Yep Stevo, stand still in the EPL & you fall behind. That’s why I’m a bit concerned with Klopp saying we won’t buy anything major. You know city will so you have to just to try keep up.

28th May 2019 at 1:41 pm #41650it is tough without the trusted 20/20 hindsight, do you “upset” a balanced team or do you press on, pool have a few oldies (Milner) and still need a slightly dtronger squad depth so you would hope for 3/4 out and the same in but either upgrades or young potential….
cant wait for the summer window to get going in anger its going to e busy all over europe and i think we will see money spent figures being the highest

28th May 2019 at 2:14 pm #41654Oz-There is a logic in what Klopp is saying-it means they wont sound desperate and the players they are after wont cost a fortune.

28th May 2019 at 10:38 pm #41715Mav you could say that but Klopp has said this before & didnβt buy, I remember laughing when he said it then being flabbergasted when he didnβt buy.

4th August 2019 at 6:00 am #44339So, after a dubious and ultimately disastrous end to the season and a transfer window that started off impressively but is now heading towards a feeling of de-ja-vue with regards to not signing anybody, I can’t help but feel 3rd is the minimum we should be aiming for.
We’ve managed to feel the Moose shaped hole in the squad which is a huge plus, looks like Toby will be staying for his final year, very likely Danny is staying and 50/50 on Wee Erik staying, which is another plus.
Still expecting Ryan from Fulham and at least one of the lad from Betis or Fernandoes, maybe even both if Wee Erik does scarper.
Still a little bit concerned about RB, doubly concerned about rumours Disco Siissisiskko has been “practising” there in training…

4th August 2019 at 7:26 am #44340Maybe we should have a “going forward” thread for every Club and if things are going badly we could have a supplementary “going backwards” by Club thread too.?

7th August 2019 at 9:11 pm #44682Having a hard time working out the Spud starting 11 with both Lo Cecil and Sessenenegong joining…
Gk Hugo
RB Disco (or so the rumors say!) CB, Jan & Toby, LB Rose
DM Winks & N-Dumb
AM Son, Lo Cecil, Ali
STR Sir Harryleaving us with Erikson, Lamala, Moura, Sessebebg, Sanches, Dier, Gazza on the bench… and I’m sure I’m missing somebody here…

7th August 2019 at 10:06 pm #44705If Spurs can add Lo Celso and Sessengnon they’ve probably had the best window especially if they hold on to Eriksen.

8th August 2019 at 4:42 am #44726Agree with both posts, chaps, still a bit worried about RB… but then I just remembered that Deir was a RB before he was a CB/DM… now I’m a lot worried!!

4th September 2019 at 7:20 am #46992Four games in, the transfer window shut, and some things that we’ve learned!!
Wee Erik and Lo Cecil are too similar to play in the same 11. I can see Wee Erik starting for the foreseeable future, but I suspect the longer the season goes on, those roles will reverse.
Same situation with Danny and Ryan, Danny being the starter but Ryan taking up more and more playing time as the season goes on…. assuming he’s as good as everybody says he is!! π
N-Dumb is already missed, hopefully he can get a decent run of games after this stupid break.
Sanchez is not a right-back, can only assume Juan The Forth is ear-marked for that role once he’s back from injury. At the very least, play Disco or even Dier at RB!!
Jan the Man needs to be regular starter!!!
Overall, happy with a couple of points from the City/Goonies games, better than last years respective results, still annoyed about the Castle game, and I think the blame for that result lays with Poncho, playing politics with hes squad rather than just picking the best 11. But it wouldn’t be the Spuds without a couple of stupid results each season!! Hopefully there won’t be too many more!! π
Still expecting 3rd place come May, anything lower will be a disappointment…

4th September 2019 at 7:57 am #46996Wouldn’t be surprised, Waspy, I think I told you before this team peaked about 18 months ago and the two “blank” transfer windows have come back to bite us in the Arsenal. All depends on what happens at Real I reckon…
Pretty sure he’ll stay until summer though.

4th September 2019 at 8:34 am #46997the man needs to win something or just be another also ran manager….and if he cant do that at the spuds and last year would seem to have been the best chance then its not getting any easier…so much can change, on cup win could see big changes but i sense more of the same, close but no cigar, then he moves on and the whole thing starts again by which time the psuds will be back in midtable π

4th September 2019 at 11:19 am #47018AnonymousLike any long term supporter I would love a trophy, anyone would do .
I’m not so sure Poch will leave , I believe he is in this for the foreseeable future . He now needs to stop complaining and start getting back to winning games.
He has kept all his squad and added 3 quality players which should have us at least challenging for a CL spot and being in with a shout for the domestic cups.If City and Liverpool put their mind to it they could sweep the board at home and in Europe which leaves the rest picking over the scraps.
This season could be one of the best for European places pick any from United, Arsenal , Chelsea, Spurs , Leicester, Everton and maybe Wolves._____________________________

4th September 2019 at 11:42 am #47021Spuds for third, Goonies for forth (that front line will win more games than either UnYooUtd’s or Chelsea’s), with Foxy Ladies a strong tip for top 6 if either of them really has a bad run at some stage of the season. Everton 7th, Wolves 8th, Spam-boys 9th…

4th September 2019 at 7:57 pm #47050The question is:was Lucas really offered around Europe, especially to teams in Spain?Thought he should start more often, would have him ahead of DA.

4th September 2019 at 8:08 pm #47053Problem with Lucas is when it works, it works brilliantly, but perhaps it works 1 in 4 games. People keep going on about the CL semi… take that game out the equation, and you’ve got something like 14 goals in 62 games (not sure how many are subs mind you!). And he offers nothing against a packed defence either, great on the counter, but that’s it. Not saying he’s terrible, and I’m not saying he’s better than Ali who has gone back over the last 18 months, but should certainly be infront of Lamalea for sure.
