Poch has made Spurs THE London club to be at, even Chelsea and Arsenal are playing second fiddle to them at the moment. The only reason they don’t have bigger players is they tend not to splash the cash. Geographically they are a more attractive prospect than us too.
It’s an indictment of the Glazers and Woodturd to be sure but there are other factors at play as well. Levy runs a tight ship trying to get the most out of his club while being successful. The Glazers just want to take the most out of the club, not get the most out of it.Been thinking about this for a while, yet reading this post on Uniteds TT page has made me realise it.They are based in London, have a new,shiny,state-of-the-art stadium to play in,have a fantastic,long-term manager in charge with a clear,long-term strategy in mind and place on how to run a club and become succesfull, much more likely to win trophies than @ United.Ndombele and Dybala have turned United down, the former already there, the latter close to signing it seems. And while United have been turned down before from world class players, there isnt much difference now between United and Spurs even considering the stupid wages we pay,cos some players want to actually be able to win a trophy or 2 in their careeres, and not just have an huge bank account.

7th August 2019 at 11:05 am #44639But didn’t United turn down the chance to sign Dybala because of his wage demands?
United are still bigger than any other Club in the PL given their History, Worldwide fan base, Revenue and Attendances.
Sometimes I wonder who the United fan is Mav you or me.?

7th August 2019 at 12:33 pm #44641It sounds like a very dodgy story with Dybala,9.Apparently it was he who refused to accept a £25% reduced wage because we are not in the CL,and only then United seemed to pull out just to save face it seems?!

7th August 2019 at 12:59 pm #44642That’s the things about transfers Mav we never know the true story.? I’m not sure Dybala ants to leave Juve but Juve probably need to sell him if they want to buy Lukaku.

7th August 2019 at 8:10 pm #44676Yeah Dybala didn’t want the reduction for no CL. Pretty understandable really for a club who don’t look like getting regular CL. Then Utd pulled out due to extraordinary wage demands, reportedly the same demands he’s making for Spurs. Interesting to see whether or not Spurs will be naive enough to pay it. We’ve certainly learnt our lesson there anyway.
Will be a long time before Spurs are a bigger club than Utd. You don’t become a big club by having a shiny new stadium and being good at finishing 3rd and getting to the odd final. Trophies are the only barometer of success and regular trophies over a long sustained period are the only thing which would turn also rans into an elite level club. All that said, it matters absolutely nothing. Because, Spurs are a CL club, based in London and those kind of things are much more relevant when it comes to attracting players than how big a club is. If QPR suddenly got promoted and got into the CL, they’d probably have an easier time attracting players than the Northern clubs, which puts them at a huge advantage. Often it will be the wives and girlfriends making the decision on where they want to live and neither Manchester or Liverpool are particularly appealing vs the bright lights of London.
So to summarise, Spurs a bigger club? Not a chance. They’re a million miles away from Arsenal, never mind Utd. But, as for being a more appealing place for a player to go? Absolutely!

7th August 2019 at 9:03 pm #44679Mav, what about almost 2 decades of dominance mate and knocking Liverpool off their mantle?
United are going through a cyclical phase since 2013. That’s life. Liverpool went through it in the 90s.
Tottenham need to really start winning trophies.

8th August 2019 at 12:00 am #44718AnonymousSpurs are definitely not bigger than Utd. Liverpool aren’t bigger than Utd.
If any Liverpool lads on here are upset at what I’ve just said, tough titty, it’s true.
We are however on our way up that ladder once again and who knows but it’ll be a long time coming.

8th August 2019 at 10:53 am #44745Mav, if the measure is just by CL trophies won alone you’re right but it’s much broader than that. Nobody in the PL is bigger than United judged across all parameters.

8th August 2019 at 12:27 pm #44758We’ve had these type of discussions on various sites over a 10 year period.
What are we defining a ‘Big Club’ by? Leeds United are a big club, so are Newcastle United.
That said, Manchester United are Mega and Global, most probably bigger than Liverpool, in fact they went streets ahead of us.

8th August 2019 at 1:43 pm #44768AnonymousDefine it by trophies, fanbase and finances and Utd are well ahead of everyone.
The thing is, it doesn’t bother me at all. Liverpool to me are a special club, with an incredible fanbase and history. I’m ok with the fact that there are bigger clubs out there. Not sure why people get their panties in a twist over it (not here but in general).

8th August 2019 at 2:06 pm #44773I thought Chucky summed it up perfectly “Spuds are still the biggest club in the universe in my house, that’s all you need to know and all that really matters!!”
For all fans their Club is the most important and biggest Club to them.

8th August 2019 at 2:26 pm #44776We lost the head-to-head, when United won trophies a few years back. For me personally, that’s the ultimate ‘measure’ that matters to me, nothing else as such.
That’s why every peace of Silverware is important to win if we want to return back to being England’s most successful Club.
