999, I think you’ve misunderstood my sentence, to many hims in it so I’ve put the names in
“The trick though would be Levy wanting Poch to go and but making Poch think Levy wants Poch to stay, and obviously Poch having a team to go to”
Think Levy would be glad to get away with a mutual agreement if he wanted shot of him….Pagan

3rd October 2019 at 10:08 pm #49215Pagan, “Think Levy would be glad to get away with a mutual agreement if he wanted shot of him….” Of course he would but it’s still a big if imo and maybe Allegri aside who will probably be on the wanted list of bigger Clubs than Spurs who could Spurs get who is a step up from Poch?
The ingredients in the cake might be wrong but that doesn’t mean we should always blame the baker.
It’s a difficult one to call right now only time will tell.
But that’s the problem with big long contracts they look great to both sides when everything is going in the right direction but they can be a bit of a millstone when things get a bit rocky.
“Mauricio Pochettino has sparked fears among the first team in North London that he wants out of the club, while the Tottenham Hotspur boss has left some uneasy with his tactical calls this season, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper claims that players have become fearful of the prospect of Pochettino calling time on his tenure in charge of the top-four regulars, and suggests that the Argentine is actively searching for a way out of the club
Pochettino has been in charge of Tottenham since May 2014 and has overseen 286 games with the North Londoners – more fixtures than with any previous side of his managerial career.
Spurs have endured a challenging season so far, though, with the team losing at home to Premier League strugglers Newcastle United in August before failing to convert leads into wins against Arsenal, Olympiacos and more recently Bayern Munich.
The mauling Spurs suffered at the hands of the Bavarian powerhouse in the Champions League was the first time Tottenham have conceded seven goals in a home fixture throughout their history.
Speaking after the game, Pochettino stressed the importance of his players remaining united in the face of an adverse result, but his mood has sparked fears among some players that he is considering whether he wishes to remain in North London for much longer.
Pochettino is also claimed to have become distant in training and watches some sessions from indoors, with the Argentine’s demeanour noticeably different to before the summer break when Tottenham lost the Champions League final to Liverpool in Madrid.
Some of Spurs’ key players are even becoming somewhat confused by certain decisions Pochettino has made this season and have taken particular note of his treatment to the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli, who have all spent time out of the first team fold.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is not currently prepared to sack Pochettino, despite his club’s poor results so far this season, as he would be obliged to pay the Argentine £32m to break his contract.
Tottenham would appear to have placed themselves in a difficult situation with the break clause allegedly in Pochettino’s contract, as it makes it almost impossible for them to sack the Argentine without things deteriorating behind the scenes to the point where players could have to go on strike to force change.
Claims of players being uneasy at his decisions and questioning whether Pochettino is committed will also likely worry the Tottenham fanbase and widen the calls (Express) for Levy to take action.
The Spurs chairman must first try and see what Pochettino’s problem is, though, as the situation could be resolvable, and Tottenham will need their manager’s future sorted before next summer when they could have to sign replacements for Eriksen, Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.”

4th October 2019 at 7:28 am #49220Peggy… “Spuds Going In Circles!” more like…
Overall, I think it’s more the players than the manager, and I think Poncho has earned the right to go for Spuds 2.0, ship out those who “commitment” is questionable, and see who he can get….
We’ve yet to see if Wee Ryan, Lo Cecil and this Clarke lad are anygood, that’s Wee Eriks and Danny’s “replacements” right there (although I’d bust the bank for Chillwell and Maddison from Foxy Ladies given the choice!)… would like another CB to join but no idea who… maybe Ake from the Cherries, or maybe even a punt on Stoned from City…
Not 100% sure about the links with Dubya from the Old Lady, that is a lot of money, and with Kane, Son, Ali, Moura, Lamala, Clarke and Parrot up top and with N-Dumb (who looks better by the game!), Disco, Winksy (sorry Bricky, I think he’s got a great potential, just not at the bottom of a diamond!), Lo Cecil and even Dier, I think midfield is sorted… and I wouldn’t be surprised to see us go back for that Bruno lad from Portugal either in Jan…
It’s the D that needs work on… (according to my misses! 🙂 )

4th October 2019 at 7:36 am #49222I think Spurs biggest problems are their contract rebels and the lack of investment both those stars have collided this season and neither is down to Pochettino.
The biggest potential problem Spurs face going forwards is the potential loss of Kane he’s 26 now and the clock is beginning to run down on his chances to win trophies and a Spurs rebuild will take time and may well not fit into his thinking.

4th October 2019 at 7:59 am #49224Reckon you’re overestimating both the time and the size of the re-build cyber chum…
As for Kane, reckon his “star” has faded a little bit anyway, not 100% what the stats are, but I reckon about 50% of his goals since last Christmas have been peno’s, I know this season it’s 10 goals including 5 penos… maybe it’s just form, or issues with those ankles, but he’s not been that player he was 24 months ago for a while now. I would seriously consider it if somebody slapped down 150 on the table to be honest…

4th October 2019 at 8:04 am #49226i agree nancy, i think the worlkd cup runined a few players, they seemed to peak in that tourno then lose form…HK, Trippier, Ali, Lingard….leading up to the WC and during the comp they were all on fire and consistantly playing at a high level then tanked
was it to many games and no rest?
mind you i think HK went backwards in the touro…started as a striker and finished as some kind of strange midfield player he kept dropping off so much and that seems to have continued

4th October 2019 at 9:01 am #49228Yeah, not wrong there Buffy!! I think it’s all about the ego, certain players are suddenly thinking they’re a lot better than they are… and too many off field activities going on, all catching a dose of Emoji-man-itis!!

4th October 2019 at 9:01 am #49229I don’t think you can underestimate the ankle injury Kane suffered prior to the World Cup with the severe lack of match practice at the end of the season contributing to his World Cup performances.
The goal Kane scored against Leicester was world class and injury free he’s still a great striker allegedly Levy has put £250m on his head and I don’t think Spurs will get that but it’s all about the negotiation.?
As to the size of the rebuild Chucky it depends what level you’re rebuilding to be retaining Spurs position as a regular top 4 Club isn’t probably a massive rebuild winning the top trophies is a significant rebuild imo though.

4th October 2019 at 9:08 am #49230Puppy, not many are going to catch Liberoools or City in the near future, and it’s not even about the money these days (does help for sure!), but are there that many players around who can elevate the rest of us to catch those two?
It would be hard to get Premiership players to reach that level, what players could the likes of catching pack get form the rest of the league to make that leap? Especailly as the rest of the Premiership don’t really need to sell? AS I mentioned, I’d love Madison and Chillwell from Leicester, maybe Zaha from Palace, can’t see us getting anybody from the likes of Chelsea, Goonies, UnYooUtd (and they would have the same problem!), so that leaves you looking overseas…
And, as we all know, the problem with oversea’s players is it’s very hit and miss if they can cope with the Premiership beast!! How many times have we seen top draw players, your Schenko’s and Veron’s come to Engerland and flop??
I’ll say it now, while Pepe and Kloop are in the Prem, everybody else is simply treading water and hoping to get/stay in the Top 4…

4th October 2019 at 10:18 am #49233Chucky, agree with all that inc your nominated players Zaha is gettable at the right price the other two wouldn’t be easy and the 3 would cost the best part of £200m and Daniel hates opd ING his wallet and you would still need to sign Centre Backs because of the likely departures.
I think your current situation and the above is what’s irking Poch and I thi k he too wants to try and win the top trophies not sure how it will all work out from here.

4th October 2019 at 10:33 am #49234I’m not trying to annoy the Liberoools on here with this comment, but I also think Poncho (and a few of that squad!) might still be ‘sulking’ about the CL final too… that peno still gives me the shudders when I think about it and I was in Finland… 🙁
It literally felt like a punch in the stomach for me, 22 seconds into the biggest game of my footballing fan career, and quite possibly the biggest game of Spurs entire history, and very probably the biggest game of those 11 players career (except maybe Hugo who played in the WC Final the year before)… and that happens!!
But as for the rest of your post, one or even two CB’s should be top of the incoming list… the gruesome Belgian twosome are big boots to fill!

4th October 2019 at 11:42 am #49239AnonymousMav, I agree it is time for a shake up , the sooner the better , we will lose Toby, Jan and Christian in the summer, tough to take but better than Poch going as far as I’m concerned.

4th October 2019 at 1:22 pm #49258Come on then Bricky, say Poncho does go, who would you want in the hot-seat??
For me it’s a straight choice between Allegro and Steady Eddie. Allegro on the off chance he might be able to get all the lads to stay (unlikely!) or if Steady Eddie if it really is time for a major re-build.
Can’t really think of anybody else to be honest…
Just not Maureen, for fooks sake! 🙂

4th October 2019 at 1:46 pm #49261Hey, Puppy, want to copypaste today’s Mail piece about Poncho staying? It’s actually got quotes in it from the man himself, rather than those speculative pieces you seem to find… 🙂

4th October 2019 at 1:48 pm #49262Sometimes these things can work in your favour and I think the current Spurs squad may have been in need of a reboot and that’s what it looks like will happen at least in the Summer for sure.
The size of the compensation either way makes things very tricky for Pochettino to move on but this is football and you can never say never the problem for Spurs if that’s what happens is whose available to replace him?
I can’t see Gareth Southgate leaving England at this point and his record as a Club Manager is questionable at best, Allegri would be a very good capture but I think there will be lots of competition for him this Summer from a number of big Clubs, Eddie Howe is an obvious and probably a good choice but it would be a big step up for him and he’s very comfortable in his own little bubble down at Bournemouth, Brendan Rodgers would be a good choice it would cost Spurs in terms of compensation but he’s very ambitious and if approached by Spurs I think he might come.
Despite what you say re Mourinho Chucky I wouldn’t write him out of the equation if Poch was to go he’s available, he’s based in London has won everything there is to win multiple times knows the PL inside out and Levy tried to get him previously. Although I can understand your reluctance.
However I think Poch is saying the right things today in saying he wants to stay at Spurs and find a way of how to be successful and I think that would be the best outcome for all.

4th October 2019 at 2:43 pm #49268But what’s a speculative piece written by people who sole purpose is to cause controversy and sell newspapers, and which pieces actually contain quotes?? I tend to “believe” the ones with the quotes in personally, rather than what a desk-jockey wrote down the pub, drinking his expenses and facing a deadline… 🙂
Anyway, do you really want to keep admitting you read the Mail?? 🙂 🙂
