Have to say I am with Goat on this. He may have done it but I can’t honestly remember Aguero diving. Gundog did it Tuesday night. Walker exaggerated a foul and got booked. Silva doesn’t dive either imo. He doesn’t need to, but he’s another that gets kicked alot.

21st December 2017 at 4:49 pm #94479, you’re right and I know it won’t happen, so diving/exaggeration has to be accepted as part of the game, and as such will be coached and rewarded.
The benefits of promotion from the championship to the prem is estimated as £170m, what kind of a punishment can you put against that?
The only way I can see is to make it sociably unacceptable by attaching shame to it, but obviously we can’t do that as it may upset the perpetrators and violate their human rights.

21st December 2017 at 5:20 pm #9448RIght, I’m having a Silva/Aguero watch Saturday, and plan on posting smiley face every time either one goes down easily, claims a free-kick/throw-in, waves an imaginary card or dives… I wonder how many I get… 🙂

21st December 2017 at 5:31 pm #9451Sterling is more susceptible I will grant you. But he has definitely also been sythed down several times this past year and nothing is given.

21st December 2017 at 6:08 pm #9453Pagan, not if the review panel works more effectively which with a consistent panel for the season and majority decisions would give you.

21st December 2017 at 6:55 pm #9454One small part in solving this as follows
Lets say Player A fouls Player B, who then is injured to the extent he has to leave the pitch, a Yellow card is shown….Play continues…10 v11…so the aggressor wins. I think the law should change on this point. Player A has to leave the pitch for the same amount of time, thereby no advantage gained to the aggressor…as it should be. Extend the Red card suspension time. If more han two Red cards are shown to same team..fine the club as well These will not affect the big problems we are faced with but tightening the rules will help. I think there are a few other apspects that need looking at as well…..like…goalkeepers wasteing time or any time wasteing tactic. Players down injured should be carried off imediately, no waiting around or even stopping the game. Finaly…take the watch off the Referee…It should be timed electronicaly, NO added time. The game is 90 minutes Merry Christmas to all_____________________________

21st December 2017 at 9:00 pm #94569, I would agree it needs to be the same panel, but Stevie Wonder must have been one of them that was involved in the Gray case…Pagan

21st December 2017 at 9:07 pm #9458Which makes u think why are they faceless? Who the hell doesn’t think Gray dived? I haven’t met anyone yet for any club that doesn’t think Gray dived??? So who was it? Because they need to know a lot of footy fans have already turned away from this panel because they can’t get it right so cheaters will cheat and take a gamble but if they simply stood up and banned all divers ALL THE TIME they would stop. Also add more games if they continue. The next time 4 games, then 6 etc IT WOULD STOP or at the least greatly reduce

21st December 2017 at 10:43 pm #9459So to sum up this thread,
Diving/exaggeration is wrong needs to stop
it’s justifiable for your own team to do it as other teams do it
Retrospective action is inconsistent so not a deterrent
The rewards for cheating outweigh the punishmentsResult – we have to accept it as part of the game

22nd December 2017 at 9:00 am #9464The very second they got that free kick all the groups I’m on in WhatsApp went into DIVE meltdown. Yet this supersonic panel hadn’t even mentioned it. Look at his body movement, all forward and the leap at the end, what a joke of a panel.

22nd December 2017 at 9:14 am #9466Pagan, I’ve yet to see that happen in any fan coming forward and condemning one of their own if guilty.
It’s down to the Men in Black or a Video Monitor in place during the game.

22nd December 2017 at 9:26 am #9467Disagree Nil, seen a few times from others and said it myself when a Spud-bloke has pulled an “Emoji-man” stunt on here, not everybody on here does their best Arse Wenger impression when their man goes down…

22nd December 2017 at 9:40 am #9472The other thing that needs looking at is the Olivier effect, the rolling round on the floor as if fatally wounded often holding a part of the body different to the part that was brushed against by that mean player from the other team.
However the flip side to that coin is the Terry Butcher effect, where the letting of blood overrides the pain threshold and allows the warrior within the player to manifest itself
