27th September 2022 at 8:32 am #199232“Levy is said to have informed Conte that he has until January to make a decision on his contractual situation. Whether that be signing a completely new deal, or extending his current contract for another year β remains to be seen.
While many Spurs fans will be desperate for Conte to stay, and might be slightly worried by Levyβs tactics β a decision does need to be made. Spurs cannot approach the summer and begin planning if Conte does not want to stay.”
Seems sensible.
Personally I think Conte will be at Spurs next season why would he want to throw away all the good work he’s done.

27th September 2022 at 8:41 am #199234Okay…
On the other hand Ali Gold (who is generally spot on with all things Spuds, he seemingly has some very good contacts) suggests otherwise… Spuds have the option of extending it until 2024 anyway (Conte doesn’t get much of a “say” in that anyway, it’s a Spuds only option apparently) but, in order to play “nice”, they’ve informed Conte’s team they’re quite happy to sit down on work out something a bit longer than that, to which Conte’s team is quote happy to do, it’s just finding the time to do so… it’s all good and everybody’s happy, and all this old Lady nonsense is just lasy journo’s putting 2 +2 together for a cheap clickbait headline… there hasn’t been any contact with Conte…
But, as I’m sure we can both agree, the proof is in the pudding and I’ll actually believe it when I see him “holding up the shirt”… (and the same applies with Super Harry, everybody is happy to sit down and sort things out, fully expect that to be cleared up sooner than later).
Again, believe it when I see him holding up the shirt! π

27th September 2022 at 8:54 am #199235As I said Chucky “Personally I think Conte will be at Spurs next season why would he want to throw away all the good work heβs done.”
By the way after you taking to another site to accuse me of blocking you on here which was of course nonsense and after me contacting the Ed on your behalf to get you restored on here the least I think you could do is apologise.

27th September 2022 at 9:11 am #199236Would’ve thought all the smiley faces would have suggested I wasn’t being too serious about it, but I’ll apologize anyway… so, sorry…

2nd January 2023 at 5:50 am #202178You’ll probably catch us up again anyway Chucky π. Few tough games for us coming up. You reckon he’s got long left Conte? I said on the Poch to come in on the other thread but I reckon you’d go for Tuchel actually. Levy seems to like ex Chelsea managers π. Joking aside, I think Conte will at least finish this season then who knows? Could well be a strong finish despite this poor run.

2nd January 2023 at 6:23 am #202179In all seriousness, I reckon it depends on the Jan window…
Get in a RWB and a LCB to fit this 3-4-3 he’s very persistant with (along with all the injuries back sooner than later) and it should make for a interesting race for the Top 4… don’t get those players and finish outside the Top 4 (combined with both Poncho and Tommy Tickle on the market possibly) will make for large amount of cyber fishwrappings!
Although, I will say in Conte’s defense to a certain degree, doesn’t help when the players on the pitch keep having brain farts (like Hugo yesterday, thought we were the better team up until then) or Dier against Brentford last week (the “slice” leading to the corner to their goal for example!).

2nd January 2023 at 6:24 am #202181And an attacking mid-fielder… we’re absolutely toothless against teams like Villa who from the first whistle were playing 5-5-0 and hoping to “sneak one” on the counter…

2nd January 2023 at 6:33 am #202182I didn’t see the game Chucky but, in fairness to Villa, they had twice as many shots as Spurs. 6 shots at home when you’re chasing a game from just after the half-way point doesn’t look great. Just out of curiosity, who would be your choice in the event Conte doesn’t stick around (or is sacked)?

2nd January 2023 at 6:37 am #202183Reckon the stats for yesterdays game was a great example of how misleading stats can be…
As for a new manager, I would love to see Poncho get another crack… despite common (yours! π ) opinion, I think he had a lot of “nonsense” to deal with during his stay that most managers don’t have to deal with, the year or two at Wembly, the lack of transfer for the new stadium etc… would be nice to see what he could do under more “normal” curcumstances.

2nd January 2023 at 7:03 am #202184Yeah they say you should never go back but I can understand you wanting him back. I think he’d be helped by the fact he would come in as a league winner (albeit from a league he should be winning with ease). Two very different managers. Probably premature to be talking about Conte’s replacement just yet though. As far as Poch goes, I think it has to be to follow Conte (if he’s ever going to go back to Spurs) as I suspect he might end up taking another PL job otherwise (Chelsea, Newcastle, West Ham, Everton?) if he has to wait around for much longer. By then, he’s probably blown his chance of ever going back.

2nd January 2023 at 7:37 am #202185Can’t see the two financially doped clubs changing managers anythime soon, and I doubt he’ll go to Wet Spam due to the Cock’s connections (ooo er misses!), and Everton is just a basket case to start with, would think he would pass on that one if it was offered… (kinda surprised he didn’t go to Villa but I reckon that sets the bar on what clubs he would consider and they would certainly be above the Wet Spam and Everton).
I think, with regards to the Prem, he wouldn’t go to anybody outside the “Top 7” purely for ego reasons… and us Cocks are probably favourites to be changing manager next in the “Top 7”. Klopps going nowhere, neither of the Manc Managers are going anywhere, Howe has surely got himself some credit in the bank now as he’s having a great season (especially if they get Top 4!), can’t see Arteta going anywhere soon (and when he does it will be City!), and the West London mafia have a “long term plan”…

2nd January 2023 at 10:07 am #202187Ah conte is just to negative. You accept that if it brings results but spurs have been dreadful. His teams are built on a string bsck 5 and spurs at the back have been awful.
Still early days for me with conte

2nd January 2023 at 10:31 am #202188Have to laugh, Waspy, Conte sets up “tighter than a ducks butt!” at the back, and it’s all negative and boring football (made even worse when it fails! π ) yet Villa show up and do exactly the same thing… and it’s a “master class” from Emmery… LOL!!!
Fair enough, we haven’t been good enough for sure the last 7/8 games, but right now, our biggest problem is stupid mistakes, we’ve got a bit of a confidence crisis going on… it was hard enough trying to break down the 5-5-0 Villa started with, but gifting them a goal and doing their job for them doesn’t help anybody.
As mentioned, right now we’re crying out for a new RWB, some sort of attacking midfielder, and a left sided CB to replace Davies… get one or two of those in these window (wouldn’t sulk if we got all 3!) and I think we’ll still be in with a shout for Top4… still a lot of games to play!

2nd January 2023 at 10:57 am #202190Conte would have suited Manchester United at the time in my opinion with the players we had. I reckon the 3 in defence would have suited Maguire and the likes of Pogba would have benefited from him. He seems to find a system which works around certain players, for example Lukaku.
His style isnβt always pleasing on the eye, but he would have got results.
