Is anyone one else seeing RM circumnavigating FFP by getting into their prime oppositions best players heads a couple of years before their contract expires and effectively get them “for free.” Mbappe, Alaba, Rudiger, Alexander- Arnold, Yamal, Konate…
Surely signing on bonuses need to be looked at too?Never mind this season openly courting Van Dijk, Trent and Konate…. 3 out of 4 defenders from arguably their most capable opponent in the CL… Konate and Van Dijk weren’t mentioned as targets until after LFC beat them 2-0 in October’s CL clash…
If you can’t beat them you “buy” them ….

25th February 2025 at 9:57 am #218779Let’s be fair, they’re not doing what every other club doesn’t do, they’re just doing it with higher profile players…
How many “top” teams play with 11 “graduate” players these days?

25th February 2025 at 10:41 am #218781I hear you. But potentially they are the first team with such a dominant profile who can “attract” most of their world class recruits on “free transfers” by starting 2 years ahead… Most top clubs will have to continually renew their best players contracts 3 years ahead..to stay ahead of the allure and signing on bonuses the future RM will offer..

25th February 2025 at 11:10 am #218783True… but at the end of the day, RM can use the same excuse the 115 and Jammy Dodgers trot out with all their shannigans, namely, “is there a rule against it?”

My brain gets a bit frazzled from the point of view of whether rules are breached for spending too much be wages and and transfer fees. Profit, sustainability and expenditure makes more sense.
United’s situation seems more down to earth as it would appear, they’ve found some sort of a ‘black hole’.
Real Madrid is just a head-scratcher altogether; seem to have this magic money tree lol! 😀
