692Was looking into Premier Sports which I believe provides everything from cl to pl and can be accessed via prime.
Global audiences no doubt that will be accessible on a number of channels/broadcasting networks. I wouldn’t wanna watch them though.

25th July 2023 at 1:55 pm #207693Very likely to be sold to a streaming service such as amazon prime as nil mentions.
Millions already have prime and to us its effectively free in that case. I can imagine it having a fair amount of viewers worldwide considering the talent it is amassing.
Regards how this will affect the sustainability of the league as mikus mentions, well unless there are restrictions imposed on how much the clubs can spend relative to genuine income then its not about sustainability in the way we think about it. I don’t think we understand how much money they have to waste. I mean PSG put a player with 1 year remaining on contract up for sale and Saudi make opening offer of 300m π€£ They not concerned by sustainability.

25th July 2023 at 4:04 pm #207697Yeh Lucky, I was thinking more sustainable from a viewing figures point of view. I think the early league in the US with the New York Cosmos in the 70s broke down because the TV revenues declined. But with the Saudi league, they obviously donβt need to worry about TV money. But if they donβt get the viewing figures, or if they start off ok and decline, will it last?
