I’ve seen it coming though Adlab. Our midfield isn’t good enough and prone to injury imo. The way to think of Liverpool is that Klopp is able to keep galvanizing the team to be dogged and relentless which drives the results. But I think the team is past its peak from a few seasons ago and can see us slipping back this season.

6th August 2022 at 7:24 pm #197344Started off well, but ever since Chelsea scored, the crowd really have quietened making the affair appear bland. Sterling looks exciting but other than that, Chelsea themselves I think more interested in running down the clock for a 1-0.

6th August 2022 at 7:39 pm #197345I was thinking that Nil, they’ve been going through their full reportoire of “Dark Arts” since half time (whoever sold them all those anti-gravity pills must have made a killing!)
A very average Everton have made them look just as average today.

6th August 2022 at 8:02 pm #197346Too right Chucks. That last half dragged and felt like 3 hours watching paint dry.
Hopefully tomorrow will bring us more entertainment π

7th August 2022 at 6:07 am #197347West Ham away a very tough game nowadays but any kind of win will do. A win in the first game is important. Spurs looking good, Chelsea not but had a stronger team on the bench. Liverpool draw was a fair result. Fulham walked the Championship so that tells you something.

7th August 2022 at 11:05 am #197352I think a bit of complete over reaction in some quarters on Liverpool yday.
Didnβt play well at all and got a draw. Canβt see us signing a midfielder.

7th August 2022 at 2:11 pm #197357There’s just this coolness about Ten Hag in the way he comes across. The players look more confident than tense and the flows better too. Nearly going a goal up.

7th August 2022 at 2:30 pm #197360Mctwoniey keeps getting away with those tackles. Heβs one of the dirtiest players in the league

7th August 2022 at 2:49 pm #197362New season but the same problems. Are we just underestimating the quality of Brighton?
Graham Potter should be England Manager!

7th August 2022 at 2:52 pm #197363Brighton been very good. Utd picking up where they left off laat season. Massive task this for Ten Hag to win things with this Utd side. Going to take a long time to get the side playing how he wants, especially with the lack of players coming in.

7th August 2022 at 2:56 pm #197365We really should be putting these away a week on Monday night. Lots of spaces found from Brighton so far.

7th August 2022 at 2:57 pm #197366Perfect summary Ed.
Ten Hag needs time and more signings and if he can’t get De Jong move on.
United will do well to escape with a point.

7th August 2022 at 2:59 pm #197367As I flagged up in an article a few months ago Ed, it pointed to the transfer strategy being heavily dependent on asking what players Ten Hag wanted as opposed to the transfer team finding players themselves, which if true, is a bit of a mess.

7th August 2022 at 3:17 pm #197369Looked a definite pen to me. As always, the problem is it needing to be a clear and obvious error. If it’s given, there’s no way it’s overturned.

7th August 2022 at 3:36 pm #197372Ah clear pen and should have been a 2nd yellow. Was never going to be overturned.
Mctwoniey aswell should have been off. Heβs a dreadful ref. No doubt the decisions will cost Brighton the points
Agree Ed, needs plenty of time and his own players. Mcfred are just far to open. Brighton are a very good side. Play sone great stuff and should always have more points at the end of the season than

7th August 2022 at 3:40 pm #197373McFred are OK Sean for an Ole team. Win the ball and release it for the quick counter attack but Ten Hag wants to control possession. They’re just not good enough on the ball for that. You can get away with one or the other but playing them as a pair is never going to work in the style he wants.
Unrelated point but it’s good that there are now some really talented English managers in the league. In Howe, Parker and Potter, there are some very impressive managers there who could all go on to bigger things.

7th August 2022 at 3:56 pm #197374Truthfully, Patience and Time is a vitality. I quite like Ten Hag, so he should be afford this for sure. Leadership and Identity needs to be found. Some players have improved in attitude and application, but the senior ones really need to pull their socks up and set an example.
What a win for Brighton!
