I didn’t think it was a particularly good game last night but it was won by a good goal and Southgate probably knows a bit more about his team/squad afterwards and I thought RLC didn’t let anyone down last night.
The half of the draw we are now in is more favourable than the half we would have been in had we won although Columbia won’t be an easy game but having watched them yesterday they are nothing special and Rodriguez looks to be carrying an injury.
Beat Columbia and we will have some momentum but we have to beat them first and then see how we go going forwards.
Finally I can’t help thinking that Pickford is a great shot stopper but is he big enough as a taller Keeper would have probably stopped that shot?

29th June 2018 at 7:29 am #23311Anonymous999… don’t take anything away from the strike. Quality moment in the game.
Michy’s movement into the box gave the defenders a headache and I thought the defenders could have got something on it but were bumbling about.

29th June 2018 at 7:55 am #23313AnonymousI cannot figure out how Dier makes the Spurs side never mind England. I feel sorry for the players that really deserve it.

29th June 2018 at 8:17 am #23314Rashford missed that 1 on 1 deliberately and Pickford deliberately didn’t save that shot?

29th June 2018 at 10:39 am #23317Don’t think it was a nothing game
England’s 1st real test and they were terrible. It’s a defeat.
Hopefully they go through and I fully expect them to as Colombia aren’t great at all
Easy group and a great draw

29th June 2018 at 10:51 am #23319For me, we were clueless and classles. A mifield that did not know what game they were playing and two up fron nothing more than chase the ball pony’s. No intelligence. Pickford is not my choice as a No1, Shot stopping alone is not good enough, I thought Cahill,Rose and Stones and delph are the only ones that come out of it with a plus point but it was only just. I cannot accept playing for a draw or a loss. Southgate did get this wrong, we have lost momentum, now need to re build a situation where it heaps more pressure on to beat Columbia and that will not be easy. I can see a lot of shots coming in from there team and lots of follow up, on a keeper that cannot hold a ball
Soth gat has made his mistake, he will learn a lot from it, we should stick with him for at least three years_____________________________

29th June 2018 at 10:58 am #23320Sterling v Rashford….it is a shame we have to compare these young players, they are different in styles formed by Club tactics. I like Rasford because he clearly has talent but he needs to play in a settled position for club and country Sterling is different because he an aggressive non stop player who will always put the effort in, again in a settled role he does score, also misses a lot, With Sterling, you have to accept that or not because I do not think is mode of playing will change in next 2/3/ season, he will then be old enough and experienced to take a calmer approach We have a tendency to rush our youngsters and expect too much from them

29th June 2018 at 11:16 am #23321Hi Sean, no offence intended mate. I know you support an English team many Irish do as you don’t have a football league of the same level as the PL which is fine by me. But I am also aware that the majority of Scots and the Welsh football fans are anybody but England when it comes to the national sides. Possibly Ireland although my father-in-law from NI will follow us. Thats why i object to pundits from other home nations giving their opinion. I do particularly dislike Keane as a pundit mind. But thats just me. Anyway I remember you saying you were not that bothered about the WC at the start but you now appear into it! I think so far it’s been an excellent tournament. Cheers Jim
Ps clearly Southgate wanted to lose that game. Hence the team he picked. We now have a great chance to get to the semis. But just watch us mess up vs Columbia. Lol

29th June 2018 at 12:29 pm #23322Sean, looking at some of the results inc S. Korea v Germany are there really any easy games some look easy on paper and I’m sure Germany fully expected to get through but look what happened.
England will be tested now though. Cheers 999

29th June 2018 at 7:12 pm #23323Ah come on nine. Panama???
Tunisia??? Two shocking sides. South Korea have premier league players.
England got a dead handy draw. You have to beat what’s in front of you and they did that well.
If England don’t make the semi finals now then it’s been a failure big time
Massive chance for them now and they have to take it
You would have bitten your hand off to get this route to the semi finals.
I hope they can push on
