27, I’m doing good, still on crutches non weight-bearing for another month.
I watched the Chelsea match yesterday and you are light years away from us, top 4 for sure, as for my lot top half is about our limit.

I guess it’s a crisis. They were dreadful at Brighton. Simply awful. What is happening there? Stale and a lack of investment by deep pockets Levy must be part of the problem and Poch has probably had a gutful and is now out of ideas. Even Kane looked out of form. I guess the loss to Bayern may have shattered their confidence too and given Brighton some hope.

Spurs look to me as if they’ve given up, Chelsea67 I think you are right, the thrashing against Bayern has destroyed them. They can’t defend, their midfield seems disorganised and Kane seems out of sorts. My side Arsenal find themselves 3rd with out having played consistently well even during a 90min game. We’ve ridden our luck in every match. Chelsea look a shoe in for a top4 finish.

I think Spurs problems pre date the Bayern game and getting to the CL Final papered over the cracks.

Levy is a shareholder but he doesn’t own Spurs and it’s always been about profit with the majority shareholder Joe Lewis.

I think Lewis has set Spurs up to sell with the new ground etc but without you invest in players which is a constant requirement to stay at the top and compete things can turn around very quickly.

Key players running their contracts down limited investment and Pochettino’s frustrations with both has all come together.

How they try and turn it around will be interesting and it’s difficult for either Poch or Spurs to part company given the size of the compensation both ways.

999 i think you may be right, the issue goes back much farther
end of last season they tanked as they always do and were even beaten to 3rd place by your mob! they like united under Ole have had been bad for around the same length of time starting the last 3rd of last season…then an odd summer releasing trippier and no replacement, ageing squad who are now disillusioned after the buzz of playing in the shiny new stadium wears off with still no trophies, its becoming a perfect storm as they failed to invest previously, they have much better players than united tho nd poch is better, so a downturn for them wont be as drastic as currently for united but they need to make the right choices with players and manager now not to go the same way…

Is the situation really retrievable for Poch though? Whilst it’s not all down to him (although he did know what he was signing up for), the problem is the pressure increases on the manager in these situations causing fraught relationships with the players. And Spurs can’t just immediately offload these players tomorrow and suddenly replace them. So how does this situation turn itself around in the next few months if left as it is? All the while all the different parties reputations are taking a hit. Hence as Pagan said, the departures may be resolved by mutual consent.

It’s no surprise to me , one way or another I watch every game Spurs play and this has been coming for a couple of years. The fact that this implosion hasn’t come before is down to Poch. Everything has already been said with regard to Levy and lack of incoming transfers but that is only part of the big problem.
We have a squad that even allowing for this Summers signings is paper thin, we don’t have a good enough RB which has left Sanchez and Disco playing there ,which is just criminal. We have 2 CB’s who are in the last year of their contracts who look like leaving and after the performances this season so far they won’t be missed, something I never thought I would say . Danny Rose became a legend on his first appearance and has done Spurs proud but he is another who may benefit from a change of club. Christian Eriksen is another who needs to move to save his career and like Toby & Jan can talk to other clubs in January, gone. Then we have Wanyama & Dier who after injuries have never recovered their form and need to move to another club. There is also Lamela who can only run sideways and offers very little as a goal threat as does Harry Winks who will stay at the club but shouldn’t be first X!.Disco has turned things around but he needs a quality player alongside him, that might be Ndombele we’ll have to see. That leaves Kane , Sonny and Lucas who I hope will stay at the club for as long as possible, but nothings certain in football. I can’t comment on Sessegnon or Lo Celso but they have to be better than what we have this season. Their is a massive rebuilding job at WHL how it got like this is down to Levy, will he be the one to fix things ? I doubt it the ride was great for a few years but the dream is now over.

Poch inherited a brilliant goalkeeper, a defence that had Vertoghen, Rose and Walker and brilliant midfield with Eriksson, Dembele and a few others. Problem with him is, he has spent close to 400m and only 40m of those signings have been success. He was lucky enough to have Kane in the academy, otherwise he would have been relying on Janssen or Soldado for goals. It could have been a different story for him. Saying that he is brilliant manager, his time at Spurs has obviously come to an end, he has a ageing defence and Spurs do not have the finances to replace the players. Thats why I believe he will do well at City, working under those 2 ex Barcelona lads and Van Bronckhorst, with the financial backing and having people around him who will find the right players suitable for his system, he will succeed.

It seems everyone has their opinion which is good, my being if and when he leaves Spurs it will be to a European club only.

cm, City are a winning machine I just can’t see them going for a Manager who has won nothing got beaten to the PL title in a two horse race with Leicester City and disregards both the domestic Cups.

I’m not even sure why we are talking about Pep leaving it’s been a poor PL start by City’s standards but that’s primarily because of the injury list and the fact they’ve had to cut back on player purchases because they’re under the microscope with UEFA due to FFP.

City will be back firing on all cylinders once they get all their key players back although that might be too late for a realistic title challenge.

….as for Poch and Spurs they need to move the contract rebels on and if they bring in a couple of decent signings in January and get the signings they have made up and running they could still make the top 4.

Levy won’t want to pay Poch anywhere Β£32m though so that would come down to how much they are really fed up with each other and how much each is prepared to compromise.

I certainly can’t see another Club being willing to pay anywhere near that for Poch now either.

That true Nine, but they did go for Pellegrini who did not win anything notable in Europe.

Nine, Utd would probably be stupid enough to pay that. I don’t actually have a problem with paying that kind of money for a manager. That kind of price would buy you an average player these days, unless you find a bargain somewhere. I’d much sooner spend that money on a manager, who is more important than any player than on a player. I mean, if someone offered Barcelona, for example, either Neymar the player or Guardiola the manager, I bet they’d go for the latter. Would it therefore be logical that the price to get either is roughly the same? Why then does the fee seem like an issue?

All that said, I don’t want Poch so this is more about the point itself re a fee for a manager, than me arguing Utd’s case to pay that particular fee.

Agreed Ed. I wouldn’t want Poch either if I was a United fan.

United need to get Woodward away from the football side of the Club appoint a credible DOF and bring in Allegri imo.

As you’ve said numerous times had if not been for Ole’s history with United based on his managerial career United would have never gone near Ole.

Managing United is one of the biggest jobs and challenges in football it’s too big for a Manager who managed Cardiff and Molde.

Only City really know that mate but I suspect he was a Manager in waiting until they could get Pep and he had won things in S.A.

As I said yesterday I don’t think a loss to Wolves heralds the departure of Pep and I still think he will see out his contract at City which would bring him to the end of the 2020/21 season. The linkage of Poch to City is just 1+1=3 imo.
