2nd June 2021 at 4:33 pm #179989Ed, not suprised.
Manchester City have given the clearent hint yet that they will battle for Harry Kaneโs signature, with chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak saying his club intend to send a message in this summer’s transfer window and will find the โright playerโ to replace Sergio Aguero.
Man City cantered to the Premier League title this season and also lifted the Carabao Cup, but came up short in the Champions League Final as Chelsea won 1-0 in Porto.
Despite that disappointment in Portugal, City look set to spend big on reshaping Pep Guardiola’s squad and have a large hole to fill following record goalscorer Aguero’s move to Barcelona.
Tottenham striker Kane has been heavily linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium, and even named Kevin De Bruyne as his ideal team-mate, while Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland has also been touted as a possible target.
City are likely to face stiff competition from both Chelsea and Manchester United for Kaneโs signature, while Real Madrid could also be interested if the price was right.
However, Cityโs rivals have been put on notice that Al Mubarak believes it is important to improve their squad this summer – particularly given Agueroโs exit.
“You need to constantly bring talent into the team, refresh and particularly when you are at a high level on the top,” he said, speaking in an interview with the club’s website.
“Having won the League it is not the team to sit back and be content, that is the biggest mistake. This is the time to send a strong message that there is no contentment, you are not satisfied with just winning the league.
“We lose a very important legend in Sergio Aguero, very hard shoes to fill but I am confident we will find the right player to fill those shoes.
“There are other areas in the team that need investment, not too many, it is not about numbers, it is about quality.
“The squad is a phenomenal squad, you don’t win the Premier League and get to the Champions League final if you don’t have a good squad. We will bring quality into the squad in a couple of key positions.”
Kane is detemined to leave Spurs this summer, although England manager Gareth Southgate has suggested that transfers for any of his players involved at the Euros will be โvery unlikelyโ until after the tournament.” Standard 2/06

2nd June 2021 at 7:07 pm #180001Nine..more wise words from our Chairman. You should listen to his end of season review which he does every year. He is clearly an astute person, no histrionics, no blame but a determination to do better. Nobody is bigger than the club and if you do not like it the exit door is left open. Available funding or not he always supports the Manager, players and staff

4th June 2021 at 8:21 am #180031Werner missed a few Foxy but still contributed to Chelsea winning the CL and his pace worried teams and often won Chelsea important penalties.

4th June 2021 at 4:51 pm #180037There was once a time at the end of the season when, unless you were really into cricket and tennis, say, when you couldnโt wait for the start of the new season. I now think weโve had – and have – too much football/hype (at the โtopโ level) and I doubt if Iโll take much interest in the Euros. The start of a new league is soon enough for more football. Must be an age thing and I suspect Iโm in an extremely small minority. Then again perhaps itโs because the grandchildren have been here all week and Iโm feeling worn out!

4th June 2021 at 6:25 pm #180038Surrey Blue….I am much the same as you. The Euro’s do not interest me at all, I do like my cricket but the demise of Test standard 5 day matches has diminished that as well. Golf…OK I can watch that, somebody always makes mistakes and a winner always appears out of nowhere…that is the nature of golf to day. F1…Predictable and almost boring . I spent 2 yrs on F1 circuits, in the late 60s….they actually raced then….”nuff said”

6th June 2021 at 11:11 am #180137I was just kidding. I actually really like Werner and agree he provides so much more to your team. I do genuinely believe that once he gets on a run he will be unstoppable.

6th June 2021 at 2:46 pm #180148Certainly looks like Barcaโs financial woes are showing now after PSG hijacked Wijnaldum after offering double the wages.
Georginio Wijnaldum has decided to join Paris Saint-Germain. Barcelona have NO intention to raise their bid after they agreement ready by 2 weeks and medicals planned. ๐จ๐ณ๐ฑ
Gini is now set to accept PSG proposal until 2024 with salary more than doubled [compared to Barรงa bid]. https://t.co/ImrYvlaMWg

7th June 2021 at 8:16 am #180172AnonymousIf Levy allows Kane to leave it will definitely be to City. If you read between the lines it’s virtually confirmed.

7th June 2021 at 12:19 pm #180177Werner needs to learn very quickly. I think he might have been born offside. No excuse for it either, he is so quick he can afford to hold his run better as he has the pace to beat most defenders. 6 Premier league goals for a lad who cost that kind of money is pathetic.

7th June 2021 at 2:26 pm #180178Moos, I would rephrase that as follows “Levy will reluctantly let Kane leave Spurs providing the buying Club meet his price and it’s not to Chelsea.” ๐

7th June 2021 at 2:30 pm #180179What about Grealish to City? Skybet have it odds on! Of course that may change.
The only other major odds on is Sancho to Utd. Is he that good? I dont know as I dont watch German football. What I have seen him playing for England…mixed views. ยฃ80m seems an awful lot but maybe he is it?_____________________________
