Let’s not get carried away the only top class nation we faced was Belgiums 2nd choice team. We have been remarkably fortunate in the opposition we have faced. Even the quarter final and semi final look very winnable. Yes I know there’s no easy games in most cases but if you look at the players we have besides Kane no one else is world class. Can you only rely on grit and determination? Yes you can but not always. If we make the final and the chances are good it will be a contest of England defending for 90% of the game and relying on breakaways or a Kane half chance.

I agree Adlab and Moos, we are what we are and that’s fine by me. We’ve all seen this at club football and as others have pointed out Greece won the euros playing like this. And Leicester did the seemingly impossible playing a similar style. One off games can be won against teams containing more talented players. Look at Spain Germany and Argentina in this tournament. How many times did the top six teams in the premiership who are loaded with quality lose to teams from the bottom six last season. It happens thats why it is such a great sport. Every step we make is something none of us expected. We’ve just got a chance. We should just enjoy it while it lasts.

Fifa/Uefa looseing control of game, players do what they want now and mostly get away with it. A sharp lesson is required at all levels of the game and bring some sanity back. If they cannot manage it get the Rugby League in to sort it out. If a player goes down, do not stop game while they all have a rest and afternoon tea get the Medics to get them off the pitch. Why does the Ref have to see the offence on a monitor, they have paid professionals doing the watching they can tell him down his earpearce….let the game flow or we are in for longer and longer breaks for no good reason in most cases
