23rd August 2023 at 8:39 pm #208703There seems to be an aura from 2 games played in how the season will pan out. Always embarrassing for me for example reading a year down the line if I’ve got it wrong lol, although to a small degree back of mind, joyful as long as there are no Liverpool predictions ๐
It’s Man City based on Rodri and Kovacic. What people maybe ought to consider is some styles of play and formations that are not the ‘here and now’ are not deemed as ‘unfashionable’.
‘High press’ is just a buzz phrase. People latch on that probably don’t understand football in-out. Cut your cloth accordingly to give you the best possible chance and make you the strongest.
Arsenal, the nearest challengers; could be traces of 1994/1995 where the Gunners just edge it, on the final day ๐

23rd August 2023 at 10:04 pm #2087067) Spurs owned by an insider dealer too old to be a wanker if that’s the acceptable vernacular?

24th August 2023 at 4:13 am #208707Really. Adders, you sure about that? Based on evidence that’s recently come to light over the last few weeks (surprisde you lot in the UK haven’t heard/read about it, not exactly been a secret over here) I reckon the club owned by an insider dealer to old to be a wanker (but can afford to have it done for him) are quite likely to finish higher than 7th…

24th August 2023 at 7:26 am #208708Don’t like to make vaguely serious predictions until the transfer windows shut, but I have to say I’m a little surprised how will us Spuds are playing/performing so far this season… created plenty of chances and playing on the front foot for a change… bit unlucky against the Bee’s and rode our luck a little bit in the first half against YooUtd but I’m started to feel a little bit optimistic about this season…
With the Jammy Todgers & Micky Mousers a little bit all over the place, 5th isn’t impossible… unless Villa or Brighton pull a surprise or 2 over the course of the season…

24th August 2023 at 7:51 am #208709And we should be getting a new #9 to add to the mix… (I love Richy, but it’s not working out, is it?)

24th August 2023 at 9:26 am #208710I think spurs be found soon enough babjo. I really like ange but ange ball ad they refer to it as lol
They canโt defend and will be caught out soon but itโs good to watch. Young team aswell. Weโre did you get the left full form? Very good and biousmma showing us what a good player he is.
Rumour of Brennan off forest for 50m. I hope spurs do well. Loved ange up at Celtic but his teams can be a bit open.

24th August 2023 at 10:12 am #208711I somewhat agree Banjo, itโs all about the collective positivity with a manager at a club and I sort of see a parallel with Rodgers when he came to Liverpool. Theyโll be hiccups but players love to have that positive clear identity. Just a shame you lost Kane. Any more talk of potential replacements?
As for Man Utd, Iโm not surprised to see them start as they have. They still look weak at the back and short up front and I just donโt think Ten Hag is having a significant impact on them. Had Liverpool & Chelsea had strong seasons last season, they could easily have finished 5th or 6th. Unless Hรธjlund really has a flyer, I donโt see much changing for them.
As for Chelsea, again, whilst Pochโs strength is undoubtedly making a team solid and tactically sound, I just donโt think Pochโs Spurs ever played off the cuff enough at the top end of the pitch to really make inroads at the top of the table. And given Chelsea lack front players/strikers, Iโd still worry about them here.

24th August 2023 at 10:39 am #208712Probably right, Waspy, but losing 5-3 is better than losing 5-0 like we were doing a couple of times last season. The LB, we signed him last summer and loaned him back for another year, Udinase I think it was. Looks great going forward but question marks about him defenisevly (but I think we can all see that!). Looking good for him, but then again, I thought the same thing when Wee Reggie showed up 3 years ago before he went full Dele mode… Moose-ima looks like a new signing this year, wasn’t impressed with him at all last year, never understood what the fuss was, but that’s starting to look more like he was following orders at the time… and I think Kane would have scored at least 3 this season if he had stayed.. ๐
As for a #9, linked with about 6 of ’em!! As long as it isn’t big Lakakau, I’ll give ’em all a chance. My personally choice (based on YouTube highlights it must be said) would be that Orban lad… he can finish from all over the place, inside the box like Lineker, outside the box like Harry & Bale used to do, and a couple of decent “free-kicks” a la James Ward-Prowse, no idea about his hold-up play… whether he can do it in the Prem is another matter obviously, but he looks like a perfect fit for Angie-Ball to me!
Mikus, really does seem Angie has cheered everybody up and everybody is smiling again, according to all “behind the scenes” reports going on, after the rather overall depressing reigns of Maureen and Conte.
Don’t think for one minute we’re catching ADSC or the Goonies, and highly unlikely to finsih above the Bone Saw Boyz…. but the optimist in me is thinking a decent #9 and Benny back in another 8 weeks or so (he would have been out player of the season possibly, he was so good before the injury!), and with slight question marks over everybody else at the moment, 4th just might happen!I need to stop lunch time drinking… ๐

7th May 2024 at 6:45 pm #214528Haha, what was I doing that night? ๐ 2nd Para should convey essentially on adapting to different formations that may not be deemed as fashionable to others, but one that your ‘stock’ of players can maximize from.
Yeah, a close call between the 2 of Arsenal and Man City. I didn’t predict how we would fare as judging by the transition we were going through at the time, I wasn’t confident of us finishing about 6th place.
It will go the the last day. One of my Arsenal work mates believe City will drop points at Spurs and then it could go down to goal difference.
