I agree with Nil’s sentiments above.
United and Liverpool aside the rest of the 6 still had some reservations according to Planet Football etc see below:
“We’ve rounded up which clubs are reportedly for or against Project Big Picture and those who are still undecided.
Arsenal: Despite being one of the big six clubs most favoured by the proposals, Arsenal have ‘reservations’ about Project Big Picture, according to Sky Sports and the Independent.
Aston Villa: Unknown.
Brighton: They would not back plans to reduce the size of the Premier League to 18 under any circumstances, according to the Daily Mail.
Burnley: They would not back plans to reduce the size of the Premier League to 18 under any circumstances, according to the Daily Mail.
Chelsea: According to The Athletic, Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck has been heavily involved in discussions about Project Big Picture for quite some time and they are ‘significant advocates’ of the deal.
However, the Blues still have ‘reservations’ about the proposals, according to Sky Sports and the Independent.
Crystal Palace: They would not back plans to reduce the size of the Premier League to 18 under any circumstances, according to the Daily Mail.
Everton: Unknown.
Fulham: They would not back plans to reduce the size of the Premier League to 18 under any circumstances, according to the Daily Mail.
Leeds: Marcelo Bielsa’s side have only just been promoted to the Premier League and they are against the plans in their current form, according to the Daily Mail.
Leicester City: Unknown.
Liverpool: The proposals were drawn up by Liverpool owner John W Henry and ‘revolution has been on his mind for a long time’, according to the Independent.
Man City: Despite being one of the big six clubs most favoured by the proposals, City have ‘reservations’ about Project Big Picture, according to Sky Sports and the Independent.
Man Utd: United owner Joel Glazer has been one of the driving forces behind the proposals while executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward also wrote sections of the documents, according to The Athletic.
Newcastle: Unknown.
Sheff Utd: They would not back plans to reduce the size of the Premier League to 18 under any circumstances, according to the Daily Mail.
Southampton: Unknown.
Tottenham: Spurs would be due a rebate of £125million for their new stadium if Project Big Picture is given the green light and the Independent claim that they are ‘broadly supportive’ of the proposals.
West Brom: They would not back plans to reduce the size of the Premier League to 18 under any circumstances, according to the Daily Mail.
West Ham: Despite being offered special status in the plans along with the so-called ‘big six’, a West Ham source told BBC Sport they are “very much against” Project Big Picture.
“The big six are using Covid for a power grab,” they told the BBC. “If this goes through, over time they will just use more and more for themselves.”
Wolves: Unknown.
Anyway a strategy for moving forwards will now encompass discussion with all Clubs so something sensible might come from it all.

15th October 2020 at 7:30 pm #168435AnonymousWell we can agree to disagree I guess. I’m pretty much all for the proposal. I know I’m in the minority on this and if you wonder why on earth I am for this, I think that the current structure is not only dated but that it causes problems for clubs (fixture congestion).
I did want Liverpool to try and win the LC this season but after it was done, did I really care? No. What I want is for these matches to make way for the competitions that i do care about and this proposal is the first step towards that.

15th October 2020 at 8:02 pm #168438Fixture congestion? That only exists for the big 6, and it only exists for them as they wanted the European Cup expanded for the extra revenue. So now they want more income for less work. Simple answer if you don’t want to be in a cup, opt out of it, but it’s a one time only choice, once you’re out you’re always out….Pagan

15th October 2020 at 8:16 pm #168441Special status, so must always be in the Prem, will also probably have voting rights to approve who gets let in, games will go pay per view so you want teams with big fan bases in the league, let’s face it, not a lot of money to be made it a Burton Albion managed to get in. Still will be funny to see the Liverpool Lions play the Manchester Marauders in the English Soccer League….Pagan
