Saturday roll call.
Been a bit of a difficult week for me this week with a day at the Hospital which thankfully culminated with a positive phone call from my Consultant last night which was nice and created a positive aura at home sadly that got somewhat dissipated with the phone call this morning and news of my Wife’s Cousins passing due to Coronavirus.
You know it’s a terrible disease when you watch the news on TV and read the newspapers but losing someone you know brings the realisim of it all home to you even more.
Can only hope and pray that some clever Scientists discover a cure very soon. Take Care All and may you and all your families stay safe too.

2nd May 2020 at 2:48 pm #105126Afternoon all,
Apologies that I’ve not been around much recently. I’ve popped in and read the posts semi-regularly and made sure everything has continued to work as expected.
The reason I’ve not posted much is just that I’m a bit fed up of reading and hearing about this bloody virus now.
I’m also finding the lack of football really tough. I know a lot have said football is not important at the moment and that’s, of course, entirely true. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s left a huge hole in a lot of our lives. Reading about football, listening to football shows, watching football, writing posts about football all forms a huge part of my (and many others) life.
I realise football can’t come back as things stand but I really wish that wasn’t the case. It’s times like these that football becomes increasingly important as a source of entertainment.
Glad to hear everyone is keeping well and I’ll try to make more of an effort to post on here in the coming weeks.
Stay safe

2nd May 2020 at 7:52 pm #105301Well another week has flown by, work is hectic, which is good, evenings a bit boring with no grass roots sport.
Brian seems to be back on form which is great to see, Eds reappeared which again is good, would be nice for Mak to post even if it is just a thumbs up. Mixed week for 9 by the sounds of it, condolences from here to your family, Parky has had a tough time, wishing him well.
Quick request for Ed, I know Nil is banned from the site, but despite his flaws he was a part of this forum for quite a while, it may be nice if you could drop him a Personal mail just to check he’s ok and let us know.
Take care all…..Pagan

2nd May 2020 at 9:14 pm #105375pagan…nice thought about Nil.. I know his comments raised a few hackles but as you say, he was part of the forum. My only thought would be , do we loose others because of it. I have no problem with it providing lessons have been learned as to why the ban took place, Nil has to understand that or we undermine the Editor, that should not happen

2nd May 2020 at 9:18 pm #105381Brian, personally I don’t believe Nil coming back is really an option, I defend him several times, but he didn’t learn, I just thought an email from the site to check up on him in these strange times would be the right thing to do….Pagan

3rd May 2020 at 10:23 am #105986Pagan..OK..but I do not want to put any pressure on Ed either. My thoughts are he is looking in and if he wants to can re apply to Ed. I do not know but new members are appearing I note

4th May 2020 at 7:53 am #107009Nice idea Pagan. Actually, good that you reminded me. Nil and I have exchanged a few emails recently. This is what he wanted to me to pass on:
I just wanted to say Hello to Everyone on Site and hope they keep themselves Safe. Just try and eat well and keep on top of B,C, and E Vitamins. I’ve had to mix in with the Public, but we’re doing our best with the Social distancing; at times been tricky, but doing the usual routine in washing hands or using a hand sanitizer, or wearing gloves; kind of taking it week by week but we eventually WILL come out of the other side.
Nil is a good person and I’ve no problem with him personally but I feel I’ve exhausted all options there are for him to continue to post. It simply doesn’t work without someone around to police the forum when things get out of hand.

4th May 2020 at 8:18 am #107030Nice e mail from Nil Ed and I’m sure he knows it’s reciprocated by all on here.
As you rightly say Nil is a good person and it’s a shame that it doesn’t work for him on football sites but sadly we all know it doesn’t including I’m sure Nil himself.
I suspect not posting on football sites is probably doing Nil a power of good. Cheers 9’s

4th May 2020 at 8:54 am #107063Hi lads, just taking a break from football sites myself. I don’t miss football. I get what Ed is saying. I miss meeting up with friends and family but I find our lockdown very manageable . I exercise every day. I don’t miss the office. A lot of people being made redundant were I work and may happen to me soon but I’ll worry about that if it happens. People are in a much worse situation then me.
Not sure if anyone has read Ireland’s 5 phase plan to come out of this. Phase 5 isn’t till the 10th August
From tomorrow we can travel 5km instead of 2km for exercise and hardware stores open
Phase 1 starts on the 18yh of may we are still locked down till then. You can exercise in groups of 4 then.
It’s a long process as if it’s gets bad again we might have to move back a phase.
Don’t watch sky. I know football will be cancelled soon. There is just no way they can go back even behind closed doors. It’s so strange that I don’t miss it.
Even next season is going to be hindered and it won’t start bsck in aug or sept unless vaccine is discovered
Hope everyone is good. Stay positive and I’ll catch up with you all soon guys
When this is over, this site be bsck to normal and we will all be moaning about var ?

4th May 2020 at 12:09 pm #107215Sean…stay save and come back soon. Nothing to talk about in football at moment only rumours and speculation by the media therefore nothing to report.

4th May 2020 at 12:20 pm #107225Perhaps we could use this a a “trail” for Nil?
Should be pretty safe, no actual footy to argue about… 🙂

4th May 2020 at 12:38 pm #107242Chuckles, I took trial to mean test run, but if it’s a “trial” who’s going to represent him and do you think we have the numbers to make up a jury?…..Pagan

4th May 2020 at 12:58 pm #107260I don’t think it’s fair to Nil to start trailing a possible return to the site for Nil on here it will raise his hopes and the Ed has been clear of how he sees it in his post above.
Anyone with a counter view to that should e mail the Ed privately.
