Nothing further really to say from morals point of view. Values and Principles clearly are few and far between. This is what happens when a family club like Manchester United is sold to the Glazers and becomes a business.
That social media clip was a cry for help of domestic violence. Why is Luis Suarez even brought into the discussion? Doesn’t excuse one jot Mason Greenwood’s actions.
Pretty disappointed and disgusted from what I’ve read if I’m completely frank.

10th August 2023 at 10:40 am #208043I want to say he’ll stay and see what happens with a much more attack minded manager than the last two, knowing he can always pick any club in the world next summer, probably stay in the Prem and get Shearer’s record… sounds like a better scenerio than buggering off and winning some trophies in a 1 team league… but I’m not Harry…

10th August 2023 at 10:48 am #208044Sean, my feeling is that the papers cannot accuse him of anything as he has not been convicted. They cannot call him a rapist, as he will sue. They have no victim giving they side. For example, in the Depp and Heard case Heard made the allegations. Papers could then report it and they used her as a witness when he sued.
They cannot do that this time as the missus is still with Greenwood.
On top of that, the papers would need to respect her right to privacy as well. Different times now for the media, despite the video.
Just my views though, and I could be completely wrong!
What the papers could hammer him on though is reporting that away fans are singing songs and what those songs accuse him of, and go with that angle, but I think they will still need to be very careful.

10th August 2023 at 11:20 am #208048Nil, be disgusted all you want about the Suarez connection but the point (which remains) is that Liverpool stuck by him because he’s very good despite being proven to have been racist to Evra. Same goes for John Terry. Same goes for Lloris who was done for drink driving. Same goes for Zouma. I’m not comparing their actions. Partey another. I’m making the point that clubs and fans tend not to act how they probably should and would act if the player is good enough despite their actions probably justifying being sacked. As Sean says, fans are fickle and they’ll soon forget what he did. Partey played all last season with nothing more than a few boos. Cheered every week by Arsenal fans. I don’t like it and would sack him if it was my choice.

10th August 2023 at 11:24 am #208049Fair point Sean also re “cleared” vs “charges dropped”. I know some media went with the “cleared of all charges” headlines but you’re right that there is a difference.

10th August 2023 at 11:30 am #208050Pretty sure the papers can say whatever they like as long as they say “alledgedly” in front of everything…

10th August 2023 at 12:55 pm #208063Enjoyed it too Sean, and I agree it will be hassle if he returns. If we had someone as back up to Hojlund, or a Β£60m+ offer for Greenwood I think the club would feel that way too. As it is, I agree with the Ed on how the club have acted throughout this, and unless they get a decent offer for him or a loan deal which he accepts their hands are tied somewhat, as they also have a duty of care for an employee who may be a complete arsehole, but unless their investigation can prove things the police cannot then they cannot do much more than integrate him back with the squad.

10th August 2023 at 1:09 pm #208069You’re right Alfie. There should well and truly be Duty of care and consideration for other colleagues before even considering the offer of reintegration.

10th August 2023 at 4:13 pm #208080Yeh I really didn’t know where to place Newcastle. They could have a sort of second season syndrome exacerbated by CL congestion. At the same time I really rate Eddie Howe as a coach – he may have raised expectations which could put pressure on him – but to have them so solid so quickly and had the impact he’s had, I think they should still have a solid season.
If Burnley have a couple of good seasons, that could obviously pave the way for the City job for Kompany.
As for us, if we don’t bring in anyone else, we’re obviously going to have a difficult season. But if today’s rumours are true, God alone knows what’s going to happen. Need to almost blank everything out until the last day of the month and see who we’ve got (or not got) when the window’s closed.

11th August 2023 at 11:34 am #208105I was very sceptical about Howe mikuis but what a job heβs done. His transformation of joelinton has being remarkable. Heβs a proper midfielder now are being converted from a terrible striker
