Sergio Ramos could be a decent option for a year, much like Thiago Silva & Cavani have been (albeit both were extended) but I’m not sure City need him do they? They are so strong at CB. PSG would be my bet. Utd may turn to him as a last resort if they can’t get Varane/Torres/Kounde or the like.

It’s a lot of money Sean and, like any transfer, is a risk. But considering he was quoted at more than £100mil last season and his numbers justified such a fee IMO. He’s only behind Messi for goal contributions over the last few seasons and is only 21. The risk is reasonably small as we’d not struggle to get back a large chunk of that fee if he doesn’t quite cut it.
I’ve not been this excited about a transfer since Pogba came in (the less said about that the better 😂). Even ignoring the money side of things, I genuinely can’t think of a winger I’d have rather we bought than Sancho. Utd have chased him ever since he was leaving City. We tried to get him then but waited and waited until he was available for a reasonable fee.
Not suggesting it’s a bargain by any means. We can only judge that over the coming years, but I think it’s a very reasonable fee based on his potential and current ability.

Fair to say though that I’ve been wrong in the past when getting excited about buying players from Dortmund. There’s a real mixed bag of imports from Dortmund in the PL. Mkhitaryan and Kagawa flopped massively. I had high hopes for both. Nuri Sahin was not great (albeit via Madrid). Gundogan and Pulisic have been good, though.

CavaniThat’s a tasty starting 11, world class anchorman to replace mctominay and top centre back to replace lindelof and it would be phenomenal. Maybe tripper in for bissaka as he is far better in support of attack.
Maybe ole now has a good enough team that the transition excuse is now expired and they should challenge? Jose or conte would be expected to seriously challenge with the players ole has I reckon.

Lucky, I’m not doing the Conte/Jose/Ole debate again 😂. I’m delighted Jose has gone and Conte isn’t at Utd.
Completely agree though about Ole. He gets a CB and a midfielder then he absolutely has to put up a strong challenge or he’ll be gone and rightly so. This would be his 3rd full season so he has to start winning things now or at least coming very close in the big tournaments.

The problem with the side you listed Lucky is that Cavani is old and definitely in his last season. It remains to be seen whether Greenwood can become a number 9, for all his talent. Also, Pogba has 1 year left and could well be gone which leaves a very average centre midfield, which is where games are won and lost against the top teams.
You look at that Utd side though and, aside from Shaw (who walks into City’s side), would any more get in City’s side? Possibly Sancho. Possibly Bruno. So it’s still some way off being good enough to topple City. That’s ignoring the fact we’re also up against the European champions, though. 2nd and close the gap further and win a cup should be the minimum requirement though.
