I am sure Sheffield United would be delighted with 5th or 6th let alone 4th (which hadn’t even crossed my mind to be honest)and their current form warrants some success. Their advantage with sneaking in there for 5th or 6th is that they have no other real distractions whereas the others do with European two legged ties coming up. Not convinced either that the contenders for spots will go on any real winning runs (us included) so, as far as Sheffield United go, well fairy tales can happen.

10th February 2020 at 7:55 am #6836767, hopefully the race for 4th place will go right down to the wire and together with the fight against relegation keep a good level of interest in the PL. Sheffield United are definitely doing their bit.
Oh and I hope we make it.?
Might be down to getting Ruben back sooner rather than later and how quickly he can hit the ground running.? Cheers 9’s

10th February 2020 at 9:19 am #68368Nine, this is a transition season bigtime for Chelsea but 4th is there to lose now mate and you would be disappointed if they miss out now
Huge game next Monday. Chelsea need to beat utd to really help them push on

10th February 2020 at 9:54 am #68371Sean, I would be a tad disappointed because of where we are now but I didn’t expect to be where we are now and I had no great expectations for this season given all the of the circumstances.
I think we’re in with a shout but I would have been more confident had we somehow added to the strike force in Jan. Loftus Cheek returning if he gets up and running reasonably quickly which is a big ask considering how long he’s been out could be massive for us.

10th February 2020 at 10:09 am #68374Reckon if Chelsea win their next two (against YooUtd & Spuds) then they’ll be home and dry… but that’s easier said than done! Still fancy us Spuds to nab it, as we possibly have the easier of all the run-ins, but who bloody knows! Although it would be highly amusing if Sheffield squeeze in, don’t think many people would be overly annoyed about that.

10th February 2020 at 10:16 am #68375Big “if” Chucky but Chelsea would certainly be a bit closer to achieving 4th place were that to happen.
I still don’t think Sheffield United can be ruled out and certainly not Wolves it’s going to be very tight imo whoever makes it.

10th February 2020 at 12:10 pm #68378AnonymousI dont ever want to celebrate 4th place as an achievement. Papers over the obvious cracks in a squad. Whoever gets 4th spot if its not us will have deserved it, much like last season when all the teams around us were worse… CFC deserved to finish there. I’d be over the moon if Sheffield united got it over us as over the course of a season, the league ladder doesnt lie. Plus, I wrote this season off before it began so where we are now is an absolute achievement to enjoy, or curse should we falter.

10th February 2020 at 3:20 pm #68392AnonymousI would celebrate 4th if we were struggling to get it and managed it. It’s as good as a league cup win in my mind. CL football for the season after? Ya thats definitely worth celebrating.

10th February 2020 at 4:44 pm #68393I suspect 99.999 % of all Chelsea fans are hoping for 4th place there’s the prestige of playing in the CL,the fact that it opens the door to certain players in the transfer market and it generates increased revenues too.
But we didn’t make it in 2016/17 and we won the PL title and we didn’t make it in 2017/18 and we won the Europa League so sometimes clouds have silver linings and we’ve been ever presents pretty much since 2003/04 and have enjoyed a number of exciting challenges in the competition.
But you have to play the hand you’re dealt and I don’t think many Chelsea fans expected us to be challenging for 4th place this season.
If we don’t make the CL this season whilst it might have an impact on one or two of the players we might want to sign there will still be others available to us who will improve the team/squad and it might well help us to have a stronger PL campaign in 2020/21.
Fingers crossed though.??

You’re always saying that π
Mikus, I don’t plan to stop saying it man. This is our year, next year is our year too! Jk.
Nine, if ye can get CL football then along with your very very healthy finances, you’ll be in a great position to make a real splash in the market this summer.

15th February 2020 at 8:39 am #69926Poor game last night.
I think wolves are doing great but they can be a boring side to watch at times
Hopefully the Liverpool game is on abd we are not rusty. Both teams looked very rusty last night
