Ed, spot on and like you I would be suprised if Villa will let Grealish go for much less than £100m.
Brian, I’m not sure how many of City’s players would accept a move to Villa as a makeweight in a Grealish deal but let’s say one of them actually did and was valued at £50m and City pay the balance of the Grealish fee in cash they would still be paying £100m for Grealish.
Tbh I don’t have a problem with City spending what they want to on who they want to other than it will almost certainly turn the PL into another one horse race which I don’t think is great for the PL? I know you claim City are beatable and they are but not over 38 games they are not which is why they’ve won 3 out of the last 4 PL titles and they will be significantly stronger this season if they add both Kane and Grealish to their already very very strong squad.

I can’t see villa letting grealish going for under 100m and spurs 150m for Kane. Just no way can I see city paying that. Not even sure they will sign one
Also Sancho will be an excellent signing for utd. If I was utd I’d be looking at nidi . I think Declan rice is decent but he hasn’t a patch on any of the sitting players like Kante, fabhino, Rodri, ferdhino etc
Nidi over rice all day for me. Rice be ridiculous money like Ben white whose price is hugely inflated and villa paying 35m for a winger from Norwich.mad money and clubs have money to spend
So really Covid hasn’t affected many prices for players. They are still absolutely ridiculously high.

can’t believe people on here think Grealish is a 100m player. He’s hardley torn it up against very good sides so far. Some might point to the Liverpool thrashing, but they were shocking that day. He has high potential, but the acolades he is getting are far from proven imo

Players are only worth what the selling Club are prepared to sell them for and what the buying Club are prepared to pay based on their perceived needs. Hence why Harry Maguire went for £80m.😊

Have to agree with nine, it’s easy to say Grealish isn’t worth £100M but if Villa don’t want to sell him other than for a high fee and City don’t see anyone else available who can improve their squad then it’s gonna be a big fee. I only hope if Bernardo Silva or Sterling are on there way out (rumours at this stage) then City demand similar fees as both are as good as Grealish if not better. I’d also take issue with those complaining about the money City spend; for clarity City don’t want to spend these figures but there is clearly a fee for City and a fee for other clubs. City didn’t create this market, it was this way when we got here.

I agree with the whole supply and demand notion of the economics, but I’m not sure there is the demand for him at that sort of price. I mean, City don’t really need him, they have a wealth of talent in those positions and as has already been said, he’s unlikley to be a guaranteed starter, therefore 100m is mental, even for City. If that is what Villa are genuinely valuing him at then I can’t see there being any real suitors. In which case, if Grealish does really want to leave to improve his career then he will be forced to see out his contract, which I also cannot see happening.

Grealish is one of the most exciting players in the league. I love watching him play
What do you mean by proven foxy?
Look how much villa missed him when he was out. He tore Liverpool part, scored an absolute screamer at old tarford, destroyed aresnal at the emeriates, those are 3 games off the top of my head. He scored the goal that kept villa up last season.
He’s had two seasons in the pl. he’s an excellent player playing in an average team and is very consistent

I think he’s worth £100mil+ to Villa but not to City, if that makes sense. Villa can only buy a certain type of player because of the wages they can offer so the player is more important than the money to them unless it is just a ridiculous fee.
Mike, I’d be astonished if City got 100mil each for Sterling and Silva, good players though they are.

I do find that notion of a player being “forced to see out his contract” a funny one. A contract he was happy to sign less than a year ago, nonetheless.
