2nd March 2018 at 12:21 pm #16992Banjo’s retired of your jokes! Also reckons it’s a valuable skill set, going to work all day and not doing anything remotely important other than plucking goose-feathers. He’s thinking of going on Dragons Den, turning it into a business. Bag of Monster Munch and a Curly-Wurly for 23,87%.

2nd March 2018 at 1:10 pm #16997AnonymousWell that’s 12 more goals against top six sides (in fact 12 more against top 10 sides) than he scored an hour ago.
Bear in mind that he played for WBA and Everton for most of this time and he is just settling in at Utd and it’s not so bad.
Kane has a 1 in 7 record against Utd – I wouldn’t get worked up about that, just as I wouldn’t get worked up about Lukaku’s record.

I’ll tell you one thing though, there’s way too many people with way too much time on their hands, both putting this crap on the interweb, and idoits like

2nd March 2018 at 1:35 pm #17006In fairness to Rom Banjo, comparing him to players who have played for top 6 sides for all of their PL career is a bit unfair on Rom. Aguero and Kane have had more chances to deal with in order to put the ball in the back of the net in comparison, if the same chances fell to Rom, then I am sure we would see an improvement on his goals against top 6 sides too.
Do you think Kane and Aguero would have a similar record against the top 6 if they played for Everton or West Brom. Kane’s record for Leyton was 1 goal every 4 games, 1 goal in 3 for Millwall, 0 in 3 games for Norwich and 1 in 6 gamesfor Leicester.
At United you would have expected an improvement for Rom, but Uniteds record against the top 6 under Jose has been poor too.

2nd March 2018 at 1:38 pm #17007So Rom is crap because of Maureen? Heard it all now pal! π
No more unfair than when the city boys include the Harry “Pre-Spurs” record when we “discuss” why Harry is better…
How about we agree to come back to this in 6 more years, when Harry has scored 300 more goals and Rom might have scored 2 more against Spurs… π

2nd March 2018 at 1:45 pm #17008If Kane played for United and the way Jose sets up against top sides, do you believe his goal scoring record against top sides would be good?

2nd March 2018 at 1:49 pm #17009AnonymousThe thing is Chucky, we all know Kane is great. Just because Lukakuβs record is not as good as Kaneβs (few, if any, are) does not mean that he (and everyone else who doesnβt match Kane) are shit.

2nd March 2018 at 2:09 pm #17012Read the thread chums… never said Rom was crap, just said he was a flat track bully and nowhere near as good as he thinks he is. I only mentioned Kane in comparison when comparing early records etc… it was never meant to be a comparison between the two.
My point is simple. You can’t really use a combination of excuses including “potential”, playing for crap teams, now playing for a crap manager, etc…, for a player who’s had over 200 games in the Prem now… I think we all know what Rom brings to the table. He’s a big lump of a target man, has a suspicious first touch, and very rarely show’s up in the big games. Take away his 7/7 streak at the start of the season, you’re left with somebody who’s scored 6 goals in his last 20 odd Prem games… a club with a history and check book the size of YooUtd should be aiming higher in my humble opinion!

2nd March 2018 at 2:18 pm #17013AnonymousBut what striker was available who was better last summer?
You can only buy who is available and he has outscored all of the big summer striker signings, yet is the only one getting flak.
If he scores another 5 goals this season he would have had a great first season with us imo.

2nd March 2018 at 2:25 pm #17016Furry muff Alf, if you’re a happy camper so be it. Wouldn’t be surprised to see YooUtd go for another top-notch striker in a year or two, especially if you get another manager.
Maybe I’m a bit spoiled watching Harry every week, but I’ve also seen a lot of “decent” strikers during my Spud-years… Rom’s a good striker, but unlikely to win you titles I reckon. You need somebody who’s going to show up in the 6 pointers with the other top sides to win those, and in my humble opinion, Rom isn’t that man.
You watch, he’ll go and bang in a hat-trick against Palace now! π
