Starting to think it’s time for a change in the dog out. Although I also think Poncho needs to get all his summer signings on the pitch on a regular basis before we judge too seriously. Going to be a long hard season either way and I’m not feeling any where near the confidence I had at the start of the season about a Top 4 spot. IF Poncho can get the “rebel force” to get their heads down perhaps, they certainly have the quality I feel, but if the “Famous Five” have downed tools, especially those on the defensive side of the team, then it’s going to be a struggle.
Leicester must be licking those lips!

26th September 2019 at 9:11 am #48494Can’t say I’ve read it so I’ll just trust you judgement on how “amusing” they are… 🙂
It’s certainly a Top2 these days… which I suppose makes it a little bit more exciting for everybody apart from the Top2.

26th September 2019 at 11:17 am #48511Mav, I would think it would be more worrying if there was no talk of buying in January, the squad needs hungry committed players and without even selling anyone except trippier the numbers in that regard have reduced at spurs because players are looking elsewhere it seems. As long as Poch doesnt start doing that too I think spurs will be fine in the long run.

26th September 2019 at 11:41 am #48520The form is really bad Mav, I might be wrong here but if I was in Poch’s position I think I would have every motivation to make it clear to everyone that you either shape up or you will be replaced. What has he got to lose? I am sure if a little encouragement is all that was needed we wouldnt be having this conversation, because the quality is there to be performing much better than this no doubt.

26th September 2019 at 11:45 am #48521Lol Stevo, 4 players and they can challenge for everything? If the players are Mbappe, Messi, Kante and Hazard I tend to agree with him 🙂

26th September 2019 at 11:46 am #48522LD-It makes any sense only if he has decided to ship out a few players he thinks are not performing.i.e.Jan,Toby,Eriksen,ect.But if they dont win anything major this season, then the manager himself needs a new challenge.

26th September 2019 at 11:46 am #48523Hinted at being replaced in January can’t be any worse than trying to be sold last summer, can it? 🙁

26th September 2019 at 11:49 am #48524That is a fair point Banjo, especially regards Eriksen who was very openly up for sale this summer.

26th September 2019 at 11:53 am #48525Mav, that may be the case whether he wins anything or not, might be the case already.
I have never believed Poch could win a league or champs league at spurs, and so not winning one of them should not be held against him. However I really don’t understand how he can not value the FA cup or League cup, he has openly talked about how worthless they are but as a fan that is bound to sting because they are obtainable trophies that would mean a great deal to spurs fans I am sure.

26th September 2019 at 12:42 pm #48526LD-4-5 years should be long enough for a manager staying @ a club these days.

26th September 2019 at 2:18 pm #48559For a lot of clubs sure, but I thought spurs were one of the exceptions at the moment to be fair. You may be right though mate and Poch might have done all he can do.

26th September 2019 at 3:14 pm #48564I don’t think it’s about how long Poncho has been at the club, I think it’s more of a question about how long that team has been together. This summers signings haven’t really had a proper crack to be fair, so apart from Lucas, you’re pretty much looking at the same team for about 3 seasons now. The team has gone a bit style, got a bit older, and some of the Golden Oldies have one eye on a final payday.
I think it’s pretty obvious Toby and Wee Erik are off, certainly looks like Jan the Man won’t be offered a new contract so very likely be off. Rose and Vicky have one more season after this and looks like they won’t be offered new contracts anyway so they can either leave now or wait for freebies and I don’t understand why Vicky doesn’t go, he’ll be getting no game time unlike Rose.
Do think Poncho deserves a chance to try and build Spuds 2.0, but will he get the cash/time to do so?
In the meantime he has the problem of trying to coax performances from players who have one eye on the door… or does he just drop them and use the rest of the squad now until Jan/next summer?
